Is is better to wait for the 2012 iMac or build a 2012 Hackintosh?

I got tired of waiting. I was all set to go the hackintosh route again but the wife truly likes the look of the iMac since it's in a very visible part of the house. So we took the plunge on the 2011 27". I love it and am happy we bought. It'll be a little frustrating if the new ones come out in Oct as expected but certainly not worth any angst. I might still do another hackintosh some day. Great performance, upgradeable, and fun to tinker with not to mention cheaper.

Upgraded my hackintosh to mountain lion. :) was relatively easy and should hold me out to whenever I decide to upgrade :p

I was going to buy an iMac when the upgrade came, but my computer decided to commit mass suicide and offed the mobo, cpu, one gfx card and the ram.

Currently running a hackintosh with i5 2500k, GA-Z77-DS3H, 16GB ram and a temporary 8600GT (HD6970 isn't supported). Working 100% with 10.8.2 and native software updates. Unless Apple blows my mind with something new, I'm staying with hackintosh.

Is it cheaper building one compare to a BTO one? Am considering build one with the similar parts I want in my BTO iMac 2012. Now that the techs specifics has released

There's never been a doubt you can save a few bucks by going with a Hackintosh. The primary drawback is that it's never "done"; you'll be fussing with it for its entire lifetime as new software updates come out etc.

Yes, indeed you can do so and it's also possible to dualboot Windows/Mac plus Linux.
