That's their online only offer and differs from the in Ad/In store offer of $40 Gift Card with purchase of ANY Ipad

I absolutely agree that it says ANY! My physical ad is in my car so I can see the fine print if any. I hope this deal is on the new Ipad releases on Friday but wanted to give a heads up to people going to the store because I have seen many times where you get to the store and it becomes a case of "that is excluded" and people leave a store disappointed.

Yes buying from Target - get $80 in gift cards. Hopefully I get the Target iPads within 2 weeks - borrow Apple's iPads for 14 days :) then return.

That doesn't hurt Apple at all, as you seemed to be indicating. Target is the one taking the loss.

how would that not hurt apple? he is going to use the ipad they sent him and then return it to them before his 14 days is up. Not only is apple gonna be paying to ship it back but they will now have an ipad they have to sell as refurbished...

Do you think this would work at the actual store? I didn't pre-order an iPad since I'm exchanging mine (got it just two weeks ago) and was wondering if they'll do it at the store or if I could call them up and ask for one

Okay, I have talked to 5 people now and been shot down every time. I'm on the phone with the 6th and he put me on hold to find out...

Edit: denied again. The man I just spoke with said, "well, we could offer you a max of 5% price matching, so the deal at Target is actually a better deal." and I said, "So, you're saying I should return the iPad to Apple, and then buy it through Target?" and he said "Umm, Yeah."

He didn't sound all that professional to say the least.

It's strange how inconsistent the customer service is. Most companies I have dealt with are equal on the help they will offer. Another lady I talked to said they could do a max of 2% price matching, then another said they don't match at all.

called apple, they transferred over to sales for some reason, and then back to customer service. got shot down because the item had already shipped. oh well looks like i'm going to test out the ipad mini i get from apple and return it on the 14th day.

i've called Apple a few times before...and compared to Amazon's CS, Apple's CS isn't even in the same ball park. with all the money they have you would think they can do a little more for us.

Amazon is amazing - I almost feel bad when I have a problem they are so amazing.

Just called and spoke with Clay who put me on hold to speak to his supervisor. He came back and said that he'd credit me back for the iPad Mini Smart Cover I also bought with the order and that I'd receive the credit in 3-5 business days!

Initially, I thought he was going to deny me because his voice immediately turned somber when I asked him about the ad -- he definitely seemed like he's been handling hundreds of calls about the same thing. But I'm glad the call went off without a hitch!

I do feel a little guilty of exploiting this, but I also feel taken aback by their premature release of the iPad 4 so I guess my conscience evens itself out. :)

Why is that not professional? Apple doesn't have to price match anything. If you want it cheaper buy it at Target. They actually sound pretty nice offering you any discount at all.

why would you feel bad for a company with over $100 billion in cash reserves burning a hole in their pockets.

I wish I had unlimited funds so i could use the $45 coupon along with free smart cover for the whole world

How did you get to the page where you could see the credited smart cover?

Wow, I just had an UNBELIEVABLE experience. I called twice. The first time, I spoke to a nice lady, but I was told very directly that they don't do any price matches. Okay, that's fine. So I figured I'd give it one more shot. Spoke to a guy named Kevin in ipad sales. Without providing any of my order details, I explained the promotion and asked him if they would price match Targets deal, and he started telling me "you're not the first person to ask me for the same thing! We're not a charity!! If you can't afford it, you shouldn't buy from us!" I was honestly shocked. All I could respond was "what?" and he made some noise (it really sounded like "motherf*ing..." something under his breath, no joke) and said "I can't help you." And he hung up.

I called back and told a supervisor what happened, and she said she'd look into it. I've always had pretty decent service from Apple (except for a couple occasions), and I understand that people have bad days, but this was unacceptable. This guy was seriously unhinged.

Good luck to anyone willing to go thru them for this. I'm out.

I wonder if they can find the guy. That's insane.

Called 3 times and was shot down. Called a 4th time a few hours later and the rep said she'd heard about that deal at target and would talk to her supervisor. She came back and said it was no problem and would add a free smart case to my order as a sort of price match. The smart case had already shipped before I realized the smart case isn't compatible with the iPad mini, so I had to call yet again to have it changed from a smart case to an iPad mini Smart Cover. I've now got an iPad mini Smart Cover and a smart case on their way to my house now lol. Love apple CS. :)

called about four times. Shot down all four. The last call the rep said she'd ask her supervisor about getting me a free smartcover and then looked up the ad. On the target website only the fullsize ipad were eligible for the promotion, so that's what she went by even though she acknowledged that the ad says "any" iPad. Any tips?

Entitlement much?

If you want to take advantage of Target's ad, shop at Target. Apple doesn't owe you anything.

That's right. So what I'm going to do for Apple is open up their brand new iPad mini, use it for 14 days, and then return it so they can refurbish it and sell it again, since Apple doesn't want to credit me the difference in the amount.

Apple doesn't owe anyone anything, but I wouldn't consider what they're doing as the best option they have, and a smart cover costs what....$2 dollars to make?
