Exactly. This is the same attitude that smokers used to exhibit regarding their second-hand emissions. Many people refuse to consider, acknowledge, or care that their actions have consequences on others, the environment, and the general ethos. Sadly, this is only getting worse year over year.
I have this exact problem with fragrances! I'm allergic and can't even go in my back yard on days my neighbors are doing laundry! And I can smell them when they are in their own yard because of their laundry products and... what else they are wearing?

Makes me laugh when people receive a phone and then complain about the specification or lack of differences from their old phone and send them back. Surely they know what the new specifications are.
THIS! However: I will say.... that hubby ordered the desert phone because EVERY video and the keynote all showed a darker color.... and on different devices: macs, phone, TVs, etc.... so it wasn't just one device having the color off on it.... He was very disappointed that the color is sooooooooo light! he didn't swap it out, but i'm sure since desert was the hot color and others weren't he could have.... but otherwise... he KNEW what the other specs were and the small size differences from his 13 because... ding ding ding... we utilized apple's compare tool before ordering!

Where do you people with 14 days return policy live? We don't have that in Norway, at least not if the phone is used.

Actually, Apple (and other manufacturers) are forced to "offer" that "choice."
In my country, Apple (and other manufacturers) are forced to "offer" a 2-year statutory guarantee. In some countries in the EU, that statutory guarantee period is even more, like in Ireland, where Apple Europe is headquartered.
Good point, never thought of that ;)

Unless you work at Apple and have inside knowledge, you can’t know for sure. I don’t buy in the least return abuse is baked into the pricing. That sounds pretty ridiculous. 🤷🏼‍♂️
As a retired marketer I can assure that returns are baked into pricing. It's one of many factors including the 14 day return policy and warranty repairs, and free shipping to name several.

The amount of people I see on this forum ordering the latest iPhone and then returning within the return window is really frustrating. I would suggest it’s only so those doing it can take part in the pre-order/new release hype with no real intention of keeping the device. But it takes away a phone from someone else waiting during launch, not to the mention the environmental impact and administrative burden.

Has it bothered anyone else seeing this practice be mentioned on here?
I've mentioned this before & got flamed for it - I can only assume that Apple have carefully calculated that they end up ahead. I'm trying to not get annoyed by things other people do, but yep, bugs me!

It's incentivized by the way the stock and launches are operated. It sucks, but it's the reality for those who are diehard and really do want the device day one, but don't know which one they want. In all honestly, Apple should be releasing demo units to the stores (and all their partner retailers) a week or so ahead of time to allow for people to go see them in person first and then pre-order after that. But, that's just not how it works :(.

Don’t worry, the 16 is the least desirable, iPhone probably ever. I’m sure there will be plenty of stock.

Completely agree, there are actually people I have noticed both on this forum and some other forums over many years who grift like this depending on the return laws in their region/country.
They consistently get a new device then return within the return window and come up with some lame excuse.

Often times they are excited when the phone arrives then shortly before the return window ends they almost build the story of some make believe problem they find, sometimes they post a thread and act very OCD about their device, trying to find ANY reason to return it before the return window ends, lmao!

I am not saying everyone who returns their devices is doing this, but you can often tell who is making up BS.

I have never returned a launch day phone until today. I ordered the desert titanium and I have tried to like it for a week now but it's just not for me. I have ordered a replacement and will use my 12 PM until it arrives in October.

Returning my 16 Pro on Apple's dime because they screwed me over on launch day.

This was the "missing" iPhone last Friday morning that UPS refused to look for until I filed a police report with the Ontario, CA police dept.

Once the police report was filed, a LEO made a visit to the local UPS hub and like magic - UPS finds my missing iPhone.

Delivery was 6 days later. Still could not pick up at the UPS customer counter - they had to deliver in person.

Had gotten another 16 Pro at the Apple store on Saturday.

Got the Apple survey yesterday and gave them all failing marks and complained that this launch was the worst I have ever experienced. Apple should never contract with UPS.

Lesson learned:
Never ever going to pre-order for delivery - only will do ISPU.

Lost phone returning via Fed-Ex - let's hope Fed-Ex doesn't screw this up.....

1200 pounds.. of course that price dictates the return and Apple knows that
Also the returned phones they will go back to factory and sealed again as new/replacement
Actually that relaxed policy Apple has in place for so many years has not hurt them a centesimo

I also think it’s outrageous.

I know Apple allow it, but they don’t want everyone doing it.

It’s also an impact on environment. I’m amazed that people just order more than one of the products in different colours just for their own benefit, without any guilt.

Order what you need. Stop ordering different options and sending them back, it’s pathetic!!

Nobody NEEDS an iPhone. Apple should stop selling them immediately.

The world's entire economy is based on some providing what others want, not just what they need.

The return policy is useful. I’ve already returned 3 iPhone 16 pros because each one had dust/particles under the camera lens, and 2/3 had scratches on the display or titanium frame.

Quality is absolutely abysmal these days compared to iPhone 3-5 era, so the return policy is handy.
Never had an issue with Apple product quality. Funny anyone else notice it’s seems to hit the same people again and again.

Back in the day, we had an iBook that failed. It started smoking.

Contacted Apple concerning warranty repair. Went through the whole thing. Well into the process, they asked if they could replace it rather than repair it, so that Apple's engineers could examine it and understand what happened.

Fine with me! Got a slightly upgraded iBook.

I ordered launch day fully expecting to keep the 16PM, but after receiving it and and transferring all my data I was unable to load my Recent Photos. Spent a few hours on line with support, but they couldn’t resolve the issue, so I returned it.

This makes sense, you are definitely not the sort of person they are talking about here.

“I ordered two iPhones in the morning, I returned two iPhones that night, I ordered two more iPhones in the afternoon, it makes me feel all right, I order two iPhones in time of peace, I return them in time of war, I order two iPhones before I order two iPhones, and then I return two more…” - Sublime, maybe
