And of course Phil Schiller will tell us "this is the best iPhone we've ever made"
One would hope.

I'd hate to watch the release where Phil comes out and says, "Well, this isn't the best one... that was back in 2014, but it's almost as good as the original iPhone in terms of memory, speed, and screen."

Continuous improvement means that you're always getting the best they've ever made.

The results of this survey must have shocked everyone involved in the process. Maybe, just maybe, the impossible could be possible again this year. The unimaginable, now imaginable. The iPhone as a product may still have a tiny bit of life left in it.

In related news, AAPL must be surging on the entirely unexpected results of this survey?

makes sense. most people i know with apple phones like to wait for the S models to upgrade. it's not a mystery anymore - which ones have the best features and least amount of hardware problems.

I'm actually the opposite. I skip the "S" models. I know they have more under the hood improvements but I just like having the fresh redesign instead.

Im on the every 2 year program. I always skip the "s" versions.

now that i think of it, maybe ill switch it up i dunno...

Have been on the non S level. The 6 was the first iPhone I did the Edge plan with Verizon on. Since they changed that back to basically kill early upgrades, I have more incentive to switch over to the S cycle this time. Force Touch will make it a done deal.

On a side note the S needs to have 2GB ram, and they need to put the 'same' camera in both size models including the optical image stabilisation, and they seriously need to make the 16GB model redundant and make it 32GB and stop price gouging. But I doubt they will.

I agree with the Force Touch statement.

Upgrade is imminent for me. My 5 is starting to give me some trouble. Gladly, ill be on the "S" cycle from here on out. A Space Black 64gb 6s+ is all I want.

Think I'll wait for the 7 or 7S, not so fond of the current design. My 5S will get even better with iOS 9.

I think the 6S will most likely be an excellent phone, fixing the problems with the 6, and adding some great features.
The 4S and 5S have probably been the best iPhones Apple have produced, when placed in their context of release date and technology at the time.

BUT, I don't like the 6 design, with the protruding camera, thick grey antenna lines, and overall device size.

So I will stick with my excellent 5S.

Hopefully the 7 will have a redesign that includes a camera flush with the surface, less ugly antenna lines, and a smaller device.. perhaps with a 4.7" screen, but in a device size that is much closer to the 5S size... ie. narrower bezels.

apparently not.. 2 0r 3 people who posted before you said they upgrade yearly as well.
;)

Hardly an issue if you resale your device or use one of the upgrade programs NEXT/JUMP, etc. - you can easily upgrade every year without hassle.

To me this classifies as a great upgrade - the only thing missing its a new design.

That's some real top notch reporting, right there. Duh. Every new iPhone outsells the previous model. Hardly qualifies as "breaking news" or even "headline material".
