I'm just wondering if I should stop at the mall on the way home and pay for it as well, maybe it'll speed up the pickup process on the 24th if i'm already paid for as well?
You'll need the actual unit in hand before the Apple Store can charge you for it. They don't have the ability to accept pre-payments.

Did you guys get a confirmation email? I just did this as well through the App because apple.com keeps on failing...lol I'm still going to try and buy one and ship it to my house.

Nevermind...I just got the email confirmation.

App crashes on me when it gets to the part where it connects to AT&T servers. Even tried restarting phone.

I installed it, and went through the menus quickly, entered the last four of my SSN and billing zip code for AT&T, and made my reservation in minutes.

Anyone else having luck with this?

I was able to do this for my 16GB iPhone 4 at the Tyson's Corner, VA Apple Store.

This app does work I guess. Even though it kept telling me "A reservation could not be made at this time. Please try again later"... and I hit "book reservation" probably 100 times... I just received a confirmation email of the reservation. So to anyone who receives that error message... I guess the app really does send it through and it SHOULD work. Although, it too tells me I have to pay the full $599 when I am eligible for the $199 upgrade price. I hope they fix that.

OMG!!! Now when I try to reserve it, the two phones are greyed out and say unavailable for the quantity!!!!!!!! Are they sold out already!!!!!!!!!!

Well here is the text of the email that I got right after I did it on the App the first go around. The iPhone app showed $299.00 (since I am eligible for upgrade), but email showed $699.00 like everyone else. Doesn't anyone test these things? Hopefully, it will be rectified at the store. At least safety in numbers.

Also hoping that there are two lines - reserved and no-reservation lines or it'll be absolute misery. The stores will be mayhem like for the 3G launch. Would have preferred to have it shipped to avoid the stores though. May keep trying online throughout the day.

Were you trying to pre-order more than one iPhone?

I know that each iPhone pre-order seems to require its own iTunes account. I had to sign off mine, and sign on to my wife's account to pre-order her iPhone and it went through perfectly after giving me the same problem as you.

After 6 hours of trying online, I downloaded the App and my wife and I were both able to reserve iPhones for pickup. We did need two separate accounts, though.

well that was brilliant! it took less than 5 minutes. I'm just hoping now that it will be available. I assume the reservation is really saved. It's under my preferred store.

Sucks for us that don't want to have to go to the store though. I can't spend hours at the store to pick up a phone, so I'm trying to pre-order for delivery and still getting nowhere.

This works!!! Download the Apple Store app, and use it to reserve your iPhone in-store. They do not let you have it delivered via the app.

Would have preferred delivery - I think I'll try online later again. So darn frustrating.

So all the people waiting in line at Apple Stores now are just to reserve one, no one can pay? Interesting, saved myself a lot of time.

How to reserve your iPhone 4 with APPLE!

I have been trying to reserve my iPhone 4 for the last four hours at apple.com. I did not have confidence in ATT to have the phones the day of launch for everyone.

I then downloaded the new iPhone Apple Store App on my iPhone. I reserved my iPhone at my local Apple store within 1 minute...first try!

I think this is the best route!!!

Good Luck!
