Very interesting , if it was a PR stunt, seems the BEATs influence is coming through .
Which kind of makes me want to vomit inside. Of course we don't know it was a stunt but considering Apple has been working through this for weeks it seems a bit suspicious the way it all went down.

I doubt spotify users are Taylor swift fans.

She has a Spotify profile page that is official and has 3.2 million followers. All of her music use to be on the service, 1989 was even on there for a very short amount of time before being pulled.

As I am reading the responses on her Twitter, most people a) have no clue what Apple Music is and b) are asking "What about Spotify too?".

Well then.

Damn! Spotify should really be worrying that Taylor is on Apple Music! If they can get the Beatles as well, woah!

How will Apple Music sound quality compare with Spotify (using HQ setting)? Quite frankly, that means a lot more than if yet another generic and forgettable pop artist's music is available or not.
While sound quality is subjective, comparisons have put Apple's 256k AAC streams sounding a bit better than 320k MP3 streams. The algorithms used by Apple are less lossy.

She also tweeted:

In case you're wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you've seen Apple do with other artists, it's not. This is simply the first time it's felt right in my gut to stream my album. Thank you, Apple, for your change of heart.

So there's no reason why it won't appear on other streaming services soon.

If that's the case she needs to make it available on other streaming services right away. Otherwise it does come across looking like just one big PR stunt and people will be wondering how much did Apple Pay to get the album.

And in doing so, had to really put her album on Apple Music, otherwise she'd look like a hypocrite. In doing so, it gives Apple Music exclusivity and publicity. It's all PR rubbish - whether Taylor was in on it or not, or whether she took Apple's PR bait, remains to be seen.

It looks like TS won, though I'd be willing to argue that Apple are laughing megalomaniacally right now.

It seems like she wanted her music on Apple Music to begin with though. She was perfectly fine with it, she just wanted to be paid during the 3 month free trial period. This also has long reaching affects for indie artists. Would it have been better if a less successful artist was able to get Apple to change their mind? Yes, of course, but that's not how reality works. Taylor Swift has gigantic public influence all around the world, if she hadn't stepped up, a lot of small artists actually might have suffered due to this policy.

Seriously, it's one album. You think that's going to hurt spotify's subscriptions?
It's not just the album, it's the fact that one of the hottest artists right now is with Apple and talking good about the company. This alone will make many people switch. How do you think Spotify is feeling right now? Jealous? Nervous?

I am a big fan of Taylor (I admit that), but this is getting ridiculous. I studied marketing/PR in college and this decision just doesn't add up in terms of "I think Apple is right". And anyway, I own a copy, so it's not like I need to stream it. I've seen Tumblr users buy 10 COPIES of the album on launch day. I have no need to stream it. I really didn't care if Taylor offered it or not!

(EDITED)

Is it just me or is there anybody else who thinks that 10$ per month (that will be easily 10€ here in Europe) is a lot of money to listen radio? There is still FM radio and is not single-brand driven as Apple music.

Plus, you pay 10€ per month to help a company to discover which product should make it gain even more money, not the converse. I'm a loyal Apple fan, but this is too much.

Poor Spotify. Apple really does have a superior product.

Hmm...cmon, you think she's doing this out of the goodness of her heart? This whole escapade has been a marketing plow. Trust me, money has been exchanged...months ago. Apple doesn't have a superior product... they have a superior bank account.

There's a reason why her album has not been available for streaming before...cuz Apple got to her first. when she pulled her album is when Apple bought her.

Taylor Swift crushed Apple and she didn't even break a sweat.

She is Supergirl.
How did Apple get crushed? They changed a position they adopted that was going to keep them from signing deals w/ thousands of minor labels, then signed that deal, then got Taylor Swift to capitulate & put her 1989 album on their service, even though it will stream for free.

Stop stanning.
