It's the same thing as the silly people in the Apple Pay threads who were going to boycott stores for not accepting it. Those yahoos were definitely in the minority... and stupid. Rational adults don't act that way whether they favor Apple, Android, MS or whomever.

I have to agree with this. I saw people boycotting stores for not having ApplePay. Very elitist and ridiculous to say the least.

Now if this Tag is $3000 I would buy it over the apple iwatch rubbish. No flames but honestly, the only two products I love of apple is the iPhone and the iPad. Getting into the Apple world, I went all out and go the appletv and the mac book pro 17 with matt display only to realize that I just couldn't stand the mac book and the apple tv is a joke compared to the amazon firetv that allows kodi etc. anyways. this is the apple fan club and I'll find a lot of naysayers here !!

Risky strategy if they only intend to focus on Android! Surprises me that Tag seem to be tying themselves to Android only....bad move in my opinion. If you want to compete with all smart watches then multiplatform is the way to do so.

True but Apple isn't going to give Tag Heuer access to work work with the iPhone just to compete with the iWatch.

So many interesting comments. All of a sudden some people are saying the AppleWatch is ugly, hideous, trashy-looking....hmmm. Most other threads people are saying great things about it and want one. Well I guess some are getting paid to state the negative. Nothing new.

Or you're paying more attention to the comments that you agree with. ;)
The :apple: is somewhat polarizing. Some like the look. Some don't. Then there are a lot in the middle who think it's meh. A negative opinion of the :apple: watch is no more an indication of paid negativity than a positive one.

People and their opinions differ. My daughter likes the look of the :apple:watch. I think the LG Urbane looks better and more traditional. Does that mean I'm cashing checks from South Korea?

Incumbents, with decades of experience, really should be in the forefront of things like this, but never are. I think that's why Apple keeps on throwing old stuff out and starts over.

While I agree with you on TAG, I suspect when the watchmaker on the next rung up the ladder does the same thing you'll say the same thing about them too. TAG is the first but they won't be the last. And if Apple can take a fraction of that single digit K market Tim will be creaming his jeans.

I won't be saying that if a company "on the next rung up" because as a watch enthusiast, I'm usually not interested in watches under the $8000-$10,000 price point. And I don't think the companies in that range and higher have anything to worry about for a long time, if ever. The watches I'm talking about are "aspirational pieces". And Apple, nor any technology company, will ever make a watch that true watch fans, or the average person for that matter, aspires to own. Smart watches will ALWAYS be disposable gadgets. May be a useful gadget, but it's a still a gadget.

Absolutely, Apple and Tag are babies in this market (one in Watch/Fashion design while the other one is on the Technology/OS/Software). By all means Tag or any Swiss watch makers can enter market through a viable platform such as Android Wear or similar ones. Since Apple will not share its OS, their supporters need not feel offended if some one else chooses Android Wear to enter the market.

You talking about TAG? In a way, they are first to the dance as they are the first well-known "luxury/semi-luxury" watchmaker to enter the smartwatch market.

Actually the Swatch Group are the first, but they have hedged their bets against damaging their luxury mechanical brands by responding with the Swatch Touch.

I would think that Heuer's customers might be more offended by the linkage to Android than Apple's customers would be.

So you're saying Apple cant compete with their single platform watch?

Apple don't rely solely on watches if I remember rightly!!

Tag sells watches..nothing more so they need to be on multiple platforms for a better chance of success.

There's more android devices in this world than apple.

Oh well in that case everyone may as well stop developing for iOS as it clearly doesn't hold much market share

This is true...

Longines CEO said:

I still don't get why all these luxury watch companies have to take shots at Apple. I'm not aware of anyone at Apple trashing the traditional watch industry. In fact this is what Jony Ive told the Financial Times:

So why do the TAG's and Longines of the world feel the need to take swipes at Apple when Apple still shows great reverence for high end watches?

It's a sign the Apple may be onto something.

Maybe the :apple:Watch will be a smashing success, perhaps it won't...but it does have the industry shaken up.

This is a silly comment. Just because someone chooses a product that doesn't have this :apple: on it, that doesn't make them anti-Apple.

I didn't say that. In the general case, of course it's silly.

I said that in the case of SMART WATCHES ONLY - there is no general public want or need for these. There is no general public want or need for something like chocolate-chip pickles either. But if Apple was rumored to be coming out with chocolate-chip pickles, I'm sure there would be many companies who would immediately open manufacturing plants for chocolate-chip pickles. It's fueled by Apple - because companies got burned when the iPhone and iPad were released, they don't want to be thrice burned.

I think most of the people who are buying watches now, and NOT waiting for the apple watch are anti-Apple consumers. Those who WANT a watch, but would NEVER buy an Apple product. Consumers who are neutral will wait until the Apple Watch comes out, and then choose among all what is out there.

This is not surprising at all.

The copycats & wannabe's will always be sucking on hind tit to Apple.

As previously mentioned, Apple's software & sheer size of design & marketing teams beats the others into submission out the gate. What's the point - company stock write off's?

This is laughable.

And people have found code in Android Wear that shows that it will work with iOS, therefore making Android Wear multi platform.

Yep but it's not native and as a developer myself I'm aware what a headache it can be to have a poor port when trying to develop for multiple platforms.

The highlight of the steam locomotive technology arc was the replacement of coal fired steam generation by oil-fired steam generation, this innovation made everything much more efficient in terms of fueling, but the limitations of mechanical complexity could not withstand the onslaught of the diesel-electric concept's technology superiority and ease of use in deriving additional utility.

No, because if you were, you'd know Samsung doesn't pay their astroturfers in cash.

They give you baked goods and pastry rewards.

LG pays straight cash homey. $1000 won for 1000 post. I'm gone be riiiich!!
Samsung? Psssh. I stopped working for them when my back deck broke from storing cartons and cartons of these:

What if their phone isn't an iPhone? It's pretty pointless to wait until the Apple Watch comes out if you own an Android or Windows phone.
