Well, another two years NOT on T-Mobile for me! And no, I don't need some clerk to sell me an inferior device that's BOGO to "educate" me.

I don't understand this. If u want the iPhone that much, switch carriers. I would NEVER let a carrier restrict me from the phone I REALLY wanted.

"evil" was perhaps harsh. But I disagree with you in that the headline is editorialized. Intentional or not - it appears, to me, to be written in a way to get clicks.

LOL. And that's what sites do... look for increased traffic. Incidentally, your two examples would do exactly the same thing. Why? Because all three headlines (the actual and the two potential) speak to something that people have been itching to know. Will T-Mobile get the iPhone? Do the carriers have inside info? And so on.

One more comment - the headline they did use is the only one of the three headlines we've talked about that is actually a direct quote from the document pictured. So, one could say that YOUR two headlines are the ones that are editorialized.

Umm. The poster didn't let the carrier restrict him from getting the iPhone. That's why he's not on T-Mobile.

Selling Against the iPhone?

That's pretty funny. The premise assumes that when the new iPhone launches that there will be customers in T-Mobile stores to try to sell to!

T-Mobile just needs to get with it...whatever it takes. The longer they're without the iPhone the longer everyone loses.

Nothing new here. If you go into a verzion or AT&T store they will try to sell u ever phone but the iPhone. This internal memo is proof that tmobile will get the iPhone.
Sorry for the ignorance on the subject but why would they purposely try to NOT sell the iPhone?
We should want another carrier for the iPhone just for competition for the customer right?
On the topic of handsets I recently saw the Samsung Galaxy three it appeared really high quality. I love all my Apple products but don't see the downside to what appears to be a solid alternative.

Don't AT&T and Verizon employees try to "sell against the iPhone" also so they make better commissions? This could be a memo suggesting they are getting the iPhone, and they want to have employees trained to sell the other phones that make better profits. Especially seeing as how it goes into effect the day the next iPhone is reported to be released.

I disagree. It states the facts. You are reading into the headline too much.

The worst are the mall stores that have AT&T and Verizon logos but are actually "cellular sales" or something. In the past, they wouldn't sell the iPhone at all because the profit margins were so narrow. Now they sell it, but do everything they can to annoy you about your purchase. "OMG, don't you know Droids do so much more? You can STEAL MUSIC! You can STEAL APPS! You can STEAL MOVIES! Apple can't do that, you gonna pay a lot more for all your ****!"

I'm not kidding.

People buy iPhones from those stores? I buy directly from Apple. Nobody tries to sell me Android phones there...:D

As crazy as that sounds, you're unfortunately telling the truth. We have a Cellular Sales here in Swainsboro, Georgia. They are notorious about trying to downplay the iPhone. They moved the iPhone 4/4S display to the back where it's not seen from the parking lot anymore to the back opposite the front door. What did they replace it with? DROID RAZR MAXX. Yep.

So innovative, that a competitor was just found guilty of being non innovative and taking the easy way out by copying and fined over a billion dollars.

Not seeing the analogy there
Samsung was found guilty of copying the look and feel of previous iPhones. How can they copy a phone that isn't even released yet.

And I would never more than double my expenses for A PHONE... smart or otherwise. And that is precisely what I would incur if I switched over from my current T-Mo non smart phone to an ATT / Verizon smart phone. Anyone remember the original iPhone plan with ATT and what it included? Wasn't it $57 or $59.00 a month for a set number of talk minutes, set number of text and unlimited data. Now what's it costing you?

I would gladly get an iPhone subsidized on T-Mobile if I can get their 500 minute, unlimited text, unlimited data (2 GB at high speeds before throttling) phone plan if it is only going to cost me just $10 bucks more than I am currently paying now.

I was going to say this. Especially Verizon. And Best Buy.

If you have an iPhone, you're missing out on the new HTC Surround, a phone that has a whole sliding piece just for speakers (that got poor reviews) and has Zune integration!

And you're missing out on the Droid Bionic, which overloads the Grid with 1GB of RAM!!! Don't use the lame iPhone 4S, which only has 512MB of RAM. You can barely host a Minecraft server on that!

It is the fact that they knowingly copied. Regardless of the phone model, how innovative is that? That was my point.

However, big screen, faster processor, yeah makes for a new model but with new "innovative" technology, such as in-touch screen for thinner glass and thus thinner phone and latest tech in processor for improved phone performance.

I can copy the Bible with a few alterations here and there. Doesn't mean my version will be "titled" The Greatest Story Ever RE-Told!
