im not shocked.

most of japanese game already using this "always online" system. all data and content stored locally on device, and always online requirement doesnt mean it will suck your internet connection, actually it consume very little bandwith.

This is why we cant have premium titles on iOS anymore.

All you losers whining over $10. You don't like the game? Fine don't buy it. While people blow their money on so many stupid things like $5 for a damn latte. But not $10 for a a decent game on your phones.

People will spend hundreds on gems in free to play games but not $10 on a full experience with no NAGGING or GRINDING or ADS.

Lesson is people make NO SENSE.

The irony comes when people see nothing wrong with blowing a million dollars on a game with iaps. Or if they don't pay, they are likely doing something else like grinding or watching ads to get more credits, which impacts the gaming experience just as much.

I agree with you in terms of peoples attitudes but App Store has always been like that. Real "race to the bottom stuff" in terms of pricing a lot of it brought about by the silly overly restrictive nature of the App Store and Apple insistence on shaking everyone down for 30%.

The real irony being Apple trying to push iOS as a pro level platform. It never will be for most while they oversee a system whereby nobody would make any money making pro software for it.

I asked that question earlier and no one is answering.
I'd like to know that too

My wife purchased it, I signed into her App Store account on my phone, clicked the purchase button (there is no Restore Purchase button), and, since she had already purchased it, a dialog box simply told me it would download for free. This is just like the old system before Family Sharing where you could share apps with family since you can have your account associated with several devices. We both linked to our separate Nintendo accounts with no issues. I signed back into my App Store account and no problems.

Do you have to link a nintendo account to retrieve your purchase ? I bought the game on my iPad, but I want to play on my iPhone also with the same apple ID, but I cant find a "retrieve purchase" button anywhere, and I dont want to buy the game again by mistake.

I hate microtransaction for this.

Always read the fine print

I've been dying for a good iOS game and I was all set to buy this one sight unseen on launch day. But the news of that always-on internet connection thing... It's gotten to the point where it's easier to pirate games than to buy them, because when you pirate them you don't have to deal with BS DRM like this!

Have fun trying to pirate a game where you have to download the levels from their servers on demand.

Finished it entirely. After you figure out how the first two bosses work, they're all the same. The same thing with the obstacles, disappearing doors, and keys in the later levels.

After that you're basically playing the mini games and Toad Rally (where you're basically playing all those levels against other people).

Are the levels better, longer, harder than he first 3?
The levels are roughly the same length but if you want to see how tricky they get them play the first three again but try to go for all the coloured coins.

First there are 5 pink. Then 5 purple. The 5 silver.

Even on the first level it took me about 20 attempts to get all the silver coins.

Thats one big advertisement and hype for an iOS app. So much for "a game to make people interested in the real Nintendo games on their consoles". Nintendo is becoming Sega like it or not Nintendo fanboys.

I don't see what the big deal is about this game.

Its because its more or less the first Nintendo title ever to be released on a non-Nintendo device.

Well by that logic it should be in Japanese shouldn't it? Or in American English everywhere, including non-English speaking countries?
Which is why I specified localization. Looks like they localized it in the US for all English speaking countries. Probably a matter of gross population. Sorry.

Ok. This is the thing about the in app Purchase Sharing.

The all-worlds-unlocking is tied to the Nintendo ID account so.

1.- iOS Device with App Store Apple ID ''A'': Download App, login with your Nintendo ID, buy the 9,99 full unlock

2-- iOS Device with App Store Apple ID "B": Download App, login with the same Nintendo ID, and voilá All unlocked!

The only bad thing is that one only one Nintendo ID account can run at the same time. So you can simultaneously play on two of your Apple ID "A" devices or on one of your "A" and one "B" devices. If you try it, an error message till the other device stops playing. The same that happens with Spotify for example.

Oh my god, so addicted to the Toad Rally/Kingdom Builder combo. I think I lost something like six hours of my life to this yesterday.

Hmm... I wonder if he's a "pathetic", "entitlist*", "nitpicker" too.

Sometimes, sure.

Damning a game because you don't like a menu you have to select from one time and never again is kind of silly.

we're losers because we dont want to spend 10 dollars on a glorified flappy bird clone themed after mario.

OMFG, how is this a Flappy Bird clone? Have you even played Flappy Bird?

If anything, it's a Rayman Fiesta Run clone. I wouldn't even call it an endless runner; it's levels are finite and its mechanics are more complex than, say, Canabalt.

I mean, you're entitled to an opinion, but at least know what you're talking about.

Wonder if the 75M bytes/hour are true how they'll respond to that. Seems like they've taken a desktop model and tried to make it mobile. Not likely a good idea.

OK I just did this on my son's iPhone. Using the method I posted earlier (same as above), using the same Nintendo ID on another user's device to restore the in-app purchase, you'll be sharing the same game progress, which we don't want. So I went ahead and reinstalled, this time linked to his own Nintendo ID. The purchase button was back. I closed my eyes and pressed purchase for $9.99  Sure enough it says I already owned this and unlocked all the levels. I still have all my iTunes balance.

When doing this, make ***absolutely certain*** that you install the game with the Apple App Store ID that has already made the IAP.
