I have an EIP plan with T-Mobile, what are my options for preordering? Will I be able to do so at 3AM EST?
You'll be able to, but it sounds like anyone with Jump and Jump on Demand that preorders within the first 48 hours moves to the front of the line over those that don't have one of those plans.

The deductible for AppleCare+ is $99 on the new phones. So that makes $175 versus $99.

And while the fee is higher than AppleCare+ and the deductible you are also paying less for the phones which offsets it. It's basically a wash price-wise (small difference in either direction) but with the added benefit of lost/stolen protection and being front of the line for device upgrades (though it remains to be seen how fast one can get the units regardless of being at the front).

Yes, you probably won't get one on the 25th. You might be able to switch to JOD today or tomorrow with an iPhone 6 and then immediately upgrade it when preorders go live to get the priority placement.

I am curious about this as well. I read the OP to indicate even if i am NOT a current TMO customer, I could call in to pre-order under JOD. Is this not the case, can only EXISTING JOD customers pre-order via phone?

You might want to call and ask. I was under the impression you had to actually go to a store to initially setup a JOD account. I read the FAQ the opposite way you did, but it's not completely clear.

Do you guys think it will be hard to find one in a Tmobile store the day of? Sounds like ordering one you might not get it launch day. I would rather just walk in and get one. But this is my first time to try and buy a iPhone from them on day one. So they might not get many I don't know. I have bought them before with ATT same day and had not issues.

I'd MUCH rather walk in and get one but in store is a bit of a tossup because they usually don't carry every size/color/space combination. So if you go in, they don't have the one you want even if they aren't sold out, then you've missed the preorder window for online and you'll have to wait until pre-orders have shipped.

I'm headed to a T-Mobile store to find out, and hopefully sign up on JOD as a new customer. I'm with AT&T now, and my plan is to get on JOD, pre-order tonight, and then switch everything over once my new iPhone arrives. I'll report back to everyone on how it goes and any road-blocks or show-stoppers I run into.

Thanks! Will look for you update, to see if i need to make a list minute dash to a TMO store today.

Sorry, I haven't read through the whole thread. I want to get my phone through Apple with their payment plan and not T-mobiles' JUMP. Can we do that as T-mobile customers? If so, how?

My family is also on JUMP. They will be upgrading but they have to turn their phones in and we bought Applecare on them. Can Applecare be transferred to the new iPhones? Thanks again.

I just want a 6s that isn't 16gig. So maybe not caring what color and being flexible on size might help me a little. I also live near a lot of tmoibles. So maybe that will help me a hair. I really wish there was away to know the inventory online. But since I am a stay at home mom normally with nothing to do I guess I can made day out of it if I need to.

I just talked to the T-Mo store over the phone and it sounds like I can sign up as a new customer today on JOD and they can issue me a temporary SIM as a holdover. Then I pre-order tonight and make everything active when the new iPhone eventually arrives, and poor my AT&T number over at that time.

Caution though: it sounds like it will work just fine, but I'm still headed up there in a bit to talk to them in-person and ask a lot more in-depth questions. For example, will I have to pay for the temporary SIM while I wait for the new iPhone? Who knows if the new iPhone will arrive on Sept 25th or the end of Oct (as an example). I certainly don't want to be paying for service on both AT&T and T-Mobile at the same time. At any rate, I'm going to thoroughly cover all the bases with them and will report back once I get back home. It will be an hour before i arrive there and have a couple of errands to run afterwards, so it could be up to 3 hours or so before I get back and report what I find. I'll try to post as quickly as I can.

That was the case for me last year.. What happened was, the plan is not activated until you start using the sim card.. So make sure you don't put your sim card in another phone to try it out and wait until they deliver your iPhone..

I'm definitely interested in hearing what they tell you.

Ok gang, I just got back for the T-Mobile store. I would have typed this up in the parking lot, but I was logged out of MacRumors on my iPhone and couldn't remember my password. :)

Background: I'm a longtime AT&T customer with a grandfathered UDP. I have two 5s(s) that are on a 2-yr contract with AT&T until mid-December. I wanted to sign-up with T-Mobile today so I could pre-order a 6s and a 6s Plus tonight as a Jump On Demand customer with T-Mobile.

Here's the scoop:

At the T-Mobile Store, they gave me two temporary SIM cards with T-Mobile phone numbers so I could call in and pre-order tonight. I picked my plan, in this case the two lines with 10GB of LTE for $100 and that was all I had to do. I walked out with two Sim cards/phone numbers and I can now call in tonight. When I call in tonight, all I have to do is pre-order my phones and say that I want to be on the Jump On Demand program. I also have to let them know which phone I'm trading in if I want T-Mobile to later reimburse me for my ETFs with AT&T. You can trade-in any working phone that doesn't have a cracked screen and in my case, I'm going to trade in an old iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4s. That will satisfy the trade-in requirement and then I will sell both of my iPhone 5s(s) on the side. However, if you do want to trade-in your existing phone with T-Mobile, they are giving the best trade-in value available and will lock in that price with you tonight when you call. If you can find another buying service in the next 7 days that will offer you more, T-Mobile will give you the difference plus an additional $50.

While I'm waiting on my new iPhones to arrive, I can still continue to use my existing iPhone 5s(s) with AT&T. When my new iPhones arrive (whether it's on Sept 25th or 6 weeks later, all I have to do is drop the SIMs that I was issued tonight into the new phones and port my AT&T phone numbers over at that time. Also, when I receive my new iPhones, I will also receive a white plastic bag to ship my trade-ins back to T-Mobile. So, if you go this route, you will not be without a phone during this entire process.

The only possible hiccup could be when they start the bill for my service with T-Mobile. They shouldn't start it until I insert the SIMs into a phone, but if for some reason they do, then I'll have to give a call to the T-Mobile manager at the store and have him put in a request to credit my account. So, if they start charging me now, it doesn't really matter and I'll be covered...it will just take a phone request on my part to get things cleared up.

So there you have it. This process will work and for those of you that still have the time to get to a T-Mobile store tonight, you can do this too. If you can't get to a store or of they are already closed, have no fear. You can call T-Mobile tonight and do the same process over the phone. However, it would be in your best interest to do that in advance of the pre-orders starting and then call back to actually order the phones when 12:01 am PDT hits so you can complete the process sooner and secure your place in line.

I hope this helps -- good luck to those pre-ordering tonight!

Tmobile starts billing from the get go. If your lines are active now, you are being billed.

Thank you for the clarification. Luckily, it will be easy to get reversed/reimbursed.

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy things were in the T-Mobile store. After years of frustration with trying to figure out the true costs of other carriers, etc, this was a very straight-forward and easy process. I'm digging T-Mobile's approach.

Give it some time, bro. Eventually they'll do something to piss you off lol.

I agree though--in general, TMO seems to be less frustrating. I will say though that I personally have had more complaints over the past couple of years compared to previous years. But when you look at the alternatives, you realize it isn't THAT bad.

Welcome to T-Mobile though!

Btw, who is gonna start up the official TMO Pre-order thread? Every other carrier seems to have one so why don't we?

I'd volunteer, but I'm off to work in a few minutes.

Thanks for that!

So for my iPhone 6 Plus that I own in full, t-mobile will buy it for $50 more than any other service (for example gazelle)?
