Thanks for the update on john Lewis.

Just spoken to the Apple Store in Reading. No stock at the moment. Same advice as before. "Keep checking as we are expecting stock, just don't know when."

Apple Store Brighton

Popped into the Apple Store in Brighton today. They have display stock (all three colours, not sure about which models), and very limited stock of silver for purchase. They had gold and sold out immediately, and haven't had any space grey yet apparently.

Apparently the Macbook appears as "in-stock" at Currys online but I'm not sure it actually means they have it.
Also from speaking with a John Lewis rep, there's one and only store that has some physical availability at the moment and that's.... Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

Currently stood in Currys with my sister buying a fridge freezer.
Whilst she's paying I've wandered over to the Apple section (it's huge here as it is a mega store) and they have a gold model on display.
I just called the lad over he says they have stock of all models (including base model and higher specced model) but not in gold but he's just double checking.

He just came back. No 1.2 models.

But 1 each of the 1.1 in silver and space grey.

I'd snap it up if i hadn't have chosen Barclays finance to pay.

Worth checking your local stores guys.

Also the keyboard on this thing. Damn it's a new experience!

Thanks for the Currys update. Really looking for a 1.2 so if anyone finds one post it up.

Josh

If you actually go ahead and try to order it on Currys, they promise delivery on Friday 8th May.

Same for PC world but of course they are the same chain.

How come PC World and Currys can get stock but Apple stores can't.?

I would go for the currys option if you didn't have to pay upfront for instore collection. I just can't see them delivering this to store on Friday?!

I know I feel the same. I wonder how accurate their online stock system is, been caught out before (not with Curry's I might add) by ordering at night only to find them not being able to fulfill the order the next day.

I see the Apple site has now come down to.......3-5 weeks !!

Thanks for letting us know about Currys (wasn't showing as in stock earlier in the day so they must have had a delivery lunchtimish) and have ordered the base model in Gold for evening delivery tomorrow.

Lets see if it arrives.......lol

Keep us posted.

I intend to call Barclays tomorrow re my lending option and see if I can cancel it. If not, I'll wait it out but if I can (item hasn't dispatched yet) then I will go to Currys from work, try and get their store finance and snap one up.

Might end up with silver which I never thought I'd say - but SG is not really doing it for me.

I have just been looking on currys for Edinburgh and there was click and collect available for tomorrow! I didn't go right thru to check it out for sure. I would order - even paying upfront online to get this ahead of my apple order but I am eligible for apple educational discount.

Does their finance worl out any better rate than Barclays.

Decided to take the plunge with currys. Worst case I have to wait a little longer but hopefully should come before the 3-5 weeks quoted on apple site.

Delivery to store is saying Friday 8th may...

£13 cash back aswell.

Just ordered Space Grey base MacBook for delivery on Friday 8th between 5pm-8pm at an extra cost from PC world website.

I have a nagging doubt that the only thing that will be delivered will be an apologetic email....

Exactly my feeling.

^^^^ That is good news .

Well just checked my order this morning and it still shows 'Processing'. My pessimistic side of me still thinks this won't go through though.

Will keep you posted.

Just ordered from Currys...

Just placed an order for a Space Grey 1.1 rMB from Currys and they're offering next day pick up in store on Oxford Street. Had my order confirmation through, so expecting to pick it up on Friday.

A bit better than the projected 1st-12th of June Apple is still suggesting.

We'll see...

Alas, I have to wait until June for the Apple stock. As a student, I got a nice discount from Unidays which Currys don't do. Does anyone know if there is another way to get as student discount from PC World or Currys?

I've ordered from Currys too (I hate that company). Delivery tomorrow.

Just called Apple Trafford Ctr and they said they had a small delivery today and they have all sold out again. Strange that. I called 3 minutes after they opened!!

Don't forget the staff at Apple chose to work there for a reason. I'd imagine some are as eager to get their hand on a macbook as well. So it's very reasonable to assume that at least some of the staff snapped the first few units coming in.
