The STM Skinny's "clip in" plastic thing, the thing that holds the case, is so good they should license that part out to other manufacturers. After seeing all the disasters with the routed plywood cases, the other guys need some help :)

I'm dying to see this leather STM Skinny case. I emailed them and they wouldn't comment on it, other than to say they have something coming out soon.

Most cars logos are designed well. They also tend to slow with the car. The addon logos from a dealership get removed..the apple logo is not ugly.

I made a point about my personal taste for aesthetics, if you don't agree, that's fine. Everyone has different taste.were needs and choice not somewhat unique, a large array of options would not be available.

I would not buy a car without considering at least in part design..design is considered in nearly every purchase, by nearly everyone in at least some capacity.

I'd rather take "STM" or "Speck" branding on an iPad cover over "Yoobao", "JoyFactory", or "Belkin". But heck, in the end if it's a great case - that's what counts. That's my opinion.

Just got a Skinny for my iPad 2. I really like the design for the most part, but I am seriously questioning its long-term durability. It doesn't feel like it'll last more than a couple of months before falling apart. Hopefully, that isn't the case.

I've had it since the first shipment in mid April and it's holding up just fine.

How the texture of the front of the Skinny; as, apparently, it can wear down and give that look of the leather smart covers with oil on it - how is it looking? Can you post a close picture of the stitching and the texture on the front? Thanks

I don't know how to post a picture but the fabric looks just like it did when I got it. Mind you, I don't take it our of the house often. It is holding up well. If there's a way to take a photo with my iPhone and easily post it, let me know.

Neh, it's fine; I know what I needed to know. But, FYI, you can upload a photo by going to 'manage atachments' and find the photo on your computer PC, Mac or some other OS, and then click upload; if you're on a iDevice, then you cannot upload it via Safari - you can, however, use iCab which supports downloads and upload - it definitively works on Mac Rumours.

As soon as the refund goes through on the Yoobao, then I'll buy then STM - thanks for your help.

You might want to hold off a little bit. STM is supposed to be releasing a new ipad2 case in early July that will be similar to the Skinny but in a faux leather microfiber material without the tab. It will have some type of "kickstand" that stows away when not needed.

That sounds interesting - I'll wait for it - my refund will take about 10 days to go through anyway.

I hope this 'kickstand' replaces the 'tab' on the current case, therefore the cover is completely held on by magnets; and, the kickstand is invisible when not in use - I'll have to see it before I can really get a feel for it.

Would Work For Me

The Skinny is very good, slim, secure, put together well. Its just the damn tab which is the only problem. If they are coming out with an improvement, that will be worth waiting for. Where did you hear about this?

This person claims that they'll be a new leather STM case, with a kickstand; some other users have emailed STM, and have been told they'll be a new case coming out:

Yes, my source at STM told me this case will be introduced in July. It'll be called Codex and judging from the excellent design of the Skinny, it should be sweet.

Well I am going to hold off till the first week of July if they don't release anything updated I'll go ahead and spend my money elsewhere.

I was told by a reliable source that it "will be available in early July". Have patience.

By the way, to the guy who was soo concerned about the 1/2" x 1" STM logo on the cover - I looked at it, and I peeled it off. There is a little residual glue left on the case, but just so you know, you can peel it off if it bothers you that much.

I'm really pumped up to see this leather one. I hope it looks just as nice!

I've had this case now for about 2 weeks and I think it is the perfect case for someone that isn't dragging it out and about a ton. Some might want something a little sturdier if they are on the go a lot and take it everywhere.

Right now, I am shifting between this and the iFrogz case. I use the iFrogz when I'm traveling for work, and the STM when I'm not traveling.

Just my opinion though...

I actually tried peeling the logo off too but it looked white under the letters. Is that just the glue? And does it come off cleanly?

I'm not SOOOOO concenerned about it, I just said it was ugly and I wish it wasn't there... and that aesthetics do matter, particularly when there are a billion different cases.

Anyway, thanks for the info, that's a definite plus.

Ahh this would be good to know!

Will the skinny stand up on a bed stably? Assuming it's between to people to watch a movie, or tap the screen lightly?

Just picked up a black one from micro center and i finally found a case that fits my needs. It keeps the slim factor of the iPad and doesn't add much weight.

I ended up returning my Skinny after 6 days. The edges were fraying really badly. The store I got it from said that this wasn't uncommon. I really liked the design, but feel the quality wasn't what it should have been.

I've had mine for nearly 3 months and have no fraying issues. What do you do, drag it on the ground?

Nope. It had been around my apartment and outside to a coffee shop once. I baby my electronics and am pretty sure it wasn't anything I did so I don't know why you'd make the assumption it was something I did.

The store where I got it said that they had been getting a number of returns of this product due to fraying around the edges.
