People should understand that Steve Jobs has/had a serious physical problem that probably allows him to park there. And rightfully so.
You're quite right about recently. I was referring to historical behaviour documented on random fanblogs. Of course, perhaps the photographers never picked up on the sign in the car displaying whatever's customary there.

Wonderful. Now all those people who claimed months ago, with as genuine an air of authority as they could muster, that Steve Jobs would not be back and that Apple would be in a world of legal trouble for this horrendous conspiracy will, no doubt, graciously admit they were wrong and agree to stop littering the Internet with information culled directly from their arse.

How odd. Maybe it's an on-going in-joke among employees. Apple has a fairly good diversity track record, and they'd probably be dumped on from a height if someone disabled was actually being inconvenienced. Odd example to set if it's an open car park - how might a disabled investor react if he encountered etc. Who knows :D.

I'm not sure if it's an inside joke, his rebellious nature or a power play. I suspect Jobs has been parking in handicap spots since Apple's campus was built. So much so that it's mentioned in "The Second Coming of Steve Jobs" book (2000) and I think shown briefly in a scene from the Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999).

Who knows, but it's certainly not new, and I doubt it has anything to do with his illness.

Here's Andy Hertzfeld talking about it in 1985.

Going by that 1985 story one could say it's not even a legal handicap parking spot.
Who knows maybe Jobs put it there so nobody would park there.

If Steve needs a parking spot closest to the main entrance. I would think, since he's the boss - someone would create a parking spot for steve right outside the door; or even have a driveway that let's him drive right into his office. a bit like Batman, I guess.. Bat Cave? :D

Yeah, parking in a handicapped spot is classic Jobs. But I'm just confused why the heck he doesn't have his OWN parking spot???

Good to hear that he is doing well. I wish him all the best!

I can see it now...

"That concludes our Keynote, I hope you all enjoyed yourself. Oh, and One More Thing, *Phil steps off stage, moment of nothing happening, then Steve walks out on stage, holding the new iPhone in the air*

Apple universe explodes and the audience go insane. :D:cool::p

Seriously though, I expect to see Steve there, he just won't do the Keynote part. He will come on at the end an announce the new iPhone. :D

YAY!!! Hi Steve! :D :apple:

Steve's got a nice car

Like he would go for anything but German engineering with cars?

He probably OCDs about how badly the Nav UI etc. needs redone though hehe :)

Nice set of photos.

But i don't understand why he is allowed to drive with no licence plates (as seen in the photos. Surely that's illegal?

The googlez told me the he just pays the fine whenever he is stopped. And that he doesn't get stopped that much anyway. BTW: I hope he has a dashMini in his car.

Does this means????

Does this means he will receive a salary of 50 cents instead of a dollar? After all he took half of the year off (medical leave) so it would be fair his salary be accordingly adjusted. :p

So he just pays the fine or shows the cops the plates in his truck or whatever. Nice.

Here (UK) I'm not a legal expert, but I'm pretty sure that repeated driving without plates (front or back) would build up on your record, and lead to a court appearance or suspension of driving licence.

(btw fines are between £60 and £1000 for improper plates e.g. fancy font, mud covered, too small etc)
