Hmm...and The Loop has a story up about how Apple has been working through these issues for weeks. More and more I'm starting to wonder if this wasn't just some big PR stunt.

http://www.loopinsight.com/2015/06/25/not-entirely-down-to-taylor-swift/
Adrian Pope, Managing Director of PIAS, says: “ Over the last three weeks or so we and others have worked hard to secured a range of significant benefits, protections and improvements on the originally proposed terms.

To be honest, after her letter was viewed as the catalyst, to apple changing thier stance, she had to do this, otherwise she would be called a hypocrite.

Well played Talylor.

She also tweeted:

In case you're wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you've seen Apple do with other artists, it's not. This is simply the first time it's felt right in my gut to stream my album. Thank you, Apple, for your change of heart.

So there's no reason why it won't appear on other streaming services soon.

You don't have to listen to her music to see where she sits on the charts and know this is a big deal for the service. The most popular music on these services according to recent charts is metal. I will listen to the category every so often but I really could not tell you at the moment who the most popular metal band is. I'm sure somewhere, unlike me at the moment, there are a group of people that really care. This is why this is a big deal. Getting an artist on board that no one else has been able to get.

How will Apple Music sound quality compare with Spotify (using HQ setting)? Quite frankly, that means a lot more than if yet another generic and forgettable pop artist's music is available or not.

I wonder if Apple possibly pay more to larger artists, like they'd pay double revenue if The Beatles were on there? Sort of like when you go to a concert, the larger artists will get paid more. It means that it will encourage consumers to jump to Apple Music streaming as they'll have more artists, and then in the long run get them invested in the ecosystem ... plus that will encourage larger artists to join Apple music.

But is it really that huge? I'm pretty sure that most people that would care about this already own her album anyway.

What do I know? I personally couldn't care less about Taylor Swift.

It is. It's not just Taylor Swift, it's more a testament to Apple's negotiation power.

This whole stunt was a PR move from the beginning.

I 100% agree. She's going to get 0.02 cents per stream during the 3 free month trial. If her music is streamed 4million times she'll make less than $25k. She's getting screwed by the label. The label is trying to make her bigger by putting her name in the mix of everything so she can get PR. She can't pull out of the label and she doesn't have the power to remove herself from streaming services. Thats 100% the label or distributors power. She's just being used to generate PR buzz about it. This whole thing stinks.

Poor Spotify. Apple Music now has the best selling album of the last 2 years at their disposal.

I'd say it is a reflection of the state of music atm, I doubt spotify users are Taylor swift fans.

They actually just got me with a 2 month free trial. I'm going to enjoy my free spotify and apple music trial :)

Best marketing/advertising ever. Write a letter to apple... create news cycle.... now stream album. Payment is only 0.2 cents per song stream, but that could really add up if millions stream the album.

Yep. and pretty much at the point where anyone who would have purchased it, already has. I don;t buy that this is just a change of heart for her. There is definitely some type of deal with Apple. maybe not for streaming, but for something else

Taylor Swift crushed Apple and she didn't even break a sweat.

She is Supergirl.

And in doing so, had to really put her album on Apple Music, otherwise she'd look like a hypocrite. In doing so, it gives Apple Music exclusivity and publicity. It's all PR rubbish - whether Taylor was in on it or not, or whether she took Apple's PR bait, remains to be seen.

It looks like TS won, though I'd be willing to argue that Apple are laughing megalomaniacally right now.
