Hope all you fan boys are happy. This whole "wait-in-line-just-to-get-into-the-store" is a HUGE inconvenience for everyone else.

Dude that's awesome!

Just out of curiosity, how long was the line there?

The line at 5:54am (when they first started letting people in the store) was starting to grow outside. I was out of the store by 6:30am b/c I hung around to take a photo with Steve Wozniak.

Another possible answer to the whole "Why didn't Woz just get one for free?" issue:

I seem to recall reading an interview around the time of the original iPhone release, that Woz was, indeed, offered a complimentary iPhone at that time. (He claims on his personal website that he is still on the books as an Apple employee and still draws a nominal paycheck, although he has absolutely no day-to-day involvement with the company.) He turned the offer down because he wanted to experience buying his like everybody else.

I also think I remember reading somewhere (but I cannot locate it right now) that he usually buys (pays for) one of just about everything Apple makes.

meh,

It would have been cool if he paid the Iphones for everybody there? he is a billionaire right?

On a side note, Apple should hire him back to speak on keynotes on behalf of Apple:D, they recent keynotes doesn't have the same appeal anymore as when Steve Jobs was doing the keynotes, I actually fell asleep watching the recent keynotes. :D

I'll bet you those "Woz" autographed boxes with the phones inside end up on eBay for $2000. Just watch. Whether anyone buys them or not, I do not know. But I'll bet you they go up for sale.

He said he didn't want to have one shipped to his house and be around a few people. He wanted to be around everyone and enjoy the energy.

Warms my heart. That's just who Woz is.

I wouldn't let hin cut either, I would have been mad if I walked up after waiting in line and was told the person in front of me bought the last one. And the woz had cut.

wow how lame.

i would of said f*ck no.

Too bad there probably weren't any women in line, maybe he would have shown off his newly acquired (or lack of) dancing skills.

Very cool story guys. Very cool of Woz to do that.

wow how lame.

i would of said f*ck no.

the least he could of done is pay someone for their spot, its not like he's poor.

and why is he going to a store anyway? apple should of sent him one without him even asking.

Trying to think what I can call you without breaking the forum rules.

So did anybody switch to the white iPhone so his autograph would show up better?

Makes me ponder what my numbered WOZ etched signature crystal Apple
from the 1986 Apple IIGS launch is worth these days, hehe :D

Oh, and yes WOZ is still an Apple employee and I believe would be entitled to a free iPhone in fact.

So it's kinda cool in my opinion that he showed up just for the fun of it and bought one and signed autographs.

Obviously, he didn't have to.

If Wozniak wanted to experience the same 'thrill' as all the little people queuing up to buy, then he should have joined the queue. Pointless gesture if you play the 'do you know who I am' card to push in front.
