I am getting frustrated w/ the camera. At retarded times it won't let me move it.

Yep - the camera is my major issue with this game, and one that certainly should have been recognised in those glowing perfect score reviews and yet was somehow never mentioned.:rolleyes:

When you consider Mario 64 & Mario Sunshine rarely had any camera troubles, it is a big kick in the teeth.

Every time I talk to the mail shroom midget he always shows me the same letter from Peach that includes five lives. I can go to that guy any time and get free 1-ups. I beat the final Bowser level and have 67 stars, so Peach is safe, yet the letter still says "I'm in a faraway place, but I know you're coming to save me," and the shroom still says "even when the princess is kidnapped, she's so thoughtful" or whatever. Is that normal?

The music has been commented on. It's nice, but sometimes way inappropriate. Sometimes great though. Very inconsistent though. Love the sound effects in the game...like in the observatories and what not. Good feel to the game. But sometimes that music just doesn't fit the mood of the level at all.

And the stupid camera at times...they just lock you into one look on purpose to make things harder...I understand the decision but I don't like it :)

I think I'm the only person out there that don't care for Mario 64....Sunshine was alright and galaxy is much better.

Is it just me or mario runs really slow...I mean racing with the fake mario thing(from sunshine) I just wanted to kick mario in the butt...get it moving fatty!:D

Bless

I'm with you 2nyRiggs. I never liked 64 Mario much. The camera was flawed to me at times...particularly when near a wall. Plus I just hated the 64 controller...felt cheap to me.

In Galaxy I wonder why Mario is so slow. Was racing the evil Mario in some loop under water level. Why does it take him so long to start swimming? That was really frustrating.

Well, he *is* kinda fat. He's also a gangsta-a** n****, and as we all learned from Office Space, real gangsta-a** n***** don't run for s***, Cuz real gangsta-a** n***** can't run fast.

...

This is why I should get more than 2 hours of sleep a night.

Nice Office Space reference :)

Well beat it at 60* in two days of playing. I hope when you beat it again at 120 it's harder. Spoiler Possible: I died on other bosses but kind of sad I didn't die on the final boss. The three sets of two hits reminds me a bunch of Super Mario World final Bowser. Nice touch.

Paul

Ah but a well designed boss isn't one you die on, it's one you struggle with and eventually beat. I didn't die on the final boss on TP either but, like Galaxy, it took me a few moments to realise what I had to do.

Ah but Jimmi, I like ones where you do both :D You die, and each time you die you figure out why you died and get a little further.

Death is never acceptable! It's punishment for the player for not being good enough or too drunk!

i hate the star where you have to bomb the trash (2nd time). i've been working on it for what seems like ever. yuck!

Yeah that is an utter pain. I'm on that now and getting utterly frustrated with it. And its not player fatigue, or lack of skill - it's down to the simple fact that you cant place bombs accurately due to the control system in SMG, and therefore its pretty much down to luck moreover than skill.

Any game level that favors luck over players skill has it's balance wrong. period.

Have you guys realized what the yellow dots on the floor are for? Just put a bomb at least sorta close to each dot and you will win it.

Well deh!!! ;);)

We know that, it's the fact that throwing grenades accurately is very hit and miss. Add to the fact that we are talking about a challenge which leaves ye with only 1 second spare if you manage by chance to get your grenades in the right place without any mistakes anyway, so your left with a very frustrating challenge.

I have actually completed it now, but it was still a chore. :)

I worked out a pattern, felt really old-skool doing that. A strict time limit and required precision and all that.

Start from the right, bomb in the middle of the higher tier trash, middle section is easy, mirror the first bomb. Go back and get each lower tier. Just requires a pattern. I thought it was easy placing the bombs  just found it hard rushing from one bomb to another!

I didn't notice the yellow dots. I just threw bombs. I got it done in no time.

Now the manta ray and monkey ball levels. Ugh. I avoid em.

if you aim and hit the yellow dot with a star bit, a coin pops out. same with just about every yellow glowing dot in the game.

monkey ball levels weren't too bad. manta ray levels were annoying, lost like 20 lives on them.
