no but i mean will they be able to tell if i have or not?

I'm not 100% sure but I suspect there will be some dead giveaways in the diagnostics that will tell them that the phone hasn't been restored. And if they catch you lying, then the likelihood of having a successful resolution drops a bit.

----------

Does it feel like your 6+ is doing maybe 15% better then a 5 or 5S? Then it's probably performing appropriately.

It should be more like 20-40% -- probably more if you're judging against a partially degraded 5/5S battery.

I'm getting at least 20% more with the regular 6 over my 5 (probably much of that is degradation of the 5's battery)

Took my plus to the Genius bar today, as I was experiencing what I thought was pretty short usage time for a plus. The battery checked out OK, but what they did find was a lot of crashing software and apps. I didn't even know things were crashing, but apparently it was all happening in the background. They showed me the crash log and it was a list of about 20 things.
If anyone thinks their battery life is not up to par, take it in and have them run a diagnostic. Also, from what the gentleman was telling me, they can do a deeper restore than we can on the home computer. I guess they can rewrite the firmware instead of just validating it, which is what happens at home.

Took it in today

The genius was really helpful and checked my phone it had perfect battery but was having crashing with the backboard and so therefore replaced my phone free of charge. Unfortunately on this new phone it is crashing the backboard as well starting to think iOS 8 is the problem

Did you restore from backup again? It's possible that the crashing has something to do with that.

so dont use my phone as it is intended?

Dont listen to him lol, have you tried the bunch of battery tips? Like turning off Background app refresh(or turn it off for apps you dont need it for), limit ad tracking on, push/fetch email settings, auto brightness , and more

Yep. Hope they hurry up with 8.1.

No the genius advised me to set up as new but the crashing persists and the battery life aswell

He also told me that my battery should be lasting 2 days

How do you know if it's still crashing? Did they run another diag on the new one? After he restored mine, the genius told me it needs to run for a couple days to get a clear picture on what's happening.

Go to diagnostics under privacy it shows you the crashes

The battery is just not living up to what everyone else is saying 4:30pm here been in class since 10 and I have 28%

such a disappointment :(

has anyone else had issues?

Do you have imonitor widget? Because that drained my batter huge. Now on my six I'm getting amazing battery life. Before when I had that widget it was horrible

For the 6 Plus, it should last roughly 2 days with moderate usage. I get nearly a day and a half with just the regular 6. Keep in mind, however, that if you're downloading a bunch of apps and syncing to your iCloud account when you first get the phone, you're going to drain the battery quickly (and you'll probably notice the phone is warm because it's not getting a chance to idle). Once that process is over and you've gone through 2-3 charging cycles, you can properly assess battery life.

iOS 8 has some bugs that Apple needs to work out, especially with regard to the 6 Plus. Which apps have been crashing on you?

Stacks backboard that's what the crash is

Nope no widgets :/

Got it, thanks. I forgot all about that.
So far mine isn't logging anymore crashes, but it's only been about seven hours since the restore. Hopefully it holds.

Yes, it's possible.

Example: using the Music app with the screen off counts. So, if you play a podcast for two hours through your headphones with the screen off you'll see two hours of "screen use time" on your battery stats, even though your screen was off the whole time. No lie. Try it. That's how people get 14-15 hour figures out of their batteries.

Agreed! There is no other way to get 14-15 hour figures by playing games and a mixture or other stuff throughout the day. #

Seems to be all in the eyes of the user. I'm getting the same 10% per hour as the OP's screen shot suggests and I feel like it's great battery life.

I just went to my diagnostics screen and I have a lot of the same errors you mention. I really think the biggest factor is if you are getting strong signals or not. Low signals seem to suck up the battery fast. Right now my phone has had the screen on playing audio over bluetooth for an hour and I'm still at 100%. I know once I start texting and such it will go down faster. I really think anything in the 10-12 hour range is normal. So 28% with 7 hours use puts you in that ballpark OP. Let us know how the replacement is doing.

I agree, turn off WiFi and see what happens. Some wireless networks in schools or hotels take a huge toll on battery life due to their configuration.

I get roughly 1 hour per 10% on my 6+. Same as you. Just in how you use it. I've never considered it an issue.

that couldn't happen but i'm seeing people get 14h usage, surely its not normal that mine is only getting 9ish when I haven't used any games or anything

I feel like no one really talks about screen brightness in these threads. I'm rocking full brightness majority of the time and I can get about 9-11 hours actual use. Pretty damn good!

My last charge was 7 hours use, 1 day 8 hours stand by with 31% left.

Try not running apps in the background and reduce the screen brightness

Go to the Apple Store and they will tell you that your battery is fine. Force them the exchange and you could end up with another problem.

try to leave your attitude outside the Apple Store door:p

Ok so the phone has lasted me from 8am until 9pm it's impressive but it doesn't live up to my other friends and people on heres battery life.
Also i put it on sleep, turn it back on and the % keeps going down.

Do you think it might all be in my head? I genuinely think there might be a slight problem. I'm going to restore now

Unless you turn you phone off t will always use some power.

Apple will take you phone in the back and do a battery test. They will decide what to do next.

Enjoy your restore.

I have noticed my battery is not as good as it was when I first received it on launch day. I did not restore from backup when I got my phone but added apps for a fresh start this go-round. Battery life actually seems even worse after 8.0.2 update. Still better than a day but not full 2 days like it was in beginning. Just checked my diagnostics and lots of crashes: awdd, JetsamEvent,LatestCrash, stacks+backboardd. Would seem to be iOS 8. Patiently hoping for improvement with iOS 8 updates. Hey, it's still way better than my 5s was!

If you get crappy signal while in a building it will eat up at it due to it searching for signal.
This.

OP: Your screenshot shows you having 2 bars of T-Mobile coverage. How many bars are you typically getting throughout your day? The worse the coverage, the harder your phone works to get coverage. If you're in a building with WiFi for a long period of time, maybe it would be worth trying to turn off cellular to see how that impacts things.

is the op still crying that his battery is only getting 9 hours?? wowzer...Most people aren't even getting 8..and this kid cries when he gets 9..true apple queen..
