Hmmm, UPS driver with a good job and good benefits from what I understand or some kid in a college mail room??? I'm assuming its a kid, that's all that worked in the dorm mail rooms when I was in school. My money's on someone in the mail room.

My iPhone 5 was out for delivery for a week, it was stolen off the truck on launch day!

Apple resolved the issue pretty quick, had a new phone sent out pretty fast. Picked that one up at the hub, like I am tonight

I've been reading lots of people aren't having to sign for their phones, but I thought that was a requirement with the iPhones at least. Sounds to me like if nobody signed, you need to contact UPS immediately and file a claim. If someone did sign, you need to hunt them down.

Are any cameras around, in that room, near that room?

If there are cameras you can ask the security officer to see them and find who enter that room and what times, that info will help the police.

Also you can call to Apple and ask them if they can do something because you have a serial number.

To check your serial number go to the support page from apple.com and press contact apple, there you will find all your devices and see the serial number of the device.

If I were you I go with the director and explain what happen, don't tell anyone about this in your college, on the next days tell your director that any one that has an iphone 6 has to show the serial number and using that you will find who stole the iphone.

It's pretty tough to be a UPS driver.
Great benefits and a high hourly wage.

They don't steal packages. ;)

Did you call your carrier to find out if it was activated and to report stolen to them as well?

It's not activated yet according to the Support Profile page. I bought the T Mobile version + I'm on prepaid so carrier probably won't really help.

Why would the UPS guy bother to drop off the box and then cut it open and risk being seen?

He'd just make it disappear from the truck.

This is clearly either another student or some other thief trolling unattended package rooms. It's not too hard to figure out which packages to target when the from address is "Apple" on an iPhone launch day.

Doubt it was the UPS driver. That really sucks man, good luck on the process.

Did you order yours unlocked? I bought my iPhone through Apple under my AT&T contract. When setting the phone up, you can't finish the setup without the AT&T account holders billing zip and last 4 of social.

Yeah I bought the T Mobile version. But at least I should be able to track the activation status on the Support Profile page.

Thank you so much! Title changed now

You should probably edit your first post as well to remove the part about UPS stealing it, because you really don't know who stole it. Did you tell anyone that you were getting an iPhone6 delivered to you on launch day?

Well the package actually just says it's from Harrisburg, PA, and there's nothing "Apple" about the package, so it's befuddling to me as to how someone figured out that this is an iPhone.

But how could they know that it was an iPhone inside? I mean, the package doesn't say anything except the address and tracking number.

On the side of my UPS box which held a 6 Plus it says Model No. A1522. Anyone familiar with Apple products would know that's an Apple sounding product number, and would be able to find that number online before launch day.

I just checked my box and there's really nothing that suggests it's an Apple product. But I did find something suspicious. Our school gives each package a sticker indicating the recipient and the time that the package is received. The sticker says 3:51PM. However on the UPS tracking website, it says the package was delivered on 2:48PM. Hmm...Going to check out security camera footages right now.

Ring Apple, they'll deactivate the phone and sort it out and send you a new one. Sucks though. :(

Wow. Never thought my first post would be something like this.

So basically what happened is: I had my iPhone shipped to my college, and when I went to pick it up at the mail room, I was given a box that was already sliced open, with just the packing slip and some cardboard in the box. I looked around the mail room for quite a bit and there was no sign of any iPhones. That was the point when I realized that MY IPHONE 6 HAS BEEN STOLE. Whoever stole the phone definitely knew what was inside and took advantage of the fact that the recipient did not have to be present when the package was delivered. I'm thinking about contacting the police already...

I thought today was supposed to be a really happy day for me, but now I'm just sitting here and freaking out. Any suggestions as to what actions I should take?

Sorry if there's any broken English. My brain's not even functioning now. I mean I still can't believe all this happened. Seriously WTF?!

Edit: Now that I'm thinking about it, it's also possible that the people at the mail room stole it. But how could they know that it was an iPhone inside? I mean, the package doesn't say anything except the address and tracking number.

If you ordered it through Apple, it should already have been added to your support page on Apple.com. You can go there, login with your apple ID. There, you will be able to obtain the serial number of the phone and probably Apple can flag it and not allow it to be activated.

Here's a link:

https://idmsa.apple.com/IDMSWebAuth...URL=https://supportprofile.apple.com/homePage

Also, the S/N should be on your order (if you went through Apple.com)

yeah, there is close to zero chance a UPS driver would steal it. They make good money and have great benefits. No way they risk their job to steal an iPhone.

I once worked for a company that had some computer gear stolen by a UPS driver, so it happens. But in that case, the tracking just stopped without ever showing the final destination on it. UPS did track it down and supposedly caught the guy with it in the trunk of his car on their parking lot.

So yeah - pretty stupid of them to even try it, but stupidity has no limits!

Didn't you say you picked it up at 3:50? How is this suspicious.

Since when UPS delivery guys are saints? making good money and having good benefits dont make you a good guy.... I worked as an IT and a UPS guys stole some laptops and filled the box with bricks.

pretty sure the UPS guy knows it was an iphone and since it was going to be drop in a mail room the chance of getting caught is less, because it will in the hands of other people before reaching the owner.

the iphone sells quickly on ebay for $1000+ , thats a good reason for anyone shady to steal it.
