^ Friend? Lies! :p jk

Okay, the stove is off, parts are out. It might need some more time if it isn't dark enough, but I think it should be fine.

This is what they look like before cleaning... Reminds me of those Litho icons!

why are you coloring it like that? it can fade later..
just pick up some car color and paint it with that, it will also be shiny

lol edit:

it doesnt look pretty :D

i say it will fade in less then a week

Nice and shiney. Good work. Surrounding the Apple logo, the color seems a bit darker (?).

Noticed that too, I held it off the bottom of the pan with fishing wire, so it bowed in the middle and was submerged more. I figure another 30 minutes on that and the bottom-case and I am completely finished with dye.

Im working on the second (and I plan to do one quick final coat) of dye right now at a quick boil... Looks more evan already.

I still have the dye, but I don't think Im going to do any more coats. I will do some more cleaning in the morning, 3am is time to go to sleep. :p

I think I will make the Apple Logo black with a Jel, should look good.

are you leaving the keys and the palm rest white and gray?
the result looks awesome btw
does the black jel let any light through?

It might be the fact that i've taken hundreds of laptops apart (all makes/models). But why is everyone so intimidated by the disassembly process? It's really not that bad. And it goes back together the same way it came apart heh

Looking good - think it needs to be darker :)

Because some people just don't know how to use a screwdriver ;)

Looks great! It's almost impossible to get a perfect dye without a professional setup.

Now put her back together :p

Can't wait to see what it will look like back together! I would never do that to my MacBook!

This is amazing. Keep posting your progress.
Are you adding any colored film where the Apple logo is?

I did the iColours.ca thing...but I sweated all the way through it. I doubt I have the guts for something like this. It's looking good, though. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Nice work.

Right now, I have a really messed up topcase, so its not worth putting the time into doing. The other thing, is unlike the iBook, the keyboard is built into the topcase, and cannot be separated. I need to figure out a way to do that. If I cannot figure out a way (suggestions please!), I will just do the keys in yellow.

Also, I'm thinking of a charcoal-black type jel, it will light up when on and will look near solid black when off. (I have a friend who does lighting for plays and movies, so I can get any color I want really.)
