Except for airplanes (and even in that case connection is more and more common), why are people complaining about needing internet?

I grew up with mario and I think it's great, it's not console mario, it's phone mario and I think they did good compromises.

because its a single-player game for the most part...

How do you select a friend to play toad rally against? I don't appear to have an option, just a list of random players to select from.

New game: take a drink every time the guy narrating the video says the phrase "stylish moves". You'll be drunk by the end of the three and a half minute video.

Or maybe people just know the value of their dollar. Compare to other games, Mario Run doesn't seem that worth it to me. Maybe to others it's worth it. But the game is $9.99 based on the Mario Bros brand. Nintendo could have done so much better with this. It's not a bad game, just overhyped and overpriced.

I would spend happily +10$ or much more for a good mobile game. These single tap - autorun, in app-purchase "games" are not even worth playing IMO.
wow you guys are too edgy for valuing your money and not throwing it at garbage

Yeah that's basically my outlook with it. Doing a full Mario game on iOS, I'd be less likely to buy it. On-screen controls universally suck and I don't lug my controller everywhere with me. So something I can enjoy without having to wonder if my finger is going to hit the right one of four buttons suits me fine.

I spent over 6 months refining a set of controls for a platformer I made and making it as simple, responsive, precise and easy to use as possible. I'm told I did a decent job of it, but I'll happily take this simple but enjoyable game style over that, even one tapping it still feels like (watered down) Mario.

Well, just installed Mario Run on my son's iPad. He had a child's Apple ID in a family sharing account.

The app is free, so no real way around getting it through a purchased tab. Set him up with a child's Nintendo ID, and then signed into the App Store with my Apple ID, went back to the game and tried the in app purchase. It seems to have worked. But man is it wacky. I received an email from Nintendo, letting me know that a child account under my Nintendo ID just did an in app purchase for $13.99 (Canadian). Nintendo has really hooked in deep with the in app purchasing here it seems.

I do like how in the app store page it doesn't even show the in-app purchase options. i also like how the "featured" tab has nine references to this franchise, including every large banner at the top carousel. like ok apple I know you guys have a special partnership with nintendo but bending rules for people you like isn't right

Good question, I've not found any friends in there either yet. Wonder if it's been implemented or if I'm just not looking in the right place :D

Incidentally if anyone wants to add me so they can decimate me in the rally levels :D drop me a pm.

Your childhood being what? Super Mario Bros Wii? 'Cause this isn't any more a Mario game than Smash was Final Fantasy just because they added Cloud as fighter. This is a one-button on-rails pseudoplatformer.

So I see my previous post was deleted, yet Johnnys troll post still exists. How is this fair Macrumors admin?

So someone is allowed to troll me and my fair generic responses are deleted?

This is why we cant have premium titles on iOS anymore.

All you losers whining over $10. You don't like the game? Fine don't buy it. While people blow their money on so many stupid things like $5 for a damn latte. But not $10 for a a decent game on your phones.

People will spend hundreds on gems in free to play games but not $10 on a full experience with no NAGGING or GRINDING or ADS.

Lesson is people make NO SENSE.

One button to jump and that's it? It should be called Super Flappy Bird

Yeah because that's what it's like, it has none of the refinement, surprisingly flexible character control for a single button interaction or meticulous level design Nintendo are famous for. It's just exactly like the pointless waste of battery life that flappy bird was

right, we're losers because we dont want to spend 10 dollars on a glorified flappy bird clone themed after mario. we should all be winners like you and give nintendo our hard-earned cash for making a one-touch clone of many games already on the app store, but is 'special' because this one looks like mario

The only people on here slating the game are Android users that can't access it because their software and hardware choice has always been inferior.

oh please, give me a break. i have an apple product in every category, and i have zero android devices, and i still think the game is rubbish. this superiority "im better than you because i have an iphone by apple" isn't helping you get any point across.

this is probably why your posts get deleted, btw

I've added a friend via their player ID but when I go to Rally there's no option to select a friend, just a list of what looks like CPU characters to choose from?

The thing is mobile games are rarely worth $5 let alone $10. This might be but it's super iffy considering it's a shell of what a Mario game is on a Nintendo console. Until mobile game publishers put out decent full fledged games without microtransaction hell (this one thankfully avoids) I don't feel like we should reward them too generously

Anyone know how big those file downloads are? I am outside but i want to play it but that download progress bar in the middle of the game was putting me off so i closed it as quickly as possible

BTW. Does anyone understand the point of that build your own Mushroom Kingdom - thing? Because I didnt. That and also collecting those shiny coins makes this game somehow pointless.

Does Nintendo think we are some sort of magpies or what the hell?
