Steve doesn't do everything. He's a help to Apple, but the real people who should be credited are their engineers. They're the ones who really bring a product to light, and make it as magnificent as it is, yet they are very rarely credited for their work.

I love all the hate-filled types (here and on other forums across the Internet) who claim Jobs isn't anything special or just got rich off other peoples' ideas.

* The Apple II
* Macintosh
* NeXT & NeXTStep
* Pixar
* iMac
* OS X
* iPod
* iTunes
* iPhone
* iOS
* iPad

These are all products or companies that have made sweeping, revolutionary changes to the industries they're part of, and Steve Jobs just happened to be closely connected to all of them. Either this guy has some incredible, Forrest Gump-like ability to be standing in the right places at the right time or he's an honest-to-god visionary.

Gee, tough call. :rolleyes:

With Cook at the wheel, Apple will no longer have the same driving force as they did with Jobs. I hate Apple as many others do, but Steve Jobs really is a bright man, no doubt he will be known as one of the greatest tech guys. Even though he is still on Board of Directors, we know that he will slowly fade away.

Unfortunately for Apple, Cook is not that great. And if the company doesn't have a driving force, they will go down no matter who is on the Board. I mean, look at Yahoo. Their CEO is a complete moron who took the company to the ground.

It's unfortunate that he didn't wait till iPhone unveil.

Did you calculate the cost of the 27" monitor, which runs around $900 minimum?

No, I did not, as I already have a 24 inch that costed me $300, but now I feel ripped off because of this...

But even then, it would only be $1100, which is STILL $900 less than that pretty iMac.

I forgot to add that I splurged on the case a little, and since it has a goofy form factor the prettiness of the case would probably cost you in the long run.

I'm also laughing at the mindless downrating of this comment because it is something that isn't praise for an Apple product.

UNIX may have came before anything. The point I'm making is other than us on this site, if you went and as a regular mac or pc user what unix is they won't know. so the point is, steve put it all together, the vision, the product, the marketing, and the customer service. Only at apple can you get the type of service that apple provides at there retail store.

Please.. he loves to be in front of a camera.. every few months he has to be on stage in front of thousands of cameras parading around. Like he'd donate anonymously hahaha

That is simply the dumbest thing ever. Do you know how much care he puts into keeping his personal life private? He only gets on stage to present his new products. He's not up there because he's camera-savvy.

Internet is full of jealous haters. Doesn't matter if he got rich off other people's ideas ... if it was that easy to do everyone would be doing it. History is full of people who had great ideas and nobody listened - the talent is in making others listen.

Sigh

Not surprising but regrettable just the same. The "future" was always in their products thanks to many on their team but one guy had to be there to lead.

It will be interesting going forward. Here's hope this is just a "I can't hack the CEO hours and stress, if I'm going to have a life with my family give me a boar d position so I can step away when it's smart to."

Truly, the end of an era.

Steve Jobs changed the world's idea of what technology mean to people by building the technology for them. He brought the technology to them rather than make them come to the technology.

That's an awfully small resolution for such a big screen. Might as well just simply be a television. My 11" Air nearly has that same resolution.

Hmm, unusual earthquakes in Colorado and Virginia and a day later Steve Jobs resigns? Bet he's headed to the evacuation ships. Goodspeed Steve, I heard Mars is pretty nice this time of year :)

You chose a setup with a tower or box and then a monitor, not an all in one. All in one (compactness) = greater cost. So you can not make a proper comparison. Not to mention you are not using an IPS panel like the iMac has which is much better than that crappy 300 dollar TN panel.

Get well soon, Steve Jobs!

Thanks for all the great :apple: products!!
Hope your vision of Apple continues, although it's not gonna be the same without your passion for perfection.
Hope we will see you back soon - healthy, happy and excited to show us "... one more thing".
Just can't imagine the next magical Apple product which is not first revealed by you on stage (it won't be as special).
All the best to you, Steve!
