That's impressive. I knew I wasn't alone in loving the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, but having a contract that didn't run out until September (after the iPhone 6S will presumably be released).

I thought the iPhone 6 would be the peak, and the 6S would be the first time the iPhone didn't break last year's sales. Though I also thought the iPhone 6S would still outsell the iPhone 5S. Not hating on Apple, just I know growth can't carry on forever, and Apple doesn't always need it to.

New survey says tomorrow has potentially better weather whilst another survey says the opposite ....

These surveys are so enlightening ;) almost as much so as moronically obvious 'tech analyst predictions'.

Clearly flinging mud and hoping some will stick constitutes in-depth breaking 'NEWS' these days. When did FOX NEWS buy MacRumors ? :p

Yes, this. and 32 GB as the entry level iPhone. Apple would sell sh*tload of iPhones.
**** load of 32GB version which Apple actually lose revenue because 64GB owners will drop back to 32GB while 16GB owner don't do anything about upgrading storage.
Apple killed 32GB version because they want iPhone users to move to 64GB.

I would also move to the Plus but it's to huge, maybe having edge to edge screen and no home button or a slimmer one could make it in a smaller form factor.

No no no no. Stop making things so thin. The 6 is already too thin to hold without a case

I am not sure if I agree with this article, one thing that could effect the sales of the "s" models this year is that companies like AT&T are not allowing Apple to sell the phone at the subsidized rate (starting at $200). My understanding is that stores like Apple now have to sell the iPhone under the "Next" plan where the phone is paid as being part of your monthly bill. This tactic MAY be bad for sales of the phone. Or it may just force more sales of the phone to go through AT&T for people who prefer to buy it with the subsidized price. However, I do not see things from a world view, and I also do not know how current customers (in this example AT&T) prefer to buy the phone. So I may be wrong.

Simple: Make it a decent modern smartphone (2GB Ram, 32Go entry, ≥12mp camera), decent look (enough with these ugly space gay and gold couch potato options, bring back true dark/black options, also nobody need those ugly white coated bands, not for cell reception, not for product recognition...) and with a few small innovations (Forced Touch will be enough).

And you've got the best upgrade you can hope for from Apple. Anything below would be the usual scam, milking, legacy abuse.

Also: Price could help. 1000€ for a Smartphone that costs 120€ to produce (all manufacturing, shipping, marketing etc...costs diluted and included) is more than overprice, it's crookery.

Do people really need a new phone every year or so?
It's about time we took a step back from our consumerist lifestyles and took a look at what we are doing to this precious planet of ours!

True, but you were a year behind on facetime, retina, bigger screen, bigger screen again, and needless to say new design :)
True, but then you were a year behind on major camera improvements, Siri, Touch ID, huge leap in speed, huge leap in speed again, and needless to say improved design with fewer flaws and recurring issues :D

I think the 6S will most likely be an excellent phone, fixing the problems with the 6, and adding some great features.
The 4S and 5S have probably been the best iPhones Apple have produced, when placed in their context of release date and technology at the time.

BUT, I don't like the 6 design, with the protruding camera, thick grey antenna lines, and overall device size.

So I will stick with my excellent 5S.

Hopefully the 7 will have a redesign that includes a camera flush with the surface, less ugly antenna lines, and a smaller device.. perhaps with a 4.7" screen, but in a device size that is much closer to the 5S size... ie. narrower bezels.
I'm sticking with my 5s as well until the 7 comes out and will most likely get the 6s at that time -- all the stability and improvements of the s model but at last year's prices. BUT it also gives me the chance to at least consider the 7... I'm weary of the new designs since they feel rushed to market and tend to have gremlins inside, but at least by waiting a year to get the s model the option is there to at least see what is being offered and make a more informed decision.

I think it's an interesting point, and definitely very true, that for the vast majority of customers the deciding factor on upgrading isn't a new product's features, but rather whether your carrier allows you to upgrade without penalty. I wonder if that's why "s" upgrades typically receive less innovation. Perhaps Apple's mindset is, "we're going to get a phone bunch of people who couldn't upgrade last year anyway, so let's save up on innovation for the next major release and make the "s" year mainly a speed thing." With the death of the 2 year upgrade cycle, maybe we'll see some changes from Apple as well: case redesigns more often, etc.

In other breaking news: Sun Rises, Expected to Set Within 24 hours
for clarity, the sun doesn't actually rise or set.. the earth spins and makes it seem that way

(srry.. can't find much else to comment about :) ..unless someone is actually curious about when I buy a new phone.. it which case, it's January of an S model when the things aren't out of stock and lines are minimal.)

you're not really penalized for upgrading an iphone during the two year contract.. if you drop out early, the 'penalty' you pay is the remainder of the cost of the subsidized phone.
(or, saying this another way.. when you get your iphone for $200 with a 2year contract, you don't really get the phone for $200.. you still have to pay the full $700 or whatever)

In other news, for the new iPhone, Tim Cook will take the stage to announce "the biggest leap since the original iPhone" Sources also report that Tim Cook will reveal at the end of the keynote that "only Apple could do this".
This is not your first time at this rodeo...... ;)

Let's just hope apple produces enough iPhones this time around so there's no shortage. I hate having to wait to get my hands on a new iPhone.

And please for the love of God Apple, give us 2gb ram and a 16 megapixel camera.

So in other words, every iPhone you buy is a compromise if you dwell enough over it. Now, with the assumed demise of two year contracts, Apple may have more incentive to make every 's' model more than just an incremental update. That may explain why we're hearing about more updates than are typical for a 's' model.

It would have to have some convincing reasons for people to either upgrade from a 6, or not consider a perfectly good 6 which will have dropped in price.

I upgrade my iPhone every year, which i have been doing since the original model in 2007. I have a sim only tariff with my network and just buy the phone sim free from Apple. I hate being tied into a 2 year contract.
