And yet, when it comes down to it, AT&T has the iPhone and T-Mobile does not, so everyone will choose AT&T anyway.

T-Mobile will get this soon, they already signed the contract, I just wish they were more descriptive of when we will see the iPhones, but like any Apple product, we will find out the week before it happens.

I love t mobile. Hope to be back with them soon

I switched from Verizon to AT&T bc of crappy customer support, but they both have the best networks in the USA, Sprint is Meh at best, and what good does unlimited data do if your service is sub-par. I would have gone with T-Mobile but I can not get service pretty much most of the area, and there speeds are way slower then AT&T's in fact I get faster speeds with AT&T then my friends do with the IP5 on VZ in my area.

I just do not know how T-Mobile can survive since they do not have true LTE, in fact Sprint is just building their network. In the USA it will be AT&T and VZ in a distant 3rd will be Sprint and somewhere in 4th is T-Mobile. All the other little providers do not even have the customer base that T-Mobile has so not even worth mentioning.

I am sure over time Sprint and T-Mobile will get better, but with the AT&T and VZ so far ahead they would have to offer a much lower price and decent speeds to gain any customers.

I know many people who went with Sprint just for unlimited data and IP5, but once they go there, needless to say they left or are waiting to leave as soon as they can.

One other reason I like AT&T is the ability to use Data/Voice at the same time, it is a huge feature for me, others may not benefit from it, however I use it daily.

Couldn't agree anymore. The service you use doesn't determine what class you're in as the OP said. Some people spend their money wisely and wish to use the extra money they would've normally spend on the more expensive carrier on everyday things. And that's being wise with your money. Which is another reason why i would NEVER go on a 2 year contract just to get the newest iPhone meanwhile getting these $80+ bills at the end of the month.

You're correct and I'm glad you saw my original post, even though it was more of a rant, haha. It's us average, everyday people that work hard and want to enjoy the fruits of our labor and at the end of the day, still have some fruit. I have been on ATT, then went to Tmobile (because of cost for my family), then switched to Sprint (again because it made more sense at the time and again because they promised they were expanding their 4g network at the time, but we still don't have LTE and they never made it this far with WiMax). All the while, savings for my family was the determining factor. And, once again, I'm going to evaluate my options at the end of my contract and go with the best selection available at the moment. I'm the same way with cars, televisions, computers (we are a Mac family, and have 2 iPads), and even cable TV. We live very well, and at the end of the day contribute a healthy amount to such things surrounding our future such as our 401k and retirement funds. I didn't have these things as a child but I am proud to have worked my way to a point in life where I can have the option to not go without or whatever's cheaper. What fits our needs always comes first in our family decisions. Sounds like you are the same way and I applaud you sir!

Magenta Strikes Back...

I'm very happy to see T-Mobile USA finally getting their act together to start offering Apple mobile products very soon, and the monthly price plans look compelling to make a switch back to them.

ROCK ON T-Mobile!!!!! In my opinion, these are the only two carriers that matter. Why is that? Because they both use GSM technology. AT&T has had the privilege of offering HSPA+ with LTE now for quite some time. T-Mobile will be the only other national carrier that will offer both "4G" technologies.

What's funny here is, that AT&T is threatened by the Nation's 4th largest carrier. In the past its always been AT&T v Verizon or vice versa. It's nice to see T-Mobile in the spotlight for once.

I think T-Mobile is by far, the better company. They seem to get what people want. Coverage permitting, their network is also way better than AT&T's. I have never dropped a call on T-Mobile, but many on AT&T, even in good coverage areas.

Keep at it T-Mobile!!!

Getting feisty, I see. This will be interesting.
I don't really care who wins, but T-Mobile is last choice for me. Bad service and no iPhone.

LTE as far as I am concerned is 4G. hspda+ is not. Even the ieee consider lte 4g. People need to stop saying lte isn't. Find me a wireless network anywhere in the world thats widely spread thats faster.

True. However, in T-Mobile's defense in areas where they actually do have coverage, their HSPA+42 network is actually on par with what many are getting with LTE. Not many phones supported HSPA+42 until recently however.

I don't care if T-Mobile's network is subpar; AT&T just got schooled.

If they cared about people want, they would have had the iPhone years ago, or even had 3G up and running in all areas years ago. Their excuse was that they were only able to buy AWS spectrum, but that is complete BS because they were too cheap to bid against AT&T.

TMobile is a value carrier, that's it. They don't deserve to be in the same sentence as AT&T, VZW, or even Sprint. Any network that "cares about their people" would have realized that having EDGE as your primary data technology is woeful and pathetic.

And let's not forget AT&T couldn't care less about T-Mobile's network. They wanted TMo's spectrum. They would have dismantled AWS HSPA+ and lit up LTE on AWS, if they bought TMo.

What proof do you have that EDGE will be phased out? They have not gone on record anywhere saying that they will get rid of their EDGE/GPRS areas, and there's a **** ton of them. They have only talked about LTE and that's only in top 25 metro markets. For comparison, AT&T is almost done with top 100 markets and has been branching out to others and VZW has been done with them for a while now. AT&T has more LTE than TMobile has 3G. Pathetic.

And again, they only have enough spectrum in most major cities, that's it.

If their LTE rollout is anything like their 3G rollout, it will late as usia with mediocre coverage, but with decent speeds in areas where you can access it.

----------

Why not? VZW had a 1 year head start on LTE and they needed it quicker because their EVDO was being outclassed by everyone. AT&T is right behind them in LTE deployment (should be done by next year versus end of 2013 for VZW). AT&T HSPA is fast in the areas without LTE and provides a better experience than VZW EVDO.

Of course, I'll give VZW this, their LTE deployment speed has been ridiculous.

I have both VZW and AT&T devices. I get signal everywhere with both, except in rural areas, I'm stuck with slow EVDO or EDGE on AT&T. Pretty ****** both ways.

Well it's kind of obvious since we are moving to the LTE-era. :p

Find me an area where TMo hits 50+ mbps speeds over their "amazing" HSPA+ constantly.

TMo 42HSPA isn't even close to a well-deployed LTE network.

GSM technology means that they matter? what sort of crap is this?

VZW is partly owned by Vodafone. They "matter" significantly more than TMobile because VZW has more LTE than TMo has 3G and that's within the last 2 years of LTE deployment. TMo has been deployed 3G since 2008 and still isn't even remotely done.

i'm on a t mobile iphone.

No, you're not. Did you purchase it from T-Mobile directly in the US? Buying an unlocked VZW or ATT model doesn't count.

If TMo can deliver cheaper rates with decent speed (LTE or not) I would definitely have a look. The prices from AT&T and Verizon are ridiculous - I'm not paying over $100 a month for service. AT&T speeds have sucked since I signed with them in 2009. I'd rather pay more for the phone upfront and lower monthly rates for good service.

But they started it!!!!!!

Apparently the 'T' in T-Mobile stands for teenager...

So what can you do with 50+ Mbps down on a phone that cannot be done with 20mbps down on Tmobile Hspa+42? Web pages load at pretty much the same speed once you get above 10mbps down.

Also I would choose unlimited Hspa+ where I get consistent 15 down over capped data at 50 down or 5GB throttled for the "unlimited" grandfathered users on AT&T. Unless you're downloading torrents or something I don't see the big deal about those speeds in real world situations. It looks nice on speed tests though I will admit.

Also I have Verizon and have never seen LTE download speeds above 25mbps on my iPhone 5. LTE or not, if Tmobile can deliver similar speeds with hspa+ then That's good enough for many. Plus the monthly rates are much lower.

Though I have never been to Boston with my Tmobile device so I cannot speak on how good or bad they are in your market but with all cell carriers YMMV. You can't blanket statement an entire carrier based on how it performs in your particular area. Otherwise I would claim Verizon sucks.

The main problems with their network in my opinion was the lack of the iPhone and hspa in rural areas. I live in a city though so the lack if the iPhone is the only reason I took my main line to another carrier.

I like t mobile and if I wasn't on a family plan with verizon with 4 other people i would probably have them.

Actually all companies here are at fault, saying they have a 4G network, when by strict definition, they don't. Even AT&T is trying to conceal LTE as 4G.

I'm sure Verizon is laughing their head off. They can easily say they have the largest LTE network, and squash both. If they said they had a 4G network, then they're just lying.

Get it over 100 MBs and then you can say 4G. Why mess with the consumer's head? Because T-Mobile started saying they have a 4G network.

Wrong, verizon, sprint, and att have 4g (LTE is 4g) - its definitely not 3g.

T-Mobile has faux G

T-Mobile's claims of a super fast nationwide 4G network is laughable at best. The TV ads are a riot. If I were to ride the T-Mo girl's motorcycle across the country I'd hit more 2G spots than 3G or 4G. I live 30 miles away from a major city in my state that has T-Mobile 4G and AT&T LTE. AT&T has us covered with HSPA+ while T-Mobile has had the same 33k GPRS network here for over 12 years with no plans of upgrading anytime soon, not even to EDGE! Truth is if you're not in a large city or along a major interstate highway T-Mobile doesn't care about speed or coverage really. If AT&T can deliver 3G and 4G to rural areas T-Mobile could just as easily do the same, but they choose not to. Instead T-Mobile is focused on continuously upgrading their network where previous upgrades have already been made in the past to compete in the more heavily populated markets leaving everybody else with slower than dial-up technology that's practically useless. Try using your iPhone or Android with a 33k internet connection. Some apps won't even work at all and it takes forever to load a simple web page. T-Mo's customer service reps will tell you upgrades are on the way just to keep you as a customer when in reality they're lying through their teeth. That's why I left the T-Mobile scam a few years ago and went with a regional carrier that actually offered 3G. Now I'm using prepaid that operates on AT&T's network getting 4G HSPA+ speeds while everybody still with T-Mobile remains on GPRS. AT&T is right. T-Mobile's network does suck unless you live in a big city and never travel out of it. AT&T covers more ground than T-Mobile. That is a fact. AT&T wanted T-Mobile's spectrum and customers, not their network. T-Mobile's ads are deceptive and barely true. Both companies should be ashamed of their negative ads though. You'd think they were running a presidential election with all the mudslinging going on.

T-Mobile>AT&T any day

Specially with T-Mobiles $30 Walmart plan

100 talk minutes & unlimited txt & 5GB of unlimited 4G data

Perfect for my iPhone 4S

Can't beat that with any other carrier. You'd be paying more than $60+ for that same Plan!

5GB of unlimited 4G data? That doesn't make any sense. At all.

Also I'd love to see how many Kbps you're getting :D

Well, I'm sure Verizon is very pleased with all this.

Haha, they're sitting with popcorn. These ads have some major sass.

Not really since AT&T wanted to buy it for the spectrum. But of course, most people don't know that. I just learned that, too.
