While this is a fantastic deal, as an Ipad 4 owner, I am still not sold on even this justifying me upgrading. My Ipad 4 suits me just fine, though the lighter weight would be awesome....

And now you can have free 200MB/month Cellular data from t-mobile on your iPad 4 as well. This is exactly what I did with my iPad 3.
What is not to like about this deal?
After the 200mb your data speeds are severely slowed. If you want extra data you are going to have to create an account.
So I'm confused now. I'm not a T-Mobile customer, from the CEO's tweet it sounds like all I get is only one month of free 200MB data, and after that first month it will go back to normal prices? Is that correct?
I hate to say it but I smell a lawsuit considering apple's website clearly says 200mb/month free.

The free 200Mb a month is free for life. I do not understand how some of you find this so confusing.
me too hahaha
A few people are upset because they want to finance a $629 device with no interest for 2 years and also get the free 200mb. In order to finance the device T-Mobile is requiring they sign up for a $10 plan.
If you buy it outright from Apple or T-Mobile or already have an iPad the data is 100% free.
I got it on my iPad Air no problems, it did not even require credit card info.
I bought a verizon ipad air, stuffed a T-Mobile SIM in it, disabled wifi and set up a free plan. Didn't require a credit card, but I did have to provide name, address, birth date and email.
Hotspot took about 5 minutes to show up under cellular, but I'm allowed to set up via wifi, USB, and bluetoof.
Just adding a data point here from my experience today. I picked up a 32GB iPad Air (Verizon Model) from the Apple Store, and promptly walked across the mall to the T-Mobile store. The reason I didn't just buy a T-Mobile iPad Air, is I wanted 100% certainty that I could also use the iPad on Verizon later on down the road.
........
I'm happy.![]()
And if you remove the sim, and go back to the cellular settings, you can then sign up for verizon service?
Is there a reason why people are buying "Verizon", " AT&T" model iPad vs "T-Mobile" one? All iPads are unlocked so it doesn't matter which version it is. They all have The same radios to access LTE, 4G, 3G, 2G or whatever might be around. Just wanted to know if I'm missing anything.

Some carriers (Verizon) make prepaid activation on a non-recognized device more difficult than others so for me, it's better to get Verizon and just swap the SIM for AT&T or T-Mobile since the latter two don't make you jump through hoops to activate. Is there a reason why people are buying "Verizon", " AT&T" model iPad vs "T-Mobile" one? I wonder if it is possible to activate multiple sim cards into one iPad and just swap them out once the 200 MB is up for the month.
