Maybe, maybe not. It would fit with an big update for iTunes. And last I checked we're out of 4.x numbers for iTunes ;).

Plus hasn't Steve been negotiation movie deals with different movie companies?

Actually, the next version of iTunes could be 4.10, followed by 4.11 and eventually 4.12. These are major and minor version numbers, so 4.9 in this case does not mean "four and nine tenths," but rather major version 4, minor update 9.

Some kind of iPod ;) hopefully with a new iTunes.
The video section in the iTunes Store is a mess, it looks awful.
Also, it would be a nice time to give us those damn folders.

Er... am I missing something? I could have sworn 4.10= 4.1...

Anything but that iTunes phone.

I wish that would die.

Effing phone.

My guesses:

One totally new product that no one saw coming.

I really doubt that they will put Freescales dual-core ship in the PB, but they have to do something to it. It's pretty pathetic right now.

Hell, I don't know, I just love me a Stevenote™, though.

In fact, I wonder how Jobs will be announcing the future (and last) PPC computers. A "one more thing" for a computer with a processor that is going to be replaced in the coming two years?

It will probably be a "One last thing." :->

Maybe Steve's big announcement will be that he will be the keynote speaker at Apple Expo Paris 2006. :)

We continuously speculate about possible upcoming Apple announcements, but so far I've seen nothing linking a particular rumor to this particular event.

Like I said, it is major version dot minor update, not a normal decimal number.

The ".9" does not signify 9/10s, nor would ".10" signify 1/10th nor be the same as ".1". It would mean major version 4 and minor update 10.

cool, i just booked my flights (worked out at just £75 to fly..cheaper than eurostar).

i look forward to Steve's keynote. I'm thinking definitely a video iPod (it's coming sooner or later)

hopefully i'll get to meet some MR folks there! :)

just fyi, i'm using bmi

Tablet

I wouldn't be all too surprised if we saw a no-button, all-screen, Mac Tablet with several USB 2 ports.

what would you like us to do speculate about past.... apple... announcements.

"sources further stated that Jobs is expected to make at least one major announcement during his presentation"

Now THAT is a rumor.

Personally, I hope for:

1. HD laptops. I'll upgrade for that, don't really care about the whole Intel thing.

2. Color iPod minis with 10 gig capacity

3. Bluetooth Mighty Mouse.

I'd buy all three the moment they were announced.

A music solution for the living room would be great too. Airport Express' simply drop signals too often.

Well, being rather disapointed with recent Apple announcements I came up with this:

Based on recent announcements of a switch to Intel processors followed by the introduction of a two-button mouse Jobs is expected to announce that:

Current Apple OS (OS X) will now be known as OS 2005, since Microsoft no longer needs that nomenclature.

Patches to OS 2005 will change the OS so that the normal user is always logged on as "root" so as to be more like Windows. Along the same lines scripting vulnerabilities will be introduced across the entire product line to pave the way for the upcoming Apple Antivirus offering.

The upcoming OS 2006 will introduce further enhancement to compatibility with Windows and Intel systems: "that troublesome 'DOS' box will be eliminated" and users will have to find a GUI way to do everything or resort to the new Apple Registry editor.

Apple declined to respond to rumors that in 2007 all new Intel Apple computers would come pre-installed with Windows so that they "just sorta work".

Color me blue.

The iHome Media Centre at last!!!

What you're missing used to be called (in the 70s) "the new math." The period doesn't necessarily mean that we're dealing in base 10; rather, we're using base 10 numerals to represent base n numbers. Take an IP address:

110.151.243.206

That's 4 base-256 "digits," represented as 12 base-10 numerals with decimals marking off the "digits."

I'm gonna be in London at that time and was planning a trip to France anyway. How exactly do you get into the event and how much does it cost? Also, anyone know of neighboring hostels? thanks

Well it's possible. But also remember who the biggest users of online movies are... college students. And guess what starts in late September most years... College. The timing would be PERFECT.

Um...no. College starts at the beginning of September...at least here in Maine.

Also, why is no one mentioning dual core Power Macs? I think this is one of the most likely updates that may/may not happen.

Yep - and like software revisions such as Mac OS X 10.4.1

(we seriously need to make a FAQ page with this topic in it as it seems to come up all of the time)

I never thought i'd say this, but ...

Is anyone else getting bored with iPod updates? I hope it isn't another iPod update.

PLEASE! :( :(

I don't see Apple releasing a whole new product line that would have to be based on existing G4/5 technology.

Why not? During WWDC Jobs said that "Apple still has some GREAT PPC products in the pipeline yet to be introduced!"
