still waiting for T-Mobile 64GB iPhone 5S

I placed an order around 7:00AM on September 20 from Apple.com. Order status still shows available to ship: October. Losing patience to wait.:mad::mad:

Hi I placed my order for T-Mobile 64GB Gold iPhone 5S around 7:00AM EST on September 20. My order still shows it is available to ship in October. I called Apple and I was told there is no information available when the phone will be shipped.

I read the threads from this forum and I know T-Mobile iPhone 5S is probably unlocked. When I call and ask Apple, I was told T-Mobile iPhone is only for T-Mobile.

From my work, I have Canadian Rogers Wireless account and I have to make sure Rogers SIM also work in T-Mobile Phone.

Just in case my T-Mobile iPhone 5S from Apple Online does not work, I placed another order this time for the same 64GB Gold iPhone 5S Unlocked from Apple Canada. Canadian price after tax is $1038, which is much higher than the US T-Mobile full price.

If T-Mobile iPhone 5S from Apple Online works, I am going to cancel my Canadian order.

Anyone who received T-Mobile iPhone 5S from Apple Online this week, could you please let me know if your T-Mobile iPhone 5S from Apple iPhone is unlocked?

I am going to take my chance and if T-Mobile iPhone 5S is locked, I will return the phone for full-refund and wait few more months for my Canadian unlocked iPhone 5S to arrive.

I purchased an unlocked T-Mobile 5S and plugged my ATT SIM in with no problems. I plan on using it in Dubai in a few weeks. I've used an old unlocked iPhone 4 on the DU network in the past so I don't anticipate any issues with the 5S.

I ordered 64GB T-Mobile Gold iPhone 5s early morning on September 20. Is there anyone who ordered the phone on September 20 and received any e-mails from Apple that order is shipped?

I am tired of waiting. Thinking about switching to Android so many times. But I know I am addicted to Apple ecosystem.

Not the same, but I ordered a 64gb gold 5s directly from tmo in the afternoon on 9/20 and received it on 9/30. Still waiting for notice about the second 16gb gold 5s I ordered.

When you put a tmobile sim in an Verizon iPhone 5s/5c does '4g' in the top left mean 4g lte or just tmobiles 4g network? Thanks

64GB T-Mobile iPhone 5S

Just want to find out whether anyone who ordered T-Mobile Gold 64GB iPhone 5S from apple.com received your phone.

I ordered mine around 7:00AM EST on September 20. But my order still shows available to deliver: October.

Apple might limit the supply on purpose. If supply is limited, it is scarce. The value people place on it increases. What do you think?

Anyone who received your T-Mobile 64GB Gold iPhone 5S from Apple online, please let me know.

Same date and time. Still says "Processing"..I don't think Apple intentionally limits the supply. They don't care how high the prices of the 5S are sky-rocketing right now. What they care about is their own store price. As long as they can sell, they're good.

Then again..it sucks our 5S T-Mo contract free from Apple still isn't moving.

Why insist on T-Mobile version??

Any Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile iPhone bought device-only from an Apple retail store is unlocked. It's been that way at least since the iPhone 4S.

If this is the case, why do some people insist on trying to get the T-Mobile version? I understand from the below link, all 3 carriers come with Model A1533 for iPhone 5s where the AT&T and T-Mobile phones are GSM variants and the Verizon is the CDMA variant.

1) Considering the AT&T and T-mobile GSM variants are exactly the same GSM phones, would it logical to buy whichever you find?

2) Considering the Verizon variant carrys not only the exactly the same specs as the GSM variant of AT&T and T-Mobile, but also the CDMA bands, would it even more logical to buy the Verizon variant?

Yes, in theory there is no reason to insist on the "T-Mobile" version. The Verizon or full-price AT&T phones will also work with T-Mobile. Plus, there are no 2 year contracts with T-Mobile and so Apple Stores sell them all at full price, anyway. However, those looking to buy on contract with AT&T or Verizon are limited to the models that are "assigned" to those carriers.

As to why people insist on the T-Mobile version, it's probably because that's the only version that Apple officially sells as "unlocked" and a lot of Apple associates either don't know or have been told to say all the phones are locked. Technically today Apple will even say that the full-price T-Mobile phone is locked (and it is if you buy it from T-Mobile directly). Eventually Apple Stores will get some phones that don't come with any SIM cards. Those will be marketed as "unlocked."

However, those of us in the know who are looking for "unlocked" phones just go in and ask to buy "device only" AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile phones. Theoretically the Verizon version might have slightly better resale value next year since you can sell it to subscribers of Verizon as well as GSM carriers, but in practice I'm guessing it will be very minimal as only those subscribers with grandfathered unlimited plans have a real incentive to buy unsubsidized devices (all Verizon LTE phones are unlocked - even the contract phones).

Then again..it sucks our 5S T-Mo contract free from Apple still isn't moving.

Did you get an "October" or "7-10 business day" shipping estimate when you ordered?

I think it may have something to do with T-Mobile's deal with Apple. For those actually looking for a T-Mobile phone to use with T-Mobile (and not just to get an unlocked version) by far the quickest way is to order through T-mobile.com or try a store. They have plenty in silver and space gray. You can log on today and with expedited delivery have it on Tuesday. The downside is that it is locked to T-Mobile and can be unlocked only if you have service with them for 40 days.

My guess is that T-Mobile was concerned that a lot of "T-Mobile" iPhone 5s orders from Apple were going to people intending to use it on AT&T. Therefore, they bought up a lot of inventory and so new production is going to them directly rather than to Apple stores or the Apple online site.

That said, since the Verizon version supports the AT&T and T-Mobile LTE bands this year, I think that perhaps the device-only Verizon version will become the unlocked iPhone of choice even after the "official" unlocked versions go on sale. With last year's iPhone 5, the T-Mobile version was the most flexible since it worked on AT&T's LTE frequencies but AT&T's version didn't work on T-Mobile's LTE band.

Hi everyone!
I understand any T-Mobile iPhone bought from the Apple Store in unlocked.
But what about ones bought from T-Mobile Store? As far as I understood, they locked in US, but what about international?
Did anyone try to use iPhone 5s, bought from a T-Mobile Store, internationally?

iPhones purchased at T-Mobile stores are locked to T-Mobile. You can request an unlock from them but you have to meet several requirements and have an active account for at least 40 days.

It will be unlocked to use with T-mobile sim only and locked to all other networks.. Don't buy iPhone from t-mobile because you can only use with t-mobile network and you may not be able to unlock it.

I am VERY curious too bc I have AT&T and I want to buy the 5S unlocked, insert my AT&T sim card and have it working.

No worries... I got 3 phones, all "T-Mo Unlocked" on release day. They arrived around the 26th. I pulled all three SIMs, slapped in my own (after cutting the micro one), and all three booted with 100% att functionality.

I have no idea what people are talking about here...

still waiting for T-Mobile 64GB Gold iPhone 5S

I ordered my T-Mobile 64GB Gold iPhone 5S around 7:00AM on September 20, 2013 from Apple.com.

My order status still shows - Processing Items. Available to ship: October.

I got my wife new Galaxy Note 3 White. I played with her phone for a couple of hours. As a previous user of Galaxy S3 and original Galaxy Note, it surely tempted me to switch. Screen is big and so gorgeous. Every hardware specs exceeded my expectation.

Unfortunately I have purchased many IOS apps I still love to use over the years. This makes impossible for me to completely exit from Apple ecosystem.

If Apple fails to deliver by next weekend, I might purchase galaxy note 3 for my next phone and wait for new iPad 5 to come out.

Anyone who can argue iPhone 5S is far better than Galaxy Note 3, please let me know.

I also would like to know if anyone who ordered T-Mobile 64GB Gold iPhone 5S early morning at 7:00AM or later on September 20 from Apple Online received your order.

Hi guys,

It's my first post here .. And I want to show you the changes apple made recently in there online store regarding iPhone 5s T-Mobile.

They don't say unlocked any more. Only free contract. Even if you add it to the shopping cart. Like the pic attached.

And I'm looking to buy it online and ship it to my country UAE. My question is " If I buy it from the US online store. Do I'll be able to use it on my local GSM carrier ?

Thanks in advance

I am not sure how you will be able to get it ship to your country, because apple.com will only ship in the US!

Don't worry about that I'll ship it to an account in NY and after that anthor shipment to UAE. We do it all the time. But I'm afraid that I have to activate it in US before using it at UAE.

Yes, the T-Mobile iPhone 5s purchased directly from Apple is unlocked, despite the changes on the website. All you need to do is insert a working SIM from any carrier and you should be able to use it. That said, it is taking a long time to ship online orders of the T-Mobile version from Apple because T-Mobile bought a large allocation of phones for itself and have locked those phones for sale in their own carrier stores.

As long as you can get to the UAE it is unlocked. Nothing to worry about. Put in your foreign SIM and it will activate.
