wait and see approach

I will wait to see the benchmark results b/n the two networks. I have no problems where i live with my ATT service, and I do use voice and data simultaneously ............ quite often

Verizon's customer service blows big time. I know because I switched from Verizon to ATT and ATT's customer service, in my dealings with them, are top notch. Don't let the door hit your @ss on the way out. Heck it would free up more bandwidth for me.

I actually switched from Verizon to AT&T in 2007 because of the prices. Ouch. I wasn't very happy with Verizon customer service either. Going to AT&T was more about the cost than anything because both providers are good in my area. Then AT&T got the iPhone and I haven't looked back. Sure I get dropped calls and some places it drops to EDGE but overall I'm happy. I actually use the phone very little as a phone so I don't care about the dropped calls. I use the data most on the phone so that's what matters to me. That's not to say I wouldn't switch if Verizon had better costs depending on what kind of speeds users are getting. It's all about the costs to me because I'm in a good area for both.

please, like ATT is great.

Exactly. I'm selling my iPhone 4 on Craigslist to pay the AT&T early termination fee and get a Verizon iPhone. AT&T claims "more bars in more places", I'm afraid it's the exact opposite. And for me, I'm primarily around WiFi, so the CDMA speed doesn't affect me. I'm just sick of being on the 12-hour ride home from college with poor EDGE coverage or no service at all.

Will that many people switch? Maybe.
Talk is usually cheap.
People say they're going to do lots of things.
Will they really do it? Guess we'll find out. Should be interesting.

Correct. People look compassionate when they pledge billions for Haiti and look like dirt when they fail to actual donate their pledge.

I'll stay with AT&T... Coverage isn't that bad overall where I am... I've had very few dropped calls.

ditto!
and I could in no way ever give up talking and browsing at the same time-cannot wait to hear the whiners who switched to verizon complain about that very defect in their new
service...

?

Hmm... I wonder if that survey counts those of us who bailed on AT&T at the end of our last contract period and have just been waiting for the Verizon announcement? I've been using my iPhone 3G on TMobile for months, and the call quality is noticeably better.

Reading the posts, I'm surprised so many are staying with AT&T (not talking about article).

What happened to all the posters begging for Verizon iPhone the past few years?

My service just got 26% better now.

Bye everyone... thanks for freeing up the bandwidth and GSM cell capacities for those of us who are staying where we are.

I personally don't like Verizon as a company. I don't like how if you want to increase your TXT plan or even add one or increase your minutes you have to agree to a new 2 year contract from the point forward. If I am going to agree to a contract I should be getting something worth while like a discounted phone.

My AT&T service has been terrible, just about everywhere I go. I live south of Boston. In November, Apple even swapped out my 3gs phone with a new one & it didn't help much. AT&T gave me a microcell after that. That was flaky too. My reception has gotten worse over the last year. Dropped calls galore. Or the call cuts out. My friend with a Blackberry on AT&T has noticed a similar decline in reception & call quality. I've called and complained. No real answers from AT&T. In November I was very close to bailing & going to Verizon with an Android smartphone. But I was reading the rumors. The credibility of the iPhone on Verizon Wireless became more solidified. I've been very patient. I've looked at the Android phones at the time. And while they're not bad, they're not the iPhone which is what I'm used to. I plan to switch on February 10th. As far as I'm concerned AT&T sucks big time.

Edit: All of my friends with Verizon have had NO dropped calls or signal issues. Droids, Blackberries or the like. So back to Verizon for me.

My only issue with ATT is their signal strength indoors. I go into most bars in this area and I lose all signal. Step outside, full signal.

Misprint?

Looking at the graph, I think they meant 16% and not 26%. Huge difference.

Count me in

Sure speed can be good, but when I have a good service (rare) and sure I can talk while browsing the Internet, but keep in mind that your call will drop more or less frequently, or get really bad (I mean really, hang-up and call back bad) connection.

I call my friends and they often ask, are you using iPhone? Why? Because they can't hear me.

I have a crappy flip phone from work, Verizon, that phone has NEVER dropped a call, even driving or on the train!

1000 times better to switch to Verizon, don't expect less.

I would have switched, but AT&T just put 3G into the "city," small NY town, I live in and I can use company wifi to get text messages at work since there is no service inside. I haven't dropped a call since the week I got the phone. Service has been improving.

I will be staying.

Same deal here in Houston TX. Service is fine in a lot of parts of the city, but where I live (3 miles from Downtown) I often drop out of 3G and EDGE and end up with GPRS (the little "O" symbol) or no data at all. Often my phone doesn't ring and messages go straight to voice mail when I am at home. AT&T says it's because I live indoors and there are a lot of trees near by...

So, did they suggest you pitch a tent in your back yard after cutting down all your trees?

What I want to know is, "Will this cause a wobble in the Earth's axis with all these people switching service at the same time?" Has anyone researched this, or do I have to find out by reading the Inquirer as I'm checking out at the grocery store??

I'm wondering how many T-Mobile USA non-iPhone users and how many T-Mobile USA iPhone customers are switching... ;)

Actually, I'd switch back to T-Mobile with an iPhone for their next gen service if that ever happens. Haven't cared for AT&T at all the last year and a half.
