Sorry but Apple is an luxury brand tech for mainstream, and the only one.

First, you can't have "luxury" and "mainstream". They are mutually exclusive. Apple is a mass market brand, there is nothing luxurious about it. Their products cost the same, they perform the same and they pretty much look the same as everything else out there as well.

Second, even if it was a "luxury" brand, there are tons of others out there as well. There are lots of them on the HiFi market. Vertu would be the luxury brand in the smartphone market, and I seem to recall that TAG Heuer had one as well.

BMW, Audi, Infinity, Lexus and Acura would disagree. And they all certainly mainstream brands.

Despite the fact the a Ford Fusion and Chrysler 300 can be decked out with just as many toys as a BMW 328 with a similar price, those other cars will never be a luxury brand caliber vehicle.

The iWatch will not dominate the real luxury watch market ...
With that said, Tag Heuer isn't what I call a luxury watch IMO.

Tag might not be a "real" luxury watch, but it's part of the very profitable segment of the watch business. Of which Apple could take a nice bite of the future revenue.

I have a bold prediction:

The Apple iWatch will not affect a single sale of a Rolex, or that of any luxury watch brand.

Right. You might not find a single individual who says they did this. Just many millions of dollars of Rolex retailer revenue, mostly from their lower end (plain steel, Tudor, etc.) that has somehow weakened below current projections.

Mercedes is an luxury mainstream brand. Get real, how old are you ?:)

I am sure you can ask now Vertu, Sony Vaio who pretend that dominate the premium of their segment device 5 years ago...now where are they..Vertu is declining fast

I agree. They're at a price point where it won't break the bank and won't cost years of savings at the same time.

Lol....what a strange definition about luxury ...so what is luxury for people like David Beckham or very rich people?
If someone can afford to buy 100000 Rolex watches every month that means Rolex is not a luxury brand? :D

----------

Let put the card on the table of what luxury means and why Apple remain the only luxury tech for now.

Luxury: A state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense.

They are a tiny fraction of the real luxury business. Those products are a designed part of the marketing strategy to bring more customers into larger boutique retailers to buy lesser priced items, where most of the actual "luxury" business revenue lies.

I was commenting on Firewood's comments agreeing that the price point of Tag is in an area where the iWatch could take a nice portion of.

I'm beginning to think your reading comprehension needs work with what you've been posting.

Also, I have yet to read your reply on my comments the last page.

They certainly are mainstream, and they certainly aren't luxury cars. They themselves don't use the term "luxury", but "premium". Which is kinda like the equivalent of "designer brand" in the car world.

No it isn't. It's an upscale family car maker that has the odd super car in their lineup.

I'm old enough to have owned quite a few of those Mercs, as a matter of fact. I've had among others an SL500 and an ML55 AMG, but I wouldn't call either of them a luxury car.

You know that you are wrong. Luxury term is not involving a starting price.
There is a standard definition of "luxury" word

And by definition Apple is a luxury tech like Armani/Luis Vuitton are luxury goods

Thats tell me or that you are lying about your age or you really don't know the definition of "luxury" word.

Mercedes S Classe is a luxury car. A Ferrari isn't for example.
And you talk about specific car model...i am talking about the BRAND MERCEDES

What? Apple provides neither "great comfort or elegance", and it certainly does not involve a great expense.

Why do you keep arguing, when clearly Apple doesn't even meet your definition of luxury?

So Apple product aren't elegant? compare to other? they aren't more comfortable than other ? yea right

I am talking about luxury brands, and you talk about luxury cars...i just made a point that Mercedes S clsse is a luxury car so Mercedes brand is not a luxury brand ?? someone here contradict himself :)

No, no and no. Any other questions?

Or well, an iPhone is nice compared to a Chinese no-brand $50 Android that is made of the same plastic as the liner of a chocolate box, but it certainly does not stand out in any way from any other semi-good phone out on the market.

Apple ignores arguments over definitions and specs, and just makes stuff that takes a lions share of a market segments profits from above-median customers.

There are a lot of Paparazzi photos of iPhones coming out of some celebrities Luis Vuitton purse... not many Vertu's... whether or not you call either a luxury item.

Sports mega-stars wearing some new iDevice in public next year? Who knows.

Yep. And that someone is you. Just because some manufacturer has a luxury model does not in any way imply that the entire brand would be considered luxurious. Just as no one looks at an A class and thinks "wow, look at that luxury car".

Now, an all platinum, diamond encrusted iPhone would indeed be a luxury phone. That would not make all iPhones, let alone Apple as a whole a luxury brand by any means.

Sorry to say, but you just want to argue and thats all. An iphone is more elegant than most of the other smartphones and has a premium price. An iMac is the most elegant all-in-one and the price it's premium, an ipad is more elegant of the most tablets out there and so on with all of Apple products. Luxury means elegant than others direct competitors, a more attention to detail.

So overall Apple is luxury tech brand.

That already looks better than any android watch I've seen to date.

It looks better because it displays a classic, well-designed watch face, not because the hardware is looking good. The problem is that once you want to display information that strays away from what resembles a mechanical watch face, ie, needing digits or letters, things look much different.

Even the best looking 'digital' (showing information with digits) watches don't look quite as good. Take for example the Suunto Core or Ambit (which are some better looking sport watches in my opinion):

Lol to anyone who thinks Apple or wearables will take over the luxury watch segment.

We don't know that, but I think it's safe to say it won't be a clone of the current crop of smart watches (i.e. notifications on your wrist).

It's not often that I agree with Rog, but on this occasion I think that he is spot on.
