I got my order after a min in keynote and was able to get in for Friday delivery.

April 7-14 for the Nano-etched glass with VESA adapter. I placed the a few minutes after the webcast ended.

This morning I received an email from financing that my Studio Display has shipped, however on the Apple Store app it is still saying it is being prepared for shipment. UPS reference only says a label has been created.

And yet, it's going to come this Friday on launch day.

Was your original delivery estimate March 18th?

Gah mine is showing May 11-25th. That’ll teach me to hang around and thing about things ?

I’m going to check on Friday and see if I can pick one up from apple store instead as they may have stock there earlier.
You know that you can order and still think, yeah? If you'd ordered first thing, you'd have a launch day delivery, and between then and now if you'd changed your mind, you just cancel, and nothing lost.

I'm going to try to score a Studio Display tomorrow. I ordered one, but was late in ordering and have an expected delivery date of 3/25-4/1.

Traditionally, when would Apple charge for this? I'm guessing probably tomorrow or Saturday. If so, it's impossible to cancel then and I guess I'll have to decide whether to get it and return it or simply wait an extra week for the display.

My wife's display isn't expected to delivery until mid-May because she got the height/tilt adjustment. So definitely will try to score her one at a store tomorrow if they have any available.

I wonder if folks will be cancelling their display order.
Will see how it works on my desk before I consider returning it.

600 nits brightness may be an issue....

Ordered the base display without nano texture as the review said it is easy to smudge.....

I'll judge for myself when it comes tomorrow. I understand why the reviews are lousy - they're comparing to a 6K ProDisplay XDR. Granted, the camera issues need to be straightened out, but that is likely more a software issue than a hardware one. But you can't compare this to displays that are higher end. They should be comparing this to the LG Ultrafine 5K and 4K...

But what I've wanted for a LONG time - was my 5K iMac display, in a enclosure that had a webcam and better speaker system than my 4K LG piece of junk... I also wanted something that integrates with the Apple ecosystem.

Would HDR and ProMotion have been great additions? Heck yes. Would true blacks due to local dimming zones have been great? absolutely. But lets reset expectations here - those options are available already... on a $5000 display.

I’m not cancelling. Got a big hole on the desk ready for it.

Also remember that a lot of reviews are completely alarmist.

It’s a verifiably good monitor, just people had some really high expectations.

I think a lot of people were expecting more for the money which is fair but where can you realistically actually get a 27” 5K display that doesn’t look like some horrible junk ass PC accessory with speakers and a webcam in which aren’t too bad that will actually charge your MacBook Pro? Literally nowhere. At least here in the UK you can’t even get the LG equivalent.

On the cost front, this is going to be £45 a month over the warrantied lifetime (applecare included). It’ll probably last at least twice that and we have a wonderful thing called CRA 2015 here which pretty much gives stuff like this a 6 year warranty out of the box if they vendor likes it or not. So that’s down to £22.50 a month, which is not a whole lot of money.

Has anyone in the UK had a shipping notification yet? Mines still showing as delivery Tomorrow and they've taken the money :)

On the reviews front... other than the webcam issue, which is hopefully software... it still sounds exactly what I expected - I knew what I was buying going in "a 5K iMac, without the Mac..."

I hope I get mine sooner ?

Based on the reviews:
1. Surprised by the attached power cable.

2.A little sad about the webcamera's quality, but compared to the Logitech Brio ($180) I think it's a better option. Compared to the LG? Ehhhh I don't know, the LG looks better to me but that seemed more like a color science where the LG was recording deeper blacks and the mid range values weren't being brightened/blown out by the Studio Display's camera - I feel like it's an easy solution in post / software fixes.

Still content with my decision: Purchased 1. Couldn't justify the price for 2 without getting my hands on one first. Would still probably wait to purchase a refurbished Studio Display at a discount for a dual setup at a later time.

Off topic, but Universal Control has... my gosh... decluttered my desk space even further and I couldn't be happier. I had 2 Logitech mouses, one for my MBP and one for my MBA. I would always have to switch mouses to navigate either or while working. Now I just use one mouse to control both, no hiccups for me yet ? If I had access to Universal Control sooner, I would not have purchased a second mouse.

Edit: Looking at reviews and it seems like the software fix will bring it up to iPad level.

Joanna Stern compared it to an LG UltraFine 5K and a 4K LG monitor.

Thanks. After watching her review - I didn't think it really stacked up that bad. She at least did an actual comparison against monitors that it should be compared against. She noted that display quality was on par, speakers were fantastic, its ability to dock multiple devices via a single cable, and a camera that leaves a bit to be desired.

Again, its all in the eye of the buyer. The reviews from the Verge, CNET and others compared it closer to the ProDisplay XDR which isn't going to be anywhere near the comparison it should be getting. Kudos to Joanna Stern for at least thinking through her comparison clearly. I think I have the same LG 4K that she noted in the review - and I can't wait to part with it.

Just had my dispatch notification (UK) and even tho Apples site says '18th Delivery' when I go into the tracking with 'SynView' (never heard of them before) it says 21st :( hope that's just an error.

Good review here on the gamut and image quality...seems to fit the bill for my needs. Haven't cancelled my order just yet.
