For those of you who are interested, I have created a web-based tracker going off of the PHP code that was suggested earlier in the thread.

I modified it a bit, and it seems to work fine. I uploaded a copy of it to my server for all to use. I'd appreciate comments/concerns/feedback. Also, I'd appreciate it if you limit searches to 2-3 ZIP codes at a time and just overall being not so obsessive when refreshing. It does take a while to load because it is pulling all the data through the Target servers for each model (18 if my math is correct) and each zip code you enter.

Enjoy. :apple:

PS: If my server blows up, well, I'm sorry. I tried!

Update: I modified it a bit more. Now you can select which model(s) you wish to check each time.

Best of luck finding an iPad 2!

Made this for my own use, though I'd share:

It doesn't do anything fancy, but it's a relatively handy and decent-looking (on the iPhone) interface for plugging all the various DPCIs + your ZIP code into Target's tracker.

During testing, sometimes this Just Didn't Work™; instead of the "Mobile Find In Store" page, an unhelpful error page would come up. But it seems to be working pretty well now. Use at your own risk, etc.

Thanks to both of you guys. Apparently there is a 16GB ATT White somewhat in my area but that's not the model I want so I'll let others have it. :)

The only Target that has gotten any in Atlanta the past 2 days was Marietta East.

Looks like that store hit again this morning, appears to have White Wifi 32GB and White VZW 32GB as "Available" right this moment. Not my interest, so won't be bothering.

Good luck to anyone heading there.

Same here, looking for wifi only. Why hasn't any of the major stores inside the perimeter gotten any this week? :(

Been wondering if the proximity of an Apple Store influences the supply chain to retail partners such as Target or Walmart. Haven't seen a hit on the script on the Houston-Galveston axis for the week I've been running it, and there are 2 Apple Stores within the radius.

Happened to be driving through Hammond, LA over the weekend and got a hit at the Target there, drove right in and bought 2...right place right time! Only Apple Stores in the whole state are in NOLA and Baton Rouge...

Script worked wonders !! Brilliant

Ellicott City MD and Columbia MD got shipments of the 16GB wifi. Went into EC 10 minutes after my alert and they were still in the shipping box on the electronics counter.

It looked like they about a dozen

Appears to be gone now.

Check BestBuy -- Buckhead store shows stock on 32GB White, and both colors 16GB Black. No telling whether these are available or for reservations; need to go physically and ask, the phone people don't know or tell the truth.

I find the proximity to be an unlikely factor. Last week the Perimeter Target in Atlanta got some every day except Thursday and Friday.

another weird trend I noticed is all the Atlanta targets were getting them in stock last week and showed available for store opening, all the ones this week have been showing up available after 11 AM.

script not working

So the script is checking the status, but it won't tell me they are available. I know that Target has them currently, it shows on the site.....but the script never reports that.

I found that to be 100% true at the smyrna store, they lied on the phone and then had overflow stock on reserved orders not picked up. They were AT&T and VZN though.

The target info posted here has been helpful but I have missed out by a few minutes each time I've gone to a store with "available" listing. Today's experience was interesting. I happened to be getting into my car when a store in my area had the one I was looking for become available; timing couldn't have been better- I got there in 10 minutes. The salesperson, who was very nice, said they had gotten 10 and sold them as soon as they were unboxed. I couldn't have gotten there faster and didn't expect this on a wed am! In any case, he suspected that the majority were scalpers, not consumers, and they seemed to know in advance that a shipment was coming to that store at that time and were ready and waiting. The other 9 targets in my area did not get shipments today. I wonder if there's some "inside info" the scalpers have about where the deliveries are going to go. I dont think I have much hope of getting one as a regular consumer!

Yeah I don't think there is a direct correlation between the two... It sure does seem like it though!

There are like 4 Apple stores that I can think of in the Houston area... I haven't been keeping track that often but I did find that Katy West has the 16GB ATT White available.

Congrats on finding some in LA!

Same for Kennesaw store -- they had overflow 16GB Wifi Black units on Monday during the day. Had told me on the phone they had nothing.

What does your Script Results say? (in the black window)
What Is your zipcode?
Which models are you looking for?

This script is awesome. I just started using it a couple of hours ago and I already scored a 32 gig black AT&T model. The store had 4 of them. There should still be 3 left for anyone near Southington in CT. Thanks for this awesome script.

Been trying to track for ones in Houston (77056), havent gotten anything in last 2 days. Thanks for the programs though, not sure how to have it constantly run in the background, but I try and check every so often.

Looking for a 32GB ATT, but any of the 3G's will be fine..this is for a gift for dads birthday

On a related issue, Target.com claimed my local Target had a green smartcover for the iPad2 in stock, so I went over there today. None on any shelves. It took three clerks and my stubborn insistence to get them to check their stock room, and sure enough they found one. They mentioned the ipad/ipod aisle was due for a reset next week, so I'm concluding the new stock doesn't have any place for it on the shelves/hooks and isn't being pulled out until that reset happens. The clerk was surprised they had several smart covers in the back, as well as other iPad-2 accessories.

My point? If Target.com store check says a store has what you want, don't leave the store until they find it. I walked out with a green smartcover they didn't think they had. My wife will be thrilled.

This is so true. I called asking to confirm if the target that the script said had 32 gig AT&T black actually had it and they said no. Luckily I drove the 20 miles and found they had 4 of them

You really think this is still some big secret just among us on this forum?

no, but you can't "like" the script on facebook by clicking a button, or easily e-mail it out, etc. a website that does it for you is a lot more shareable than a script that you have to download and run..
