http://wccftech.com/iphone-8-shipping-in-october/

"According to sources based in Taiwan, Japanese blog Macotakara states that Apple will start taking pre-orders for all three iPhone models starting September 15, but the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will be shipped earlier to customers. The source claims that the iPhone 8 on the other hand will be released much later; October is said to be the slated time period when the handset will be sent off."

Latest news is depressing, I am leaning even more strongly on lining up now thanks to today's report.

So I take it no one will be lining up for iPhone 8?
Given how late the X is going to be released, I wonder if there will even be a line for the X? Thoughts?

I think I will have to line up for the X now... unless I decide to get an 8 on Friday.

As the question states... if iPhone X is all of what you feel it will be... will you be lining up outside the Apple Store to get one given supply will be limited? If so, have you lined up before for other phones or will it be your first time?
Nope. The only time I've ever lined up outside a store was for a Greninja amiibo from Toy's R Us. Even then I only showed up to the store about 30 min before it opened.

My local Apple store had zero 7+ models on launch day. Not a drop. So you can line up, but that doesn’t mean you are getting a phone even if you are first.

I stopped the "line up" game many years ago (prior to me pre ordering my present phone 6S Plus). The last time I did, the crowd "bum rushed" the outside mall doors as soon as the mall opened. Once inside the mall, the line snaked around the mall. Apple handed out tickets. Of course the first 5 in line go their choice of model. The rest had to take what ever was left over, if anything was left at all. I was near the front of the line and did not get the color I really wanted, so I got my second choice. The people in line behind me either didn't get what they wanted or they ran out of tickets and got nothing at all. I vowed, at that moment, that I would never do that again.

Oh, I think you will get your 8. I think your chances of getting the 8 are much better than then X. But, I could be wrong. We will see.

Lining up? No.
Ordering it and picking up when it's ready? Yup!
[doublepost=1506204270][/doublepost]With the last several iPhone launches we heard rumors about this model or that model being in short supply, not available, etc. Just remember: a rumor is not responsible for who believes it.

Hell no, will order online whenever it comes it comes. Preordered my Father in law an iphone 8 on Thursday, they said it would be in on October 3rd, and guess what it will be here on 9/25. It can be all hype, but even if it comes mid-late November I am Ok with waiting. I will just be sure to pre-order online as early as I possibly can.

If the shipping time is more than two weeks I'll line up. I plan on pre-ordering right at midnight though.

I'm in New York, so pre-order is at 3:00 a.m. for me. For the first time, I'm going to set my alarm and wake up and do the pre-order. Normally I would just order when I wake up in the morning and except that my delivery is going to be a bit later. But if supply constraints are so great that even ordering right away pushes me back to a December delivery, then I may just pocket a few bucks and go buy an 8.

A December date isn't bad at all.

Yeah, maybe I'd wait all the way through December. But I'm using a 6S now, so the 8 would be a very nice upgrade for me. And it would be $300 cheaper. I'm not sure I want to wait until January and also pay $300 more just so I can have the X over the 8. So if I place my order at 3:00 a.m., I want to get the X a lot closer to the November 5 launch date. If I end up with some sort of late-December ship date, it will be tempting to just cancel and walk into an Apple store and walk out with an 8. If I end up with a January ship date, then I'm definitely just passing on the X.

Lining up for a product which is and will be mass produced is utterly stupidity. If you dont get it during pre order, just wait a few weeks or months until stock is replenished. I am sorry OP but you should really have a look at your life priorities.

I remember a friend who wanted Airpods really badly and got it after months. Sometimes waiting is just not worth the time it takes and lining up can be worth it. People do it for Apple products all the time. I guess either a lot of people have mixed priorities, or they are scalpers.

I don't know, but it's going to be fun come Oct 26 and the week leading up; I'm already excited.

I wonder when supply rumors will start coming in. We have gotten mostly negative ones. Curious.

I’ll be lining up Nov 2nd. At 9pm, did it for the iPhone 6 and had a blast. Brought my MacBook, we had madden tournaments You’re basically hanging out with all Apple heads, & eating. I ended up being 3rd in line. Got whatever I wanted, color and storage.

I'll be in a third world country, with limited access to electricity, so I wouldn't be able to use it nearly at all.

Depending on where you end up this will actually make a good phone much more useful. I lived on an island in Laos for around 5 years with no electricity during the time the iPhone was launched.

We did have a small generator at our guesthouse and the phone service offered only GPRS at that time. GPRS and a video music player with great battery life and basic email browsing functions made night times a joy.

Even sometimes if not for me but you could show things to people around you. Back then people had never seen pinch to zoom on a picture. It was really magical at the time.

It's a great flashlight at night for walking on roads in the dark. The best part about it is a flashlight is your phone is always with you. I had to ride sometimes on the back of a motor bike using my iPhone as a headlight.

I think the X maybe uncalled for but an 8 plus would be pretty sweet with a battery pack if I were going to a third world country with out power.

Give those third world children their first taste of animated poop emojis.
