I sad day indeed for technology enthusiasts around the world. Whether you liked the man, his business, his products, or not; he pushed the innovation that allowed you to have the technology of your choice.

But let's remember, he isn't dead yet! Things aren't looking good, but rest assured Steve is still holding the reigns at Apple.

we are done with Apple now. I am glad to see there will be no more ****ing apple fanboys. I am really sick and tired of them. plus, Apple will not be greater as today. unfortunately, there is nobody who replaces by steve. Tim cook? NO. so there is a chance to see that other company will grow up. there is no dominance forever. Apple steps back. its day is gone. bye.

Just saw this on CNN. Was not expecting that at all today. Down, down, down will go all my stock. As if the floundering economy wasn't hurting my stock enough.

Feel free to sell.
I'll buy when the nellies are through.

The only CEO that I've ever stayed up late to watch an hour and a half of what he had to say.

Thanks Steve, you made the computer fun again.
Live Well.

Ooh. I said hipster so I'm instantly from /b/.

Why don't you go see how many sites the word hipster gets used on, come back, and tell me that I'm definitely from /b/ because I use a term most of the internet uses.

If it wasn't true you wouldn't deny it.

They have had zero projects take off since he took over, Office and Windows was well established under Gates.

Let's see what Microsoft has released under Ballmer...

  • Windows XP
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows VIsta
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Windows Home Server
  • Windows Home Server 2011
  • Windows Azure
  • WIndows Phone 7
  • ...

This doesn't even touch on SQL Server, Exchange, Visual Studio and dozens of other products.

Jobs will be forever known as Apple.

While I hope it is not for health reasons ( I wish no ill on anyone) Apple has been going in the wrong direction for a while. Bad PR, dysfunctional products etc. A change at the helm is needed

Sad news but he is staying on as Chairman so hopefully we'll see him from time to time during product launches.

Best of luck Steve!

The last I had heard, MS sold a few of those Kinect things for that video game system xbox 360. /S

You haven't used half of the products, dismissing it would be disingenuous of you.

I've been forced to use 2000, XP and I've dabbed with Vista (failure) and Windows 7 i.e. rebagded Vista. I stand by what I said. Nothing good since 98SE, actually nah NT 4.0

oh and zune and windows phone, hahaha, do I even need to go there?

Thank you so much for the link... Of course, to be complete, there should be footage of Jobs at the end of the video.

I was a PC, now I'm a Mac. Thank you, Steve. May the rest of your days be with your family. Please know that you are loved and admired by many, and the rest can go to hell. You have changed the face of civilization with your inventions. Thank you so much.

You will be missed, if this is your time. I'll be sending strong Reiki to you in the meantime. xox
Steve,

So sad to hear this news! I hope one day we can still see you at an Apple keynote event. We honestly love you and appreciate all you have contributed to the world to supply humanity with the most brilliant tools and inventions in recorded history. You have had an immense impact on countless in this world who will continue your legacy of innovation and inspiration in all their various fields. Your vision is legendary and your business skills are admired the world over. We wish you the best in your health and in all you do in the remainder of your time with us, your family, and loved ones. Here's to your continued insight in Apple as chairman of the board.

"Here’s to the crazy ones.

The misfits.

The rebels.

The troublemakers.

The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently.

They’re not fond of rules.

And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.

They push the human race forward.

And while some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think
that they can change the world… are the ones who do."

Sad news. Steve Jobs basically is Apple. Hopefully Tim Cook has the same vision as he does, and leads Apple as Steve has been doing it until now.
True, he's been sick, and needs to take care of his health. And definitely, he'll continue to keep an eye on what's going on, making sure nobody screws things up.

Get well, Steve!

Steve, please get better and hopefully nothing bad happens to you. We all pull for your speedy recovery and hope it's not too late.

I would say you are the first business man -- and probably never again by anyone -- that filled the new category as a HERO.
ALways and ALways felt this "I can do anything attitude" from your presence.

I will be extremely sadden and feel the biggest empty spot in my life if apple product cease to be the apple product that they are today.. and I think big part came from Steve...

Let's All pray for Steve's well being.

XP was pretty good. That's back when I used PC.

I went MAC and I wont go back ;)
