Because they love that sweet, sweet money that comes from those clicks. Why are you posting stolen information?
I would hope a non-USB-C charging port would be to allow quicker charging and that you could still use standard USB-C for slow charging. USB-C maxes out at 100W, which is actually very constricting. My 15" Macbook will still drain it's battery sometimes even with an 85W power brick when I'm doing a lot(It's using more than 85W of power). I'd really like to see a standardized power supply that provides ~500W of DC power.
Then you didn't read the entire article. The extortionist promises to leak more stolen info if Apple doesn't pay up. Nobody here should be supporting this. If they are then they are a truly an Apple hater. Extortionist should not be supported.IDK....seems like that putting the information out in public instantly devalues it. Lol, you are on an Apple rumors website - what is the point? Why are you posting stolen information?
Two of the four thundebolt ports on my 2016 MacBook Pro have worn out. All four could fail before the battery or keyboard does. I for one am looking forward to the magsafe. Hopefully usb-c will work for charging too for when travelling.USB C is the best thing to happen to device charging in decades.
I absolutely DO NOT WANT to return to proprietary chargers and connectors. Apple, hope the Magsafe is optional and this will remain chargeable from a USB C port.
THIS ... depending on where I am and how charging cables are laid out or desk arrangement is I can charge from whatever side is more convenient - I already forgot the struggle in some places to pull on the cable so that I can change and work in a convenient position ...Another huge downside of MagSafe only charging would be losing the ability to charge from either side of the MacBook which depending on your position in relation to your outlet is a lifesaver.
What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. Not even the same thing. Apple can charge $1mil for a Mac and it's 100% legal for them to do so. That's not stealing. That shouldn't have to explained to you. Taking owned property illegally is stealing. If you can't understand the difference then nobody can help you.Why is enveryone worrying? Apple steal from us too with their inflated price tags.
Why are you posting stolen information?
Breaking an NDA is not a crime by itself.Yeah I feel as conflicted as well. To be fair, leaks and previous "new information from supply sources" are equally illegal given they also breach the NDAs. Yet at the same time, it's not everyday we get to learn more about upcoming products to such detail unless it was done by established researchers.
But I totally agree with you. MacRumors should really not report on this case, PARTICULARLY when they are asking for a ransom.
This article is just wrong.![]()
This is journalism. Has anyone heard about the Pentagon Papers?

Well that's just great. Hopefully you'll have that same mentality if someone steals your personal info and decides to make it public or they will extort from you. Cause it's "journalism".Dang people. Not like MR stole the information themselves. I fully expect them to report this information if they have obtained it. This is journalism. Has anyone heard about the Pentagon Papers?
The hackers went after the deepest pockets, but since Quanta is technically at fault, I imagine they are going to be coming up with the money if anyone pays. In this situation Quanta probably has much more to lose in the form of business than Apple does.Apple will quickly pay I bet, they’ll come to a secret agreement, or Apple will pay black hats to target the company.
