I'm with you loserman. Screw the intel. Give me a Freescale dual core with fast sata hd, new xbrite type high res screen,Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 ultra, and dare I say Blue-ray super drive.

.... took the words out of my mouth! processor smoshcessor. I totally agree with digitalbiker and loserman!

Blu-Ray is a done deal... (provided HDDVD DOESN'T prevail) the format for the next gen DVD format Blu-Ray is going to be using is the MPEG-4 codec, which Apple's developed, anyway. if you want to learn more about the blu-ray format and tech go here: http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/

Glad to hear it's (almost) official that Steve will be doing the keynote. Boom!

I think Apple will announce the triPod (TM): it does audio, photos, and video. Hey, if they can use Mighty Mouse, certainly the name triPod is possible. :)

Here is my wish list... not that I suspect it will happen..

[...].Mac enhancements / upgrades

Does Apple even remember .Mac exists? They announced .Mac exclusive widgets that never came, and besides the new sync features that came Tiger (which have received mixed reviews) there hasn't been a whole lot new under the sun in .Mac world in quite a while.

I still don't think it will be the 5G iPod; I think it's going to be a new, somewhat wider form factor.

I agree with you on that. I have a 1st gen iPod now, but I don't want to get a new one. They seem too -blah-. I can't justify the price of one just because it has a color screen. I want more. (and I hope you meant "wilder" form factor not "wider". I dunno; maybe wider would be better. Widescreen iPod anyone?)

Um...no. College starts at the beginning of September...at least here in Maine.

School starts the middle of August here. Maybe it's the whole "time zone thingy". If that's the case; It'll all be too late.

I don't see any ipod updates. I think the next big ipod/itunes move comes in January....after Xmas sales clean out the current stock.

I see a whole new product in between a shuffle and mini update.

I see a 1GB shuffle for $99...no change in form or function.

I see the high end shuffle merging with the low end mini to form a 2GB flash mini-shuffle in a new form factor. B/W 3 line LCD w/ the shuffles click button.
It will work like a current shuffle if it had a LCD but it will look like a mini as if it were cut in half. It could be called the pocketpod.

I see a new 8GB mini w/ color display and new colors. Maybe a purple, burnt orange, black and white or a candy apple red. Also a slight form change to allow for a slighty larger screen.

Unless this was mentioned already, I predict the elusive iPhone to be introduced.

Seriously though, how about just updating some hardware specs, such as the Apple notebooks, to have features such as 533 MHz DDR2 RAM, SATA, dual-layer DVD+/-RW, and PCIe graphics so that Mac bashers won't point out even the $1,999 PowerBook doesn't even come with a SuperDrive?

Of course, that is not to say that most WinBlowz laptops don't come with DVI, slot-loading optical drives, decent keyboard, and a laptop that wakes up instantly from sleep when you open the lid...

Please no ipod or itunes news, just mac updates (powerbooks would be best)

As tired as I am sometimes of hearing about iPod and iTunes, I don't know if it'd be good to not mention them at all, since many people now equate Apple with iPod/iTunes and the "halo" effect appears to be working. I would be willing to bet gobs of money that Jobs will mention 500 million+ downloads and the new Japan store at the very least. Hopefully however there will be some other big news—besides a mouse, which is nice and all that, but still...the Mac faithful are getting restless. :)

I know I got late to the party but the big announcement is the wireless mighty mouse. period.

and that's the one more thing...

And I think the year of HD is pretty much done with because of the new displays and the software.

New displays? As I recall new displays were introduced in 2004

Wouldn't dual core PowerBook G4's be as fast or faster than a 2.13Ghz Pentium M in a PowerBook?

I think we'll probably see PowerBook updates with storage increases in the iPod lines.

Actually I have a completely different question.
Is it possible to meet Steve Jobs at the WWDC? Meaning go and talk to him etc.

I'll be so happy.

hmmmm... kind of like a meet and great, or are you thinking along the lines of a private audience with his geekness?

:)
Well, I've read a couple of his interviews and I'm a big fan of him.
I really like his way of thinking and I tend to agree with what he believes so I'd like to meet and talk to him so as to see up close the man behind the myth :D

Yeah, I must say I just renewed and I expect big things in the next 12 months to make me renew again. I figure Apple have plans and .Mac will get some nice new features but if its just 250 meg and a mac email address, I think I will not renew. gmail is immortal and 4 times as large, I dont need .Mac for an email address and web space is free or included in broadband plans...

I am suppose to be buying a new 17" PB g4 soon for school and for highschool, should I wait for September to see if a new PB will come out? What is the likelyness?

Apple and Sony announcement...?

Let's look at the facts:

1. Apple own one of the best multi-layer media presentation technologies, namely, QuickTime.

2. Apple, when they try, can develop stable intuitive software. iTunes and the iPod OS two examples. (Not OS X, which is flawed from a GUI stand point.)

3. OS X, while flawed from a GUI stand point, is based upon stable future proof technologies.

4. Apple are a major threat to Sony and have already done a lot of damage.

5. Sony own a lot of the world's enterainment content, including movies.

6. Sony are experts in manufacturing and miniaturization.

7. In order to take on Microsoft / Dell / Creative Labs etc, there will need to exist an entity that can develop a larger number of products than Apple currently offers at a wider price range.

8. The only way for this to happen is for a strategic relationship between Apple and Sony, in a similar way to Sony + Samsung, Toshiba + IBM or Microsoft + Dell / HP etc.

I believe several things could happen:

a) Sony make their vast content libraries available to Apple.

b) Apple develop custom version of OS X for PS3 and cross license PS3 technology for use in Apple's own home media device. Both products become interoperable.

c) Apple produced iMovies (iTunes for movies) type service for future versions of PSP as well as possibly launching their own touch screen based PSP sized device, but with a focus on personal productivity rather than gaming, to keep Sony happy.

d) A video iPod will not happen. What will happen is some form of universal device with wireless capability that will, as one of it's many tasks, play movies. And probably do VOIP too.

File this one for your records!
