Well double blow for me. No watch, from Target, it appears. My other watch, from Best Buy got delayed and canceled. Now my iPhone 7 Plus that I ordered at 2:30 AM Central time on 9/9 got delayed until October 7 from Best Buy.

Probably done shopping at both Target and Best Buy over these issues. They shouldn't selling Apple products as preorders. Only Apple should in North America.

Did you just get an email from Best Buy about the delay in your iPhone? Are they sending gift card for that mix up too?

Yes. I would gladly give up the 100 for the phone tomorrow.
[doublepost=1473986165][/doublepost]Has anyone actually spoken to Target? I still have no details on the watch. Is it coming next week? Do they have any idea when it is coming? I get a $50 gift card and nothing else.

Mine still shows...

backordered for Michael ***
arriving by Fri, Sep 16

You guys the same?
Mine shows the same. Driving me nuts. I called and talked to a women in customer service who told me it looks like it will come off backorder on 9/16 and I should get it on 9/17. I'm not holding my breath but who knows. I paid the extra $15 too.

I also got the strange $50 gift card email.

I am 100% sure I will get my jet black 128gb iPhone 7 I preordered from Apple tomorrow so I still have that to look forward to.

I am not getting that feedback at all. The representative has been trained to say it "might" or "won't" arrive tomorrow. I am only told to wait a few days and see what happens. I asked for a supervisor and he came back on the line and told me the Supervisor says to wait and see what happens tomorrow.

They have no idea what is going on.

I asked to speak to a Supervisor and they reluctantly came on. I pressed them on details about when the item was coming and they started stuttering worse than a politician telling a lie. They continued to tell me to just wait for the item and it would be coming. Suggesting more details were needed, I got put on hold so they could look at their notes on this issue. Excuse me, if you had notes about this, why didn't you start with that?

Their notes state that every customer who has preordered an Apple Watch will receive a $50 Gift Card as an Apology. She checked my email and said it was already sent. (I played dumb for now and said I would have to look.) She said that Apple cannot get the shipment to Target and they would not have the Watches available until the end of September. But no specific time can be given at this time.

However, I can go on Target.com and place an order for a Stainless Steel Apple Watch Series 2 in Silver and do Express Shipping for a promised 9/19 delivery. She said that date would be incorrect and she can't control what the website says.

Just another example of Third Parties who have no business handling preorders for Apple. It tarnishes the brand, angers customers, and makes them distrust everyone. Apple needs to handle preorders exclusively and Third Parties need to handle orders on a first come, first serve basis on release day.

So to summarize, there will be no Target Apple Watch orders arriving this weekend or even next week. It will be more in line to what Best Buy was saying with delivery on 9/26 to the end of the month at the earliest.

You sure that those are for the series 2 and not the first gen saying 9/19? Does the price have a discount? If so, that's the old model and that is all I saw for 9/19 express.

Attached is the screenshot from the Apple Watch Series 2 Silver Stainless Steel with White Band I just tried to preorder with the shipping options shown in the checkout screen. I am not doctoring this or making it up. I brought up this issue with the supervisor as to why they would continue to let new customers place orders when they knowingly can't fulfill them.

Yup, gift card apology or not, this pisses me off. Big time. That is blatant false advertising and poor business.

The thing that makes it worse is they continue to lie to new customers. Why give the option to preorder it for dates they can't fulfill? See the above post for the screenshot of delivery options.

Agreed. And I'm stuck waiting I guess, as the only reason I ordered through Target was because I had gift card money to use...and I thought because of their posted ship date that they'd have stock and would deliver tomorrow. Guess they just outright lied...and continue to do so on their website. Looks like they'll be handing out $50 gift cards like candy.

Hmm, just checked Target and I can get an Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Space Black Series II, and have it delivered tomorrow, 16th September. Something tells me this is a serious lie!

I might dash to Best Buy at 08:00 tomorrow (they're opening early) and see if they have any...

At least Target finally emailed us? I am sure glad that they know NOTHING about when we might get the item. Could Apple really give retailers this little information?

Thank you for your recent pre-order for the Apple Watch Series 2.
Unfortunately, we are experiencing delays in receiving select Apple Watch Series 2 inventory from the manufacturer. You may not receive your Apple Watch Series 2 by the original date promised in checkout.
We are working quickly to get you your order as soon as possible. In the meantime, here is what you need to know:

  • We will be expediting all orders as inventory becomes available to get you your Apple Watch as soon as possible.
  • You can view your order status online by visiting the order details page.
We hate to disappoint our guests and want to apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this may cause. We will be emailing you a $50 Target eGiftCard in the next 24 hours you can use toward a future purchase in stores or online.
If you have any additional questions, you should contact Target.com Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.
Sincerely,

Team Target

If i do not approve delivery date, does my gc go invalid? Thats the case with bb right? Had 42mm series 2 space gray alum now backordered til early oct

Apparently they don't show you the new ETA until you approve the order. Just approved mine, 9/29-10/15. Guess I have a couple weeks to decide if I still want this $400 worth.

What pisses me off more than anything is that up until I went to bed last night it still said it was delivering today. Feels like a slap in the face.

If I cancel my order now do I still get to keep the gift card?

From what I've seen in the Best Buy thread the answer is yes.

As far as I can tell there's nothing on the gift card that stipulates you have to keep the order active. You might want to double check. If it's not there I think you're well within your rights to cancel and use it. You didn't buy from someone else because Target told you they'd get you the watch today. And now you're at the back of the line wherever you go. You're inconvenienced either way.

If you're unsure I'd do what some people in the Best Buy thread are doing - use the gift card first, then cancel the order.

The whole thing just reeks of bad business. How can you offer a hot item that you know people will jump on for pre-sale, only to have no idea when your stock is coming in, and still have the gall to offer express shipping for delivery on launch date?

At the end of the day, I will be waiting on my order, as I used a large amount of existing Target gift card money to buy this, so I wouldn't be able to get a better deal elsewhere (nor would there likely be stock anywhere anyway). But both Target AND Apple need to be aware that this is definitely NOT how to handle preorders for a hot ticket item, and I may just take the time to let them both know it.

That's where I'm at. I used a $50 Target card I got for test driving a vehicle I didn't really test drive. I got $20 off for using my Target RedCard. And now I'm basically getting $50 off for this debacle. By the time it's all said and done that's about 33% off the price of my watch. I'd give the $50 back to have it today though. Heck, I'd even pay $200 more and upgrade to a SS if I could get it today.

What I can't get past is that when I went to bed last night my account still showed my watch would be delivered today. I understand things happen but not updating the site really grinds my gears. They obviously knew at 10pm last night that my watch hadn't been mailed out for delivery today.

Our nearest Apple stores are 3 hours away. Next time I may just pre-order with Apple and make the drive.

Target emailed me with an update on the order that I placed for an Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel. I decided to swing by the Apple Store @ Dadeland Mall in Miami. Long lines for the iPhone 7 but they had a separate line for buying anything else. This line was significantly shorter. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes and I arrived 5 minutes to the store opening. The only Apple Watch's in stock in 42mm was the Space Black with Milanese Loop for $749 and the Space Grey Aluminum with Black Sport Band for $399. I picked up the Space Grey. Didn't want to pay $749 for the Space Black. I just cancelled my order with Target. Now, I'm off to lunch and to play with my new watch. Good luck everybody.

Congrats! The one you ended up getting is the same one I have on order.

I know this tread is for Apple watches but has anyone heard anything about the iphone 7+ preorders from target. I preordered on the 9th and have confirmation.

I cancelled my order last night and still received a gift card from Target. I might hold out and just reorder. Apple seems to be doing this in order to build hype and show larger demand. The thought is "if it's sold out then it must be great."

I actually canceled my original order and then re-ordered a different model using the $50 gift card!

How much delay did it add to your revised shipping date? I contemplated doing this as well, but don't want to have to wait even longer.
