I'm just sitting here thinking whenever my sis or someone is steaming a video on their phone or a buddy wants to hook up to my wifi I won't have to stress about it while I'm playing a game or something XD. no more lag

Not quite, it's still all going through the same pipe.

If you just your your current ISPs modem/router combo you will see definite improvement.

Now I'm more confused.

Even with two WiFi networks, you're still getting internet from a single cable hookup. So anyone doing anything will still have an impact, regardless of what network you use. It'll just be a little less than normal.

My internet was fast as **** with the xfinity modem/router I have. nothing ever lagged but now with the asus speeds were waaaaaay faster! So I may just put everything on there and call it a day. I just learned about this band splitting thing lol

Finally got my tracking number for my 64GB SG Plus today (ordered in store first day using JUMP). They did hit the 9/22-9/30 window after all! I was convinced it was going to be a 9/30 delivery, given the way things have been going.

I'm in that group. Still no movement whatsoever for me :[

So, if 10 devices are using wifi at the same time it will be slower than one.

Now I'm more confused.

You will see improvements in speed and reliability, especially on devices that connect via the 5GHz 802.11ac network, this is a top of the line router after all.

But, the 2 "seperate" networks are still sharing the same bandwidth provided by your ISP.

That's what I wanna know if I have 10 devices on one wifi! But I have 5 on 2.4ghz and 5 on the 5ghz will things be faster or will it be the same as having everything just mushed up together and each device chooses the band that best suits it?

But what if my ps4 connects to the 5ghz band and someone gets on another device on the same band won't it make it lag?

No lag :) Both wifi spectrums are still using the same internet connection.

If people are reporting increased speeds by switching to this router it's because they were either receiving interference before, or their old router was just bad. The theoretical maximums of the wireless AC (and even N) are usually much faster than the internet most people pay for.

That's what I thought actually that each device chooses the band that's better for it. Had training with apple once when I worked in sales at a department store and that's how I remember them explaining how their time capsule router worked.

So I ordered the plus 64gb silver on 9/20. Yes very late in this race. Was ordered through the phone. Did digital signature. Order starts with 213xxxxxx. Received a text: Free T-Mobile Msg: Thanks for your order #213xxxxxx . Please note you will receive another message when your device is shipped. And then another one: Free T-Mobile Msg: Thanks for your device upgrade! Find more details on your device at my.T-Mobile.com. If order not authorized, call 611 from a T-Mobile phone. Checked online on MyTmobile and says order pending. Then went to back ordered. Still shows back ordered as of now. I did a source check and it showed estimate ship date of 9/26. Recently checked RoboLady she says order is being processed. And also checked UPS and there isn't any tracking at all. Checked by reference and also have UPS my choice. So hopefully from what I'm reading about shipments is true. Hope I get it tomorrow but I won't get my hopes up until I actually have it in my hands

How do you do this source check? I need a step-by-step.

So if streaming on my TV was limited by my current router, the cellspot will allow it to stream faster. But if it was limited by something else, like my cable speed, it will stay the same. ?

Right, regardless of whether it's on 5ghz or 2.4ghz. You'd only separate out the two spectrums if you'd want granular control over which devices you put on which but most people don't need that level of control in their home.

This exactly! QFT!

An an unrelated note... STILL NO CHARGE AND NO PHONE. *SAD TROMBONE*

But say I were to put a TV, 4 computers, 2 Wiis, printer, 4 iPads, 3 iPhones all on both networks so they have the capability to be on either network. Wouldn't that be slower than dedicating each to separate networks? How would I know that each device is actually connecting to the faster network?
