My understanding was that Tmobile was refarming their entire network. In other words, eliminate 1700 and replace it with 1900.

They are but there is no official word what areas have been done or what they are or will be working on. For all we know, they could be finished and focusing all on LTE.

T-Mobile's LTE will work with an AT&T iPhone. T-Mobile's HSPA+ high speed data will not.

Tmobile has 3G/4G high speed data on PCS HSPA, HSPA+ 21mbs and AWS HSPA, HSPA+ 42mbps.

2012 iPhone 5 = PCS HSPA HSPA+
2013 iPhone 5 = AWS & PCS HSPA HSPA +
Both will do AWS LTE.

tethering iPhone 4

Do they let you tether on iPhone without jailbreaking? Also do the limit your 4G data like T-Mobile does?
I have a European iPhone 4 and it let's you tether without jailbraiking.
Does anyones knows whether with this update this option disappears?

And how do I get this?? Not showing up OTA.

My understanding is that it will be pushed to your phone. You just have to wait till it happens.

For crying out loud. Just plug in your phone to iTunes and you should get a carrier update.

Calm down man. I think most of us are at work and that's why we want the OTA update over using iTunes. I'm sure a lot of people, like myself, can't have iTunes installed on their work PCs. :p

Still no carrier update here in Florida for T-mobile. I tried both manual update via iTune and wireless, no luck at all.
Anyone have already updated it?

To manually check for updates, go to Settings > General > About (not Software Update).

If you phone is eligible for the update it will prompt you. It may take some time for it to reach your device.

Edit: Source

may be we get t-mobile iPhone 5 .ipsw file and load it on ATT iPhone 5 2012, it will enable AWS on it?

No. The 3G/4G AWS band is hardware enabled at the factory. Software can't unlock it. However if you're in an area where AWS LTE is available...have at it.

I'm in Miami Fl, no update yet , I tried wireless and on PC, no luck. I used 2 different SIM cards T-Mobile and Solavei, no luck. I also turned off my device in multiple occasions but it didn't work

No, the carrier update will unlock it. Read the article. It mentions unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 unit getting AWS LTE. HSPA+ AWS will only be for new units going forward.
AWS LTE (T-Mobile and officially unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 only)
- HD Voice (T-Mobile and officially unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 only)
- AWS HSPA+ (T-Mobile and new 2013 AT&T iPhone 5 only)
Technically software can unlock the HSPA+ AWS band as well but Apple decided to not do it. There is a jaiblreak tweak to enable HSPA+ AWS so the hardware does support it and all that is missing is a driver in the install.

I would suspect that Apple might unlock the functionality in iOS 7 for even older iPhone 5 models.

Yes,

3G/4G HSPA+ still has to be enabled at the factory. And no, there is no jailbreak tweak to enable AWS 3G/4G. (Not LTE)

Just as a note, AT&T uses the same AWS LTE network at T-Mobile in some areas. That is why the carrier update enables LTE AWS. Apple has to whitelist an LTE network.

I'm surprised we haven't seen the carrier file posted here in these forums like we did when AT&T enabled MMS.

This makes me think very few people have it right now.
