Do you think eBags would send the repair patch or should I contact STM directly? Mine goes to sleep EVERY SINGLE TIME I flip the lid back. Drives me NUTS! I otherwise absolutely love this case!

I would try bags or even try Radtech. I emailed Radtech on Thursday and the patch arrived Monday. It's like a 1.5 x 1 inch piece of thin metal with adhesive on one side and microfiber on the other. It gets applied inside the back of the case just below the volume rocker. If you're really having trouble, you might want to jury rig a little strip of thin sheet metal there. It just blocks the magnet. Works well. Contacting STM might take a while, they're in Australia.

Getting my STM skinny tomorrow, and hope I don't have the sleep/wake problem. I ordered mine from Amazon, so contacting Radtech seems to be out, if there is a problem. Trying to be prepared, I went to the STM website. Although they are an Australian company, they do have a California office:

STM BAGS, LLC

If I have a significant sleep/wake issue, will contact the above and ask about the patch others have mentioned.

I bought my STM from ebags on ebay. I have a really bad case of on/off issue. I contacted STM directly last night, got a reply immediately and this morning they sent an email explaining the fix and sent me the patch, no questions asked. Now I will REALLY love my case :)

Here was her email:
Thank you for your inquiry. Our sincere apologies you are having trouble with your STM product. We are aware that some of the Skinny for iPad 2 items shipped with a faulty magnet that turns the iPad off when the cover is folded back on itself. Only a small portion of the inventory used this magnet. This certainly was not intended and we do apologize that you are experiencing difficulty.

That being said, we have a magnetic shielding patch that we can send to you immediately. It is an adhesive that is color-matching to the suede lining. It goes on the inside of the hard shell backing, therefore it doesn't conflict with the aesthetics of the case as it will be hidden when your iPad is snapped in.

I suspect they have addressed the issue already. The patch kit I received said it was a kit for "Skinny 1" which leads me to believe they've already altered the production to incorporate the modification. When you get the case, see if the microfiber lining near the volume rocker has additional thickness which would indicate that it's been fixed.

Also, the sleep issue is all but unnoticeable for most.

Got my skinny today. First impressions are very good. Frankly, I'm sick of this case search; and am ready to stop.

The tab doesn't seem to bother me so far (a concern before ordering it), and have had no sleep/awake issues initially. Really like the slim profile, and light weight. I've tried a number of cases that just didn't work out: Yoobao, Maroo, Switcheasy Canvas, and even the Vaja Libretto (geez the liner material on that one proved to be a colossal lint magnet).

If this wears OK, and no sleep issues start, this could be the one; at least until STM makes one in leather :).

They're coming out with a new faux leather (microfiber) case in July with a redesigned stand mechanism. I believe they will do away with the tab. I've been assured it will be great.

Unfortunately, I started to get the sleep/awake problems with the cover folded back pretty consistently (especially when holding the Skinny in landscape orientation). I've sent off an e-mail to STM, and hope a patch kit will fix the problem; especially since I really like the case otherwise.

It fixed mine. I literally cannot make it sleep.

Got my STM case the other day. Love it! My other case was the Maroo case and while it's a sweet case, it is just too heavy and bulky for my needs. This STM case feels like it's not even there, and the stand positions are sturdier than the Maroo case.

I use my iPad at my desk or around the house, so I don't have to protect it from a fall on concrete and the like.

Very happy customer.

Had a Maroo case too. It was nice, and a lot of people seem to really like it. The added bulk didn't bother me too much (although I do prefer the Skinny in that regard). My main problem with the Maroo was that the spine had no reinforcement. That made the top cover very loose, and the sleep/awake feature would constantly be turning off and on when you carried the Ipad around. The Maroo had a couple of elastic bands for the front cover, but they were a pain to use all the time.

I've noticed that the rubber trim around the flap and the flap pocket (the thing the flap's inserted into) has started to peel off in some spots. I've been able to just super glue in back, but it's a little bothersome. Has anyone noticed this with their case? It's a shame because otherwise this case is perfect.

I contacted Radtech about getting this replaced through the warranty, but I hope I wouldn't have to be without a case for long!

Rubber trim?

Rubber trim?
Take a look at the flap. Along the edge, you'll notice there's actually a thin layer of rubber (about a mm wide and maybe two tenths of a mm thick) all the way around it. That's peeling off.

I'd post a photo, but I'm at work and the only camera I have is... my iPad!

Wow, score one for Radtech and STM! I emailed them about my problem and they responded to say that they're sending me a replacement case! They're an amazing company with a really great product and fantastic customer support!

I already recommended this case, but now I HIGHLY recommend it! I like the flap, too.

I must say, compared to alot of threads in Macrumors about ipad2 cases, this STM case has received almost 100% positive feedback. Any negative feedback has usually been followed up with a prompt response from the manufacturer or retailer. Just about everyones response to the case has been that they love it while almost every other thread complains about one thing or another wrong with their case or the horrible customer service they've received. It's nice to see that good companies still exist out there.

It seems like the tab and flap are actually a plastic/rubber material with the rip stop material bonded to it. I'm pretty sure of it with the tab since there is some rigidity to it.

I have a black iPad and I'm unsure whether to get a berry or black skinny case. Does the berry look girly or anything?

I decided on the berry and really like it. It's a deep red (not quite maroon), and doesn't look girly. I'd describe it as almost a wine color. I'm sure the black would look good too.

On a side note, I had contacted STM about the fact that sometimes my case would put my Ipad to sleep when the cover was folded back. They were quick to get back to me, and today I got a patch kit in the mail. I applied it, and no more sleep/wake problems. Since it's under the Ipad, you don't even know it's there.

Hey All,

After looking at this case I am interested in it, but one question I have. Does it fit the ipad if you have ghost armor on the front and back?

I have a skin on the back of mine. No issues/ problem.

The way the iPad slips into the tabs on the Skinny, a front screen protector might be an issue in the sense you may ruin it, but I'm guessing.

Ah well, ordered. I guess I'll see when I get it. Sounds like I might be ok though!

Thanks!!

No issues with my front protector and Skinny.
