Has Apple ever introduced or speed bumped products at All Things Digital before?

They introduced Airport Express one year as I recall. I think with it being so close to WWDC it is unlikely though. Although I could be wrong.
 
Now this I can't wait to see! Steve Job interviews are always a treat.

Here's hoping it will be iPad compatible. :)
 
I like how everyone makes out Jobs as some evil meglomanic, yet everytime I hear him speak he comes across as thoughtful, considered, intelligent and passionate about his work. And he normally has a few good one liners as well.

I suspect this time will be no different and we will get one or two good bits of info.

Steve Jobs has always had a lot of rough edges, but then many geniuses do. I think he's mellowed with age and suffers idiots better then in the past. Thank God he has the courage and foresight to jump Apple into markets with great products at the best time.

It's hard to guess what this world would be like without Apple putting a cattle prod to the consumer tech industry. Could we still be using floppy disks, CRT monitors, arrow keys to move around the screen, command line input, portable CD players...?

Thanks for saying that. Someone needed to. The guy is a class act, outside of these forums in the 'real world' he is respected. And he should be, look what he's accomplished. Those who bash him are jealous, ignorant, not that bright, I don't know but there sure is lots of SJobs bashing on this forum.

My friend, you need to browse the discussion pages on Digg some time.

The "bashing" that happens here is nothing. When you see hundreds of people moderating up comments like "APPLE SUCKS" and "Jobs is a Nazi," you'll come running back to this with open arms. :D
 
Enough about the iPad already? I have one and it's definitely not magical. Also, as if he will mention 'the next innovation' from Apple... yeah, right.

It is interesting, however, that random news stories always come quickly after something that doesn't paint Apple in a positive light. It's ok, you can flame me for that... just my observation as a long time reader. :)

You might want to get over the "magical" thing and let Apple just do it's job advertising for itself. You might as well condemn every other company for unrealistic slogans, here's a few:

ENERGIZER BATTERIES: Nothing outlasts the Energizer, it keeps going and going and going. BS, plugging it into the wall outlet outlast an Energizer and personally I think Duracell is better.

TIMEX: It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. BS, not very hard to break a watch.

Wheaties: The Breakfast of Champions. BS, the company has never proven that most champions prefer Wheaties, save for the ones that were endorsing the product.

M&M's: Melts in your mouth, not in your hands. BS, ever had bag of M&M's sitting in your pocket on a warm day for an extended period of time? It's not pretty.

Memorex video: Is it live or is it Memorex? BS. Even HD isn't that good that it fools the human eye into thinking it's live.
 
To be honest, women (esp. that Kara Swisher) that are into technology seem to annoy me big time. I just hate when a woman knows too much about Apple and their products. Ugh!

I hope Kara has the balls to ask tough questions about the sour turn of relations between Apple and Google. If she's any kind of journalist, she will not only ask, but push a little bit if Jobs deflects.

Allow me to enlighten you, Apple's advertising slogan that the iPad is "Magical" has in fact worked, why? Because you and every other person on this forum that mentions how much they hate it proves that it is good advertising and at the end of the day, that's all Apple is doing, "good advertising". The idea of using slogans is to get you to remember, not to get you to think it's magical. Can you think of any other words or lines used in the iPad ads that cause you to talk about it so much? Probably not. Rather it pisses you off or you love it, it worked, accept it. :D

Where do I say I have a problem with it, I think you have got confused. I was backing up your original point. theheadguy is the only poster who has take issue with it.

None of this has anything to do with D either.
 
I literally just wrote these out in a few minutes time. I'm sure as soon as I post it I'll think of a bunch more. But these were the top questions that came to me that I would ask if I could be on that stage:

Comment on Foxconn (and US contractors who are mistreated, but that is my own little issue that will not come up)

Did Apple not see the App Store revolution coming when it introduced the iPhone?

Is Apple lucky or does it see these trends ahead of time? For example, app store, gaming on iphone, ipod touch. Does Apple see where the puck is going to be? Or does Apple hit the puck and see where people like it and then go there?

Is Apple afraid of becoming isolationist? Doesn't Apple need collaboration with companies like Google to continue being successful? Wouldn't MobileMe be more successful if it had Google technology behind say its webmail (Gmail with Apple branding and no ads) rather than going it alone? Apple can buy maps companies to get rid of google maps on the iphone for example--but it can't be everything, right?

If Apple thinks Adobe dropped the ball on its creative suite, will the market pick up the slack with a competing product that will become prevalent or will Apple go after that market either by buying Adobe or creating its own pro-design apps?

Is the computer market even worth investing much in anymore? That is, will consumers have so many digital computing devices (iphone, ipad) with so much growth potential that a general computer (laptop) isn't worth investing as much in to Apple's bottom line in terms of software advances (os x, ilife, iwork, pro apps)?

How does Apple shake the big bad wolf image that Microsoft used to have? Does Apple even want its hippy, cool, out there image back?

Apple once said that no one would compete with the iPhone easily because the Apple software was 5 years ahead. The phone manufacturers themselves weren't making good software. Is it good that Google stepped in to make phone software? If they hadn't who else do you think would have had room then to step in? Would you rather Palm had survived on its own without HP? Does HP (Palm) have a chance with Google and Microsoft also in the market?

Is Apple playing it safer? Is Apple designing more for strategy than making products that really excite internally at Apple? How about applying that question to the iPad--was it a strategy product? Rather than something purely based on passion like the G4 Cube. How is Apple more like Microsoft now in good and bad ways?

With the iPad, does Apple think content creation of users is going away? Or is Apple acknowledging people would rather be entertained than work? How many people will use iWork on the iPad for meaningful work--does Apple acknowledge it is more for content enjoyment than creation or are there plans for it to be a general computing device to some day overtake the Mac? Could you envision a line of iPads? Will the iPad be a revolution of the PC/Mac? Or it another device to use in conjunction with a PC/Mac?


Any more you all would add? What do you think of these questions?
 
So, obviously, it's steve's choice to show up on an interview, & last time he did an interview with all things D was the year of the announcement of the iPhone, so this means something big must be coming out of the iPhone or its purpose is probably the iPad itself. So I'm just hoping that something big will come out of iPhone.(Just not the leaked device, it's bleh.)

Oops, sorry, I'm misunderstanding your post. When you said there was no magic in the magic kingdom it sounded like you thought the iPad wasn't magical either. Sorry, I got confused on your post. My apologies. :)
