But I thought we already knew that Mr. Jobs was going to do his keynote as always.
I say he's going to devote 95% of the time to that damn iPhone and the rest to Leopard and the iPhone.
Anyways, I won't be so pessimistic - can't wait.

I am kinda shocked how bent out of shape some people on here are getting about the late release of Jaguar.

What feature are people so anxious about?

Don't get me wrong, I love new product announcements as much as the next person, but as far as day to day use goes (for the average consumer), what is going to change?

I'm still going to use the same applications. I'm not in a hurry to get the cool background effects in iCHAT. Spaces will be interesting, but 1 cluttered desktop is enough for me... 4 will just be 4 times as cluttered. :D

I already backup my harddrive, so Time machine isn't something I won't be able to survive without.

Websites, e-mail, and everything will still look the same and load up just as fast. I think the only thing I did when I upgraded to Tiger was dink around with the widgets and then went to the driving range.

The iPHONE, on the other hand, is much more exciting. It is the next APPLE unknown. It will change the way people design phones, mp3 players, pocket PCs, and countless other devices.

Definitely worth the Leopard delay.

C'MON.. we're not whining. The reality of the situation is that Apple, Inc. hasn't released a new computer (aside from a bto update to the mac pro) in forever... All we've heard is iphone, :apple: tv, leopard coming soon, a new airport.

Time for new computers, new ipods, new apps (that more than 1% of mac users use), and the new OS.

What would these new computers contain?

Apple is already shipping with the top of the line processors and chip-sets available from Intel for the product lines they have. Over the next few months Intel will be refreshing their offerings which will allow Apple to do the same thing.

Also things like LED backlights are just starting to go mainstream, so are large flash drives, so is just about every other next generation technology... the simple fact of the matter is many of the "new technologies" are just not ready yet... FY07 Q3 & Q4 will be interesting.

The only place that Apple is lagging is with top-end adapters from Nvidia but that makes sense given how much the GeForce 8800 depends on drivers (aka likely depends heavily on Leopard).

Also Apple could bump the adapters in the iMac line but a bump of video adapter alone doesn't make a compelling system update.

It is also highly likely that new software (aka iLife) is dependent on Leopard... it is a way for Apple to test out the new stuff in Leopard (eat their own dog food) and to show off what Leopard has to offer users and developers.

Eat you own dog food.

I think the expression you are looking for is "Drink their own champagne". This is not Microsoft we are talking about.

How about a speed update? A bump in memory? A lowering of prices???? Anything!

You have to admit that 8 months is a very long time in the computer world. That's what we're sitting on as far as the iMacs are considered... These are not cars were talking about, they're computers.

Ha! Yeah, excellent! I guess I should have written "magnesium alloy."

Although there are already magnesium alloys in some of the Apple laptops, right? Just thinking that ALL magnesium would be fantastically exotic and expensive, considering how difficult it is to work with.

I'd prefer titanium ... plated in gold pressed latinum :p

But we all know that's what this WWDC must be all about.

What else "earth shattering" can be announced?

iPhone is not as simple as it has been presented. It is a palmtop super-computer with multi-homing server access. That has applications not yet shown off. Ohh Ooooh.

Leopard features have "value" and "wow" :))).

The next wave of macs will be quietly released just before and just after WWDC, depending on inventory depletion rates. I say iMac, Mac-Mini and MBP15.

Rocketman

Speed update? ...to what? Apple is already using the top clocked Intel Core 2 Duos and they aren't going to bump the low-end up if they can't bump the top-end in a given product line. Also Apple has a tradition of bringing in new models at the near the existing price points... if they lower those those before they bring out a new model then folks bitch that they upped the prices.

Note Intel is just starting to release higher clocked parts... so wait and see.

it feels like the last wddc was just yesterday. the year flew by. :( . I'll be looking forward to the "top secret" features :apple: :apple:

I just want a new Mini, my wife is running a 400MHz G3 Bluebery iMac DV, and it takes a hissy fit when she asks it to calculate her Uber massive XL spreadsheets. We wouldnt be getting it to arround june/july anyway, so if its updated soon it will be nice. but she aint getting her hands on my imac until i can afford a Mac Pro Quad 3.0 (or whatever is out by that time)

All about macs

I hope this can be a all Mac Event+iPhone. Steve Jobs would probably talk more about the iPhone and then probably release it at that keynote, then Steve Jobs will probably talk about the macs, probably introducing a new model like a 15" MacBook or a mid-range tower Mac Pro. After the macs he is probably going to show Leopard and all of its features. At the end, the one more thing will probably be a widescreen 6G iPod.

Uhh, no. How many times do we have to remind everyone that this is a developers conference? It will be all about Leopard, with possibly (but not guaranteed) some pro hardware update like a Macbook Pro. No consumer device will be released or talked about except in brief summary, because those don't pertain to developers. Apple has stated that the iPhone will not run third-party applications, so at this point, it is also of no interest to developers. It will get a separate launch later in June.

The vast majority of the conference sessions are about Leopard. The keynote will be about Leopard. Hopefully a few nice surprises, but it will be day of the Leopard. Period.

I hope it is. I hope that Leopard will be released before October but it doesn't look like it. Apple has delayed a lot of stuff lately and they need to hire more people.

if in nov you wanted iwork06 knowing that iwork07 was going to be released in two months, knowing that the new version would probably have things that you would want, would you buy both versions, or wait for the new one?
If I knew it would be updated? And if I didn't actually need the product, but just thought it was a shiny toy? I'd probably wait.

However, you quite obviously feel that the product is more than just a shiny toy, or you wouldn't be being so... well... childish about it. If you need it to do your work, then buy it. If the next release does more stuff, that doesn't change the fact that the day before it came out the older version was working for you just fine.

And besides, you don't know that its going to be updated. Sure, there were rumors, but there always are, and they're usually wrong.

Finally, its only $79 fer gawd's sake. That's less than a shuffle. If you want it so damn badly, then buy it - even if a new one comes out two months later and you have to buy it too the day its released (unlikely), you're still only paying about $1.25 a day for something that obviously will give you a lot of pleasure and lower your blood pressure. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Either way, chill!

Obviously

A keynote without Steve is not keynote..I imagine like a dark age and of course all the people here want to one more thing from Steve...
