I think they were so unprepared. In January when I switched to tmobile, everytime I called they were so nice and seemed like they really wanted to help me and for this launch its like I've been back at Verizon. Transition period maybe? Regardless, there must be a way to get their attention about this. It's just not right that someone who ordered on opening weekend doesn't have a phone nor an imminent reliable ship date.
I don't think you can fault the carriers on this. They got whatever Apple sent them, and demand was through the roof. Even anticipating a record weekend, the estimates were still way low. 4 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours, 10 million over the first weekend?? NOBODY anticipated THAT kind of demand, not even Apple.
The carrier reps are not answering everyone's questions because they are inundated with requests for information, and often the reps just don't have the answers. They don't have access to the inventory system, nor do they have the ability to influence it. Folks are screaming for information that the cs reps just don't have.
