Fortunately, this hasn't happened to me yet. I don't even have that AI toggle. Though I don't use Chrome all that much - only if/when something doesn't work correctly on Safari or other browsers.

The only other one I tried and used a bit was sigmaos but now it’s discontinued I think (it was WebKit)

Over the years i have tried a load of browsers, I prefer the older ones. The new ones we have now they just seem to be bloated, full of stuff I don't want or need.
I look now and again at different browsers to see what they are like and if they are better than what I use.
Now that Firefox allows the AI to be turned off, that is better than it was, but still bloated.

I checked today on the Current release of Chrome that is RDP-installed on my work lappy: the AI-whatsit-frass is opt-in (which I did not activate).

No Google software on my MacBook. No Microsoft. No Adobe. Plenty of good software available without intentional installation of spyware and bloatware. AI has some good uses, but certainly not writing. AI is good at proofreading and spell checking—catches dropped words and finds spelling errors in context, such as misuse of two, too, to.

Your iPhone already has local downloads of AI models. And it's bigger than 4 GB.

Yup as a part of the OS. And, because of the way the system is set up, they WON’T be receiving an ADDITIONAL 4 Gig courtesy of Google. If they do, it will be part of an intentional download, which is what it should be everywhere.

Dear all,
There is almost zero reason to use Chrome as your browser. Here are more privacy friendly alternatives that you will hardly notice if you switched to:

* Brave Browser
* Vivaldi
* Firefox

I promise you wont miss a thing(unless you are entangled in the Google Suite ecosystem). The choice is yours.

It is in the screenshot saying its used for scam detection.. How is that a bad thing for some avg user? We honestly need more of this, even from Apple on some level.. The levels of theft of peoples money, etc is really a serious issue.

Fun turn of events, the latest 26.5 removed OpenAI's Atlas browser saying it was a virus.. 🤣

Ah, yes. Now it is the update detecting the AI as a potential threat. Oh how the tables have turned. "Finally, software is getting us somewhere showing us the threats of AI."
