I had been on the fence for a while about whether I should keep the Sport or upgrade to the stainless steel. Also, I'm a male, but the 42mm looked too large on my wrist. I upgraded to the 38 mm Milanese this morning and couldn't be happier with my decision. The watch is better proportioned for me and I like the look and feel of the stainless steel much better.

I figure I chip in as well. Ordered a SG BSB, for what I wanted it was not the watch for me. It felt like a toy to me. I needed that extra weight. So I ended up exchanging it for a SS BSB. Couldnt be happier, however my wallet is not.

Well my 14 days is up and after wearing both the Space Grey and the SS for a couple of days at a time each, I've finally decided to keep the SG Sport and return the SS. There's no doubt the SS is nice watch - premium in several ways - but for me I prefer the more casual look/feel of the SGS and feel more comfortable wearing the SGS, so for me the extra £180 is not worth it, but for others it absolutely would be.

The extra weight of the SS was noticeable when running/exercising, which meant it had a tendency to slip down my wrist more than the SS, the sapphire screen is not easy to read in daylight and I miss lots more taptic notifications on the SS than I do with the Sport. And despite the SS being more robust its looks so precious I was more conscious of not knocking it as I would probably cry if I did! Also, I think the current rumours of version 2 of the watch also reminded me that this is a generation one model and I'm happier spending less now and maybe upgrading next time round.

That's my two'pennth - everyone is different, the SS is definitely a beautiful device so whichever you choose, just enjoy!

My wife's got a 38mm SS while I have the 42 SG. I occasionally put them on side by side as I keep pondering getting a 42mm SS myself. Somehow the SG looks more manly and nicer on my wrist while the SS looks... well, more effeminate.

Does any of you men feel that way?

Since your wife is wearing the SS you probably associate it with looking more effeminate
My girlfriend has small wrists and both models look masculine on her !

I felt the same way.

I think the reason might be the following.
Traditionally, mechanical watches were designed with a specific gender in mind.
Apple watch deviates from this tradition and in doing so, has created a design that works for both genders.
As such, some of the models (38mm SS and rose gold in particular) ended up looking a bit more biased in favor of the fairer sex.

I went the opposite way on this one. I had the SS version and I dumped it for a SG version because I just couldn't justify the extra $$$ for something that was the exact same thing internally. I'm very happy with my decision and my 42mm SG looks great.

I have a 38 mm stainless steel watch and I don't think it looks overly masculine or feminine on me. Most of the Apple Watches have a relatively gender neutral look to them IMHO. I'm secure enough of a person that I couldn't care less if a person thinks my watch looks too effeminate on me, which by the way lends itself to misogynistic thinking anyway.
