How do we check if the package requires signature?
Here is what the help section says about mobile iPhones
Your package does not require a signature, however the decision on whether or not to release a shipment is ultimately up to the driver's discretion. The goal is to deliver shipments in a safe area, out of public view, and protected from the weather. If your driver decides the package cannot be left, he or she will leave an InfoNotice. With the InfoNotice you may be able to hold your package at the UPS Customer Center for pickup or send your package to a UPS Access Point for pickup.
Per UPS below.

I work during the day. How do I authorize packages to be left at my address?
You can sign up for UPS My Choice®, which lets you authorize UPS to leave your packages at your home, even when you're not there to sign. Please note that after you sign up, your eligible notification preferences will only apply to future shipments. It may take up to five minutes before you can start using UPS My Choice features.
Sign up for UPS My Choice
After you are signed up for UPS My Choice, follow these steps:
Select Tracking, then select Access UPS My Choice.
Select My Settings in the upper left hand corner.
Go to the Delivery Instructions section, then select Edit. If you don't see Delivery Instructions, you live in an area that is already approved to release your non-signature required packages.
Read the terms and check the box that says "I authorize shipment release." (You may be asked to verify your membership information when using this option for the first time. You will not need to verify again unless your address information changes.)
Select Save Changes, on the right.
The Delivery Instructions section will now indicate "Shipment Release Authorized."
If your packages require a signature, you must authorize each package individually by tracking it and selecting Provide Delivery Instructions.
Note: Certain delivery change options may not be available due to the nature of the package and at the request of the shipper.
