So I was finally able to talk to an executive after emailing John Legere. They basically said the same stuff I was expecting in that there was not enough supply to meet the orders and they apologized for sending out the text/email saying I would get the phone day one and that they would ship it as soon as it arrives.
What I wasn't expecting however is that contrary to what I had thought, apparently my order did not go through as a Jump! preorder even though that's how I ordered it online but instead it went as a normal preorder. This was apparently the reason that my order was not prioritized and there was nothing they could do to change that. So basically I am in the same situation that I have been in since Friday. No tracking, no credit card charge, and it still says backordered on my account. She did say that the up to 6 weeks is a worse case scenario and they do not expect it to take nearly that long for me to get the phone.
I guess the good thing is that they are removing my next months phone bill and they gave me the rhapsody music unchained service for free (neither of which I asked for)
BTW I ordered the 64gig SG 6+ on Sat morning with (apparently) no jump
