Yes, yes. Of course. I believe it. After all, it's gonna be called the iPhone 6S, pronounced sixess - which sounds a lot like success!

If the 6s has 2 GB ram and LTE band 12.. I would seriously consider upgrading my 6. Those two things would be huge. Although waiting a year for the 7 wouldn't kill me either, I guess.

2GB RAM 6s means i can skip until the iPhone 9 or even 10 without having to upgrade just to keep up with the latest iOS.

Yeah, with Apple I think it's a given that we won't see 4GB of RAM until at least then. I think this will be the first 's' model to get a RAM increase which might be an indication that 1GB devices could take a heavy performance hit next year with iOS 10. Leaving the 6s with only 1GB might have put it in a precarious position late next year as a 2nd tier iPhone.

This just in:

It also found that about 50% of customers who plan on purchasing a new iPhone will do so in the next 12 months,

Amazing statistic, that! But after months of research, I've come up with a similar, amazing finding: About 100% of customers who plan on purchasing a new iPhone will do so within the next 24 months - when their contract or device payment plan runs out!

So the news is that 50% of people on a two-year contract plan buy a phone within a year?

Simple: Make it a decent modern smartphone (2GB Ram, 32Go entry, ≥12mp camera), decent look (enough with these ugly space gay and gold couch potato options, bring back true dark/black options, also nobody need those ugly white coated bands, not for cell reception, not for product recognition...) and with a few small innovations (Forced Touch will be enough).

And you've got the best upgrade you can hope for from Apple. Anything below would be the usual scam, milking, legacy abuse.

Also: Price could help. 1000€ for a Smartphone that costs 120€ to produce (all manufacturing, shipping, marketing etc...costs diluted and included) is more than overprice, it's crookery.
I don't know you reached 100 pounds for all of that stuff...did you bother to factor in R&D? do you know 100 pounds per iPhone is not accurate AT ALL?!?!?!?

I had the exact same reaction but didn't see you post when I posted mine. Now mine looks inane.

I blame this new forum format.

So in other words, every iPhone you buy is a compromise if you dwell enough over it. Now, with the assumed demise of two year contracts, Apple may have more incentive to make every 's' model more than just an incremental update. That may explain why we're hearing about more updates than are typical for a 's' model.
The s model is always the one with the most new features added... it's the non s models that mostly bask in the changes made to the form factor. Speed bumps and camera improvements are usually minor in non-s iPhones, and then you tend to get one hallmark feature like retina display or Apple Pay. I can't even think what that would have been for the 5... that had to be the lamest iPhone upgrade of all time.

If you like things to look different and new, then go with a naked numbered phone. But if you prefer your changes to be under the hood improvements and stability, go with the s-models.

I doubt that's even right just for the raw parts, let alone labor and everything else.

I'm doing my first year over year upgrade. Time to hand my current 6 down to my Mom who continues to get good use out of my old iPhone 4. That will go in the drawer for the time I eventually put together a craiglist ad and sell it along with various other old cell phones.

The key point here is that even though huge numbers of iPhones were sold last year, there is actually still quite a bit of room for growth in this market.

It's a pain to scan every other post to see whether it was mentioned, especially when you have a simple observation. How do you think the new format led to the problem?

Anyway, it's a crazy bit of "breaking news, isn't it?"

Wishful thinking. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were successfully because they finally delivered large screens that people have been wanting forever. Don't think the 6S will have anything comparable in significance. Could turn out to be another iPad Mini 2 to iPad Mini 3 situation.

I'll be upgrading from my 3GS because websites finally run too slow and too few apps are supported on iOS6. Maybe a few other people are experiencing the same thing...

I'm on the "s" cycle and staying with it. That way I let some of y'all work out the bugs and I get the updated hardware "s". Life's good
since every year hardware gets updated and bugs exist in every single software, I gont get the point of having an s device. I for myself would be sad if I get 5s then saw 6+ or 4s and then saw the 5...

I might upgrade IF:

  • the protruding camera lens is gone
  • the ugly antenna bands get thinner
  • the bend ability gets fixed
  • The A9 SoC gets 2GB RAM

or I break my iPhone 5s accidentally :D

BUT(!) it fell down 6 stories already, and is yet still working without any crack in the display.

I'm considering upgrading. I have Verizon's Edge plan and a 6 Plus on it. I may just pay the 300 and upgrade to the new phone.

All I care about is 2GB RAM.
Yep! I had to laugh because when I say the article that was my first thought. At this point there are many posts to this thread already but to see your post the very first thing just filled me with joy.

Frankly I'm still sitting on an iPhone 4 because buying a device with 1 GB of RAM just feels silly to me. That and the need for Apple to get wise about flash pricing.

I have owned every single version of the iPhone, but my 6 Plus is such a great device that I don't feel like I need to upgrade this time around.
Then don't upgrade! I'm not sure why so many want to upgrade every year
2gb of RAM sounds nice, but I honestly have not run into a RAM bottleneck on the 6 Plus like I used to on my iPad Air. But I may change my tune once the the 6s is released (ohhh, new shiny toy!).

I find the greatest need comes with running Safari for me. RAM would certainly help but if ad blocking gets implemented well in iOS 9 we might see a considerable improvement in the behavior of Safari.

makes sense. most people i know with apple phones like to wait for the S models to upgrade. it's not a mystery anymore - which ones have the best features and least amount of hardware problems.
Well said.

I hate the bigger phones. Still on the 5s and really hope Apple offers a smaller version again. Hate hate hate anything larger than the 5 (personally I preferred the even smaller version of the 4). And I also love the Leica-esque build of the 4 and 5, not a fan of the rounded edges (and bend-ability) of the 6.

Please offer a smaller phone for those of us who don't need some huge square sticking out of our pockets.

I'll likely get the new iPhone, but only if I see it as a big upgrade over the 6 plus. With the apple watch I'm happy and using the phone a bit less.

I didn't upgrade to the 6/6+ because I thought they were too big. It's now evident that there's no going back any time soon. I've had a year to get used to the idea, and, dangit, I want a new phone!

Bring on the 6s!

I'm still hoping out hope they go with the small form factor 6s, but i'll wait to see. If not i may just upgrade my phone to the 5s 32 GB which Verizon still offers online. As I get older, I don't feel I need all the newest things on my phone.

Do people use the Apple Pay alot?

I like my 6+, but I am curious to see what the Moto X and next Nexus have to offer. I just made the switch to iOS from the Galaxy with all the problems I had with it. I do miss some android features, for the first time, I am really open minded and considering the best of both OSes and multiple OEMs. The 6S/S+ is the leading choice, but I really want Samsung to fix their problems because I really think trey have the coolest features for smartphones.
