Just in case this needs to be explained,

One can get 105 stars without beating Bowser. After beating him Mario goes back, talks to the lady and then the purple comet/trial galaxies become available.

Get those last 15 stars, beat Bowser again and then something happens...

unless i missed one, i think bowser actually represents the 105th star, meaning you can get 104 stars without beating him.

Okay, well that makes sense. I could figure out where I was going to get the other stars.

BUT: I already did the three trial galaxies and I haven't fought Bowser. Are there more?

I have almost 9,000 star bits. Can anyone top that? :D Let me say, some of those purple coin levels are real pain in the arse. I'm at 117 stars and am having some real trouble trying to beat the desert purple coin level. I spent over an hour yesterday trying to beat that one level and still haven't been able to.

Now, did anyone else notice this? When you start the game and are on the save slot select screen, you can spin the head of your avatar. If you spin it really fast, the avatar's eyes will close...and open, again, once the spinning slows down.

Also, why are the toads so lazy? They have a ship, why can't they help Mario out by flying him to a platform or catch him if he falls? Instead, they just stand there, doing nothing but making semi-uselss comments or sleeping. I swear, those annoying little buggers....Mario should make some mushroom pasta out of them. I did discover something interesting, though....if a ghost hits one of the Toadstools, the ghost will be destroyed.

And a question: Why does Mario have both an object/block pushing animation and wall hugging animation if he never uses those functions anywhere in the game?

It took me until about 50 stars to realise that yes, Mario can wall hug.
A mystery to why they left in needless animations.

I know I'm way late, but I just got 60 stars and beat Bowser. That final stage was amazing! Loved the last boss and it was actually challenging, but I still beat him without nearing death (though I only missed getting hit by a hair several times).

I was hoping that I could fight Bowser Jr. after beating him to extend the fight a bit more. But still, epic final stage, epic final fight :)

Gosh Praxis you're slow:D

I've had to give up on console games ATM. Gotta get so much work done, I promised a Christmas trailer for my game showing off the new art, areas and bosses. I've only got an hour or 2 free in the day and that goes towards EATING and SLEEPING.

:(

I think I have 10 stars.

I opened up the second observatory and played a bit, but got distracted. I would like to finish the game though, but it looks like Zak & Wiki will be first.

<]=)

I'm right around 112 and not too motivated to get to the end right now for some reason. My mind is going back to RE:UC and Zack and Wiki.

I know :( I'm working part time, attending university, and running a press site; on top of that companies keep sending me games to review, some of which are crappy (license titles and kid games...including a pony one...sigh), so I've hardly had time as of late :(

I actually beat SMG yesterday and Phantom Hourglass this morning. Yes, I'm THAT slow :D I just haven't had enough time!

I also got Guitar Hero 3 and a crapload of other games too. I spotted Zack & Wiki for $22 so I grabbed it but it's not coming out of the wrapping for a while. I have to finish playing MegaMan Star Force and Fishing Master too...

1 to 2 hours of sleep? How are you alive?

And you should post info on your game here...or links to some info. I'm curious to see what you're developing. Is it something we would have a chance to play in the future? (i.e. a Wii or Mac game?)

As for Galaxy, I'm still stuck on that stupid purple coin level which a posted about, a while back. I want to finish Galaxy, already, so I can unlock the secret and finally get started on Fire Emblem....

Just picked up SMG. I couldn't get to a Tescos or Sainsbury's to get one and only HMV and Gamestation had it in stock. Gamestation had it at £34.99 and to my surprise they did 10% student discount too, score! I haven't played it yet but I'll start soon. I just hope its better than Sunshine.

PS Count me in for an OS X or WiiWare version of Tormishire. ;)

Thanks. I'll post there, from now on, regarding that game. I don't know how I missed the word on it, all this time. Anyway...back to Galaxy!

Oh no, I was just posting it there to show you! That thread is like half a year old :D

Super Mario Galaxy seems very cool so far. Light years ahead of Mario Sunshine Out Of My Arse. The only downsides I've discovered so far are that Ray Surfing sucks balls hard and sometimes I feel one of their main reasons to do the whole sphere mode of gameplay is so that they can pass off crappy camera angels as a design "game feature". It certainly feels like much less hard work than SMS was - those water jets thingies were the suckiest things ever.

I personally really liked the ray levels. Those were fun and actually quite easy for me. It's all a matter of how skillfully you can use the Wii Remote...to which I had no problem. Just wait until you play the ball levels....

I hate the ball levels and the ray levels. I do the ray levels really slowly and still fall off. Damn waves.

I still haven't beat Ball Rolling Gizmo... every time I play that level I die near the end and nearly throw my remote out the window.

I love this game so much! One of the best Mario games in a LONG time. I think I like it even more than Super Mario 64.

Nothing can beat the original Super Mario Bros., though. :)

Had one ball level now. Died a few times because I was trying to get every coin and star bit. Nowhere near as annoying as the ray ones. Its because I rush the ray ones though, they're so not fun that I just want to get them out of the way.

I'm not sure if I like the comet things. I've had a speed and a cosmic one and both weren't all that fun, I like to take my time over levels and don't like being forced to speed around like a mad man.

All in all though, this is an awesome game. Such good fun. So much better than both Sunshine and 64. I like how you can unlock loads of levels really easily without having to complete every single star and I like how when you die you don't have to start the level from the beginning again (mostly). Thos were the reason I stopped playing Sunshine, I got stuck on some really irritating stars that made you climb up through nets over a ship yard really high or something - one small mistake meant game over. I don't have the patience or time to try something over and over and over again.

I love the Ray Surfing. I did not honestly find it that hard.
