Yeah just awful. No idea who would want that.

This is a mechanical watch.

What a bizarre product. An expensive mechanical watch made to look like a (much cheaper) smart watch while also poking fun at said smart watch. I just can’t imagine who the intended audience is for this.
It might not be as hard to imagine if you have spent time around the kind of people who don’t have a sense of taste and would spend $30k on a watch and not think twice about it. Unfortunately, I have—and don’t recommend it.

I can picture more than a few trust fund babies who might get this for novelty purposes.

Honestly I'm over it, some people don't have food to eat, homeless, and here we are with another fancy useless thing. The worst spent money.. The elite has to stop thinking only about themselves.
I mean like how dare someone be successful and wealthy. How does this mean that someone is only looking out for them selves. $30k for many isn’t that much money. Lots for me thought

Those $30K pay for the food and shelter of a lot of people, from those that mine the primary material, to those that assemble the pieces, to those who move the pieces from one side to the other, to those that advertise the item. So yes, $30K is a lot for many of us, but most of the cost is material (it's not built with cheap plastic...), and production and assembly. Thanks to items like this, we don't have more people looking for food in the streets exactly as thanks to many other cheaper items we don't have more people looking for food.
However, if someone feel compelled to pauperism about useless stuff, they might lead by example by selling their Apple stuff, canceling their streaming subscriptions, etc.

Wow, looks awful. I like my apple watch for the software features, but hate the square design. Can't believe someone made a mechanical watch that looks like the apple watch. I would love a round watch, and yes, I know it wouldn't fit as much text, but that doesn't bother me.

I don't see how that's an "Apple style lug." It doesn't look like an Apple Watch lug. And since Apple didn't invent the lug but simply copied the idea itself, you don't get to say "it's vaguely similar so it's Apple-style." The case is square. That's about it.

I get that there are rich people with no taste, but who is this aimed at? If it's for people who like the Apple Watch, then why the little spinning wheel, which seems like a troll of the Apple Watch (and smart watches in general)? And if it's for people who look down on the Apple Watch in favor of their fancy mechanical watches, why make this thing look like the object they distain?

That's the watch you need when someone tries showing off a tasteless gold-plated version of the Apple Watch.

When smartwatches emulate the design of classical analog watches this is partly done to cash in on the associations (with analog watches) this creates. This watch here does exactly the opposite, which is a testament to the (positive) associations an Apple Watch has created in our collective consciousness.
It’s true, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I bought my Apple Watch for its functionality, not for its looks.

If Apple Watch never existed and someone designed a watch matching its design, I wouldn’t buy it.

But again everyone’s tastes vary.

They sound like they should go out of business
Moser is a successful small Swiss brand which often have a bit of humour in their watches and campaigns. Very very nice mechanical engineering. A cool brand, and this one shows their humour.

Mind = blown. That is a fantastic idea. Could Apple prevent this legally somehow, though?
I have been involved in the creation of 2 mechanical watches. We are brainstorming a 3rd watch and had thought about making it compatible with Apple straps, but decided it was to risky. Note that you can find plenty of cheap Apple compatible straps but no 3rd party watch that is compatible. A bit of a pity because the Apple straps are fabulous.

Check out Oris. They aren't exactly cheap, but anyone who says they like a certain style of watch, I imagine, would find these to be in the "quite affordable" range.
yes, Oris is good, well made. There are other cool ones in the midrange segment like yema and christopher ward.

“The Swiss Alp Watch Final Upgrade is entirely mechanical with 100% Swiss Manufacture movement and a 96 hour power reserve.”

Including the writing? May I suggest...

“The Swiss Alp Watch Final Upgrade is entirely mechanical, with a 100% Swiss-made movement and a 96 hour power reserve.”
the word manufacture is important. It means a movement that the brand created itself from scratch. Which is seen as the ultimate mastery of watch creation. Most mechanical watches in the market use 3rd party movements, usually from Eta, Sellita, Seiko or Miyota. Usually the manufacture watches cost more because of the development effort vs just plugging in a 3rd party engine.

I guess they didn't use VantaBlack on the dial for the pictures considering that if they did, it wouldn't be reflecting light.

the dial is pitch black, but the crystal still reflects. And in fact crystal reflections tend to be more noticeable on dark dials than on light dials.
The vantablack dial is very cool. I have been looking for more affordable alternatives that are close enough for my own creations.
