I would definitely wait and see how the software works and what reviewers have to say about it. It's a first of it's kind and the first Android phone from MS. While I also like the idea of it, I would never spend my money on it out of curiosity

no water resistant, if you care, maybe it should have at this price and at this time...camera is a joke, no wireless/inducted charging even its glass ...too wide for a phone, to buggy for an heavy user. What apps work, it is great...the build is fantastic and thats allI'd like to see how the integration of the hardware and software works. From what little I've seen of this, there's no sealing, so I don't think its water resistant. Plus there seems to be only a single camera?
I thin we're all spoiled with some great innovation in the mobile photography portion of phones, and not to include a great camera (or cameras), its a huge strike for me.
You may be unlucky as the base unit cannot be replaced separate to the top unit, check first you may have to send both backSo after all the years of laughing at people who spilt something on a laptop and destroyed it... I became that person.... Spilt liquid on the keyboard of my Surface Book and it was just done. Every attempt to revive it failed. And then I kinda kicked myself in the ass... The screen was still working so I was like well ill just plug into that so at least I had a tablet until MS complete goes through..... Until I realized my surface charger didn't work and me being inpatient at the time got a USB c charger from best buy since they were out of stock of the MS Surface charger, so I basically couldn't do anything. Well I suckered up and payed the 89!!!!!!!! Dollars for a charger because once again my impatience kicked in and I could have put the old surface charger no longer working in as well and gotten a replacement for free, still might so I have two! Already feeling the impact of the MS store closures..... But at least I have a tablet to use now since the screen part was undamaged. Thinking about putting it in tablet mode and see if I can stand it for more than an hour. Also thank you mechanical detach, if I wouldn't have learned that trick my tablet would still be connected to the keyboard!
Oh I am sure I will have to send both back but at least for now I can use the tablet. Plus my customer service is a little different than most since I skip everything and have a vice president at MS have the escalation team contact me. (One of the benefits of finding an exploit in windows store for them and then three months later announce a find an exploit bounty and we will pay you lol. If I had waited three months I could have walked a way with 30000. But in the end I was able to make some contacts with them. Even got an email straight from Satya for thanks.) Sorry for showboating some times it just makes me feel a little happier! You may be unlucky as the base unit cannot be replaced separate to the top unit, check first you may have to send both back
Else feel your pain I always tell my wife not to pass my cup of tea over the KB for this exact reason

That's how it worked for us one was a factory recall on the SP4 and the other was a warranty claim on the SB base unit, both times we had to send in 1stSo just a quick question. Is it the normal policy that you have to mail in your device first and let them look at it? I really had assumed they send device first and then you send back.
Microsoft and Apple, two large and successful companies, yet it seems they both use the same method for choosing names for their products: Having a monkey throw darts at words taped to the wall.Surface Pro
Surface Pro X
Surface Go
Surface Book
Surface Duo
Surface Neo
Surface Laptop
Surface Laptop Go
Man and I thought Apple’s product naming conventions were confusing. What does Go mean? And what’s the difference between Book and Laptop? 😂
However, it is less expensive and has higher specs (i5 compared to i3) than the latest base Macbook Air. But you may not be able to fry up your Full English breakfast on the case like you can on the Macbook AirThe Surface Laptop Go seems right up my street though, small carry around. That said it is still £899 for what I would consider a 'basic' spec at an i5, 8gb Ram and 256GB SSD.
Not really impressed to be honest.
