Switcheasy Excellent Customer Service

Switcheasy really stands behind their products!

I have bought 3 Canvas cases for myself, my sister and for my wife. We all love the case.

The first case I bought for myself back in May does not stay put when I position it on the lowest position. The other two cases do not have this problem and I believe this is caused by my over-zealousness to break in the case based on initial feedback in this forum.

I contacted them via their website and was given instructions one of which was to include pictures or video of the problem. After sending them the information, they replied that they have all the information needed and I do not need to do anything else. I received email that Switcheasy shipped me a package the following day.

I would not hesitate to buy from companies like Switcheasy that stand behind their products and provide excellent customer service. :D

Kudos to Anita at Switcheasy who is very responsive to emails even the ones I sent at 11:00pm PST.

Agree as well, SwitchEasy's service was top notch when it came to my refund. I like their products so much that I ended up going with their CoverBuddy to replace my cracked Canvas.

Planned to pick up a red canvas but after viewing the video posted by psychonaut, the shade of red looks different compared to the one shown on switcheasy's website (which i prefer).

So it's either black or charcoal for me, which one do you guys think is better? Any experience with both?

I had the Charcoal at first but I noticed after a while on the spine of the case you could see where the material had worn off being folded back/stand position etc. Anyway the case cracked so I emailed Switcheasy and they said they would replace it for the cracking and I asked if I could have a Black one instead of the Charcoal and since getting it a month or so ago I have had no problems with the material wear marks and I actually prefer the Black to the Charcoal.

Has anyone tried a back shield with the canvas? Seem like I'm getting small scratches from the canvas not sure if it's the case or dust got between the case and pad.

Mine spine is the same as yours, I contacted them and sent a picture. It's a defect and is replacing mine.

I'm on my 4. Canvas. The first two broke and the third was as you described. Now i got my fourth and it's exactly the same again...

Actually only the first case didn't exhibit this, the other three all did/do.

Sucks. Just got my second one via warranty. They are great with that but the plastic shell is too damn weak. Bought a toblino 2 and its awesome. Nothing is perfect but its on sale on amazon and awesome

Did some research prior to getting my iPad and decided to buy the Canvas despite the issues raised here, fingers crossed I don't run across those probs!

My requirements for a case were (a) something with stable reading & viewing angles on tables, in bed & in my lap (for the train), (b) something that would give a lot of protection and (c) something that looked good & was colourful. All the reviews I've seen for the Canvas seemed to fit those criteria and so I placed an order last Saturday. Really impressed that I got my hands on it yesterday (Thursday) & would have had it on Wednesday had I been home when Fedex arrived.

Basically this case is fabulous. Really well designed to leave almost no parts of the iPad exposed when in my handbag. Love that the whole back is covered by the shell even when angled for viewing. The "official" viewing angles are all stable and I've found an unofficial typing angle which is rock steady (and flatter than it appears in this photo). Past cases I had for iPad 1 were terrible in this regard despite good reviews so it was quite a relief.

It is on the heavier & thicker side (one of the few negatives) but at the extra padding gives good protection. The catch is a bit tricky as well but it sounds like it should loosen – and I'm glad it's actually got a catch rather than magnets.

After a day's use I'd give it 5/5, I'm really impressed. Hope I continue to feel this way about it!

If the catch stays a bit sticky, do what I did and soften it up with a hair dryer, bend it out a little bit, close the case, and push the catch back into position. That will make it just right. I used a butter knife when I pushed it back into position, to make sure that it was even, and you'd never be able to tell I did anything to it! ;)

Thanks for the hint! How long have you had yours for and are you still happy with it? I didnt expect to be this impressed by a case!

I bought mine when they first came out, in mid May, I think. I actually have two, as the catch was a problem with the first. I got ahold of Switcheasy, and they sent another out right away, without asking for the first back. I imagine the shipping back is probably more than it's worth to them. I haven't had any issues, other than the tight clasp, which I fixed in about 5 minutes, based on a tip from another person; I think maybe here.

I have the tan color, and those were initially on back-order, so I bought an iFrogz Summit, figuring that I would keep one or the other. The Summit was nice, but didn't have all the viewing angles this one has, so I sold it on CL.

Is anyone using this case with a 3G model? Do you have to take the iPad out of the case to get to the microsim slot? Assuming so, how difficult is it?

Best typing angle!

Ok so I have been on this thread a few times finding great viewing/typing angles and I found a new one that so far is my favorite, great for typing as it is very stable and the angle is a bit steeper than the others found in this thread.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I didnt want to start a new thread about it.

It looks like this is the case to get, but does the hard back shell that you clip the iPad into scratch the iPad at all?

Also is there a way you can stand it like a photo viewer, small enough for say a mantelpiece?

Thanks

It doesn't scratch the iPad.

About the mantel. If you can lay your iPad down flat on your mantel with room to spare then yes this case will allow you to do that. If not, I wouldn't suggest it.

The polycarb back doesn't scratch the back, at least it hasn't on mine. I suppose it might if there was any dirt or grit around but any clip on back would be the same. If you stand it up then the footprint is going to be the same as the dimensions of the iPad itself, ie about 9" x 7", so if your mantleshelf is 7" wide or more you'll be ok. Obviously that is in landscape mode as that's how it works.
Had mine for a few days now (30 UKP from Play.com), and the latch is still a bit tight, but other than that it's good.

Thanks, this is good info.

The kind of position that I mean is for example at http://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/smart-cover/ - where it says FaceTime and video stand, so nothing us coming out from the bottom towards you but it still stands up nice.

I have had the canvas since it came out. Protect wise its very good. My problem is when I want to use it in Portrait. I find it very awkward and annoying to hold when i am trying to read in portrait. I wish it was easier to take out of the case. I might have to get a new case as I am reading more on it.

I had considered the Switcheasy Canvas but I also like using the iPad in portrait too. I eventually went with the Joy Factory's Folio360 case. It rotates, but the mechanism that turns can't be seen like the other popular case that does. In the case, holding the iPad like a book is comfortable. You can also easily take the case off but leave the shell on and a smart cover will fit. I'd definitely recommend it. There's a nice thread here in the forum with lots of pictures.

It only comes in black tho.

I'm going to contact SwitchEasy again, as my Canvas has started to bubble in a few spots. I don't expect any issues, they were easy to work with the first time, when I had a tight clasp. I really do like the product.

I bought it for myself. I like it but the sleep/wake are not working for me and it is quite heavy. Nevertheless it is a good protection for my iPad.

My iPhone is black color and I would like to buy a white color case . Black suits white best. Any way, it looks nice. Glad for your sharing~~
